Caroline Sawe is a Research Associate at SEI's University of York centre, focusing on developing national plans and strategies for air pollution and climate change mitigation, mainly in Francophone African countries. She also works to reduce short-lived climate pollutants (e.g methane) emissions by creating mitigation roadmaps for national Governments.

Her interest in air pollution and its effects grew during her previous role with the Covenant of Mayors in sub-Saharan Africa, where she helped local governments create and execute climate action plans and implement measures to reduce air pollution. Her interests include renewable energy, the circular economy, and e-mobility, with experience crafting national action plans, roadmaps, and policy briefs.

Caroline earned a Master's in Development Economics, with a focus on Sustainable Development in developing nations and emerging economies in 2014 from CERDI (Centre d’études et de recherches sur le développement international) at the University of Auvergne in Clermont Ferrand, France.
