Ellie Gennings

Ellie completed her PhD in 2022 and is a Senior Academic in the Faculty of Business and Law at Bournemouth University, specialising in children and young people’s experiences of sport.

Her research focuses on well-being and human rights in youth sport and exercise settings, with contributions to measurement, well-being science and participatory research methods. She currently leads an International Olympic Committee–funded project on safe sport, exploring how young athletes understand and experience safety in high-performance environments. This multi-phase, child-centred study includes athletes, parents and coaches, and aims to inform more inclusive, rights-based safeguarding practices in elite youth sport.
