Çağatay Yıldız

I'm a postdoctoral researcher at the Cluster of Excellence "Machine Learning" at the University of Tübingen, Germany. I completed my PhD degree at Aalto University, Finland, on differential equations and machine learning - I showed how machine learning can benefit from physics-inspired ideas, and likewise how physics problems can be tackled using modern machine learning tools.

Then my interests shifted towards language models, the technology powering modern chatbots. On one hand, I'm actively researching how to adapt them for certain tasks best and how to make them more efficient. I'm also applying these tools to societal problems, such as giving feedback to teachers on their teaching quality and helping immigrants with their transcultural adaptation.
