ALMATY, Aug. 20 (Xinhua) -- Kazakhstan will launch an artificial intelligence (AI)-based system to forecast renewable energy generation by the end of 2026, aiming to improve forecasting accuracy to 80 percent and reduce financial losses, the country's Energy Ministry said Thursday.
The system, developed by state-owned energy company Samruk-Energy and integrated with meteorological services, will support more efficient operational planning and reduce losses caused by deviations between actual and scheduled power generation, the ministry said.
The AI system comes as Kazakhstan expands its power-generation capacity, with about 2.6 gigawatts of new capacity, including 10 renewable energy facilities, expected to be commissioned in 2026. The country plans to add another 570 megawatts from renewable sources in 2027, the ministry added.
