A very useful app for the inReach mini. Unfortunately it falls down on one major issue. If you update any info on the inReach website and have to do a manual sync the app will have signed you out. It doesn’t matter if you leave the app running you will have to re enter your email and password after just an hour or so. Closing the app and restarting will always have signed you out. The inReach mini will still sync ok automatically but for a manual sync you will most likely have been signed out. Basic stuff this. Why design an app this way?

Have a Garmin Explorer+, so the app is very handy; however, the app is far from perfect. The recent release of the Garmin Explore app seems to only fragment the app space further; why can’t there be a single unified app platform?It is very nice being able to type messages from the phone; typing messages direct from the Explorer+ is a pain to say the least. Mapping here in the UK is awful; no OS maps or aerial photography. Would be nice if it were possible to filter data on the map page, as it is the map page shows all historic data. It is possible to filter on the web portal. To be fair, Garmin has never been renowned for quality software.

I like the Earthmate app. I use it a lot as I spend 50% of my life overseas and most of that at sea. I would like to sea a night time display scheme as well as colour options for the text bubbles in the messaging section - a different colour for each contact for example. I only use the app to text about 6 different people so this would be great.
Useless InReach mini device

I downloaded this software to use to access my newly purchased InReach Mini. However Garmin systems would never allow me to register this device and pay for a plan. I will be returning the InReach mini and hence the Earthmate software was useless. And there is much better mapping apps around anyway e.g. Motion X. And Garmin’s support in the UK was useless and waste many hours of my time.
