- Assistant Professor of Gender & Women's Studies, Hollins University
I am a scholar-teacher of gender and women's studies with expertise in feminist science and technology studies, disability studies, and reproductive health, rights, and justice. I am working on a book based on my dissertation called Dead Mothers, Live Births that focuses on the phenomenon of "postmortem pregnancy," the maintenance of a brain-dead, pregnant woman on long-term organ-support to continue gestation of her fetus in utero. My interests especially circulate around the ways things, humans, and machines are declared alive or dead and how that operates in the emotional, political, medical, and legal domains.
