Afghan forces seize fentanyl, firearms, arrest 4 traffickers

KABUL, Aug. 24 (Xinhua) -- Afghan counter-narcotics units have confiscated 93 kg of fentanyl alongside a cache of firearms in western Ghor province, the Ministry of Interior Affairs reported in a statement on Monday.

During a series of targeted operations, authorities recovered the illicit narcotics alongside one AK-47 rifle, one M4 rifle, a pistol, and four magazines from suspected smugglers, the statement said.

Four individuals were taken into custody on charges of trafficking drugs and weapons. Their case files have been forwarded to the judiciary for further investigation and legal proceedings.
