Orin Lole Durbin is a Ph.D. student in the Geosciences Department at Virginia Tech, USA, under the supervision of Professor Shuhai Xiao. He holds a Master's degree in Earth Sciences from the University of Oxford, UK. His thesis, supervised by Professor Ross Anderson, focused on microfossils from northern Mongolia.
His doctoral research focuses on Ediacaran–Cambrian boundary successions in China and Mongolia, regions that hold some of the most complete records from this period. Through examining these successions, he aims to refine our understanding of how ecological and evolutionary innovations unfolded during this transformative interval in Earth’s history.
