My research focuses on the following thematic areas: a) media, democracy, b) civic attitudes in digital spaces, c) polarization and disinformation, and d) the political, geopolitical, and regulatory impact of AI.

I have been a visiting professor in the U.S., China, Brazil, France, Italy, and Austria, and recently collaborated with the American University's PERIL Lab on methods to counter polarization and disinformation. I'm the author of 21 books and more than 64 articles and book chapters with international publishers, and I write biweekly for El Sol de México, Mexican nation-wide newspaper, on communication, journalism, media literacy, disinformation, and AI.
