BACK TO 1985 — Lost Streets of Las Vegas // 80s Nostalgic Vaporwave & Chillwave Mix

This captivating photograph transports us back to the golden era of the Las Vegas Strip. Taken as part of a visual research project by visionary architects Denise Scott Brown and Robert Venturi—which later culminated in their groundbreaking 1972 book, Learning from Las Vegas—the image serves as a nostalgic time capsule of American roadside culture.

Looking north toward Sands Avenue, the frame captures the vibrant, chaotic beauty of the desert oasis before the age of mega-resorts. It shows a bustling multi-lane highway packed with classic vintage cars, framed by a dense canopy of oversized neon signs. Prominent landmarks of the time fill the right side of the view, including the Colonial House Motel, the Santa Anita Race Book (a mid-century off-track betting parlor), and the iconic Dirty Sally's Discotheque billboard.

The Specific Site: The stretch of the Strip pictured—specifically around 3207 South Las Vegas Boulevard (where the Santa Anita Race Book and Colonial House once stood just south of the old Desert Inn)—was completely cleared during major redevelopments in the late 1980s.

Today, this precise land is occupied by the ultra-luxury Wynn Las Vegas and Encore resort complexes. The small motels, low-rise businesses, and Emerson Avenue (the side street visible next to the signs) have all vanished. They have been replaced by towering, sleek glass hotel skyscrapers, manicured golf courses, waterfalls, and high-end luxury shopping plazas. While the neon glow remains a staple of Las Vegas, the intimate, retro "decorated sheds" of the 1970s have given way to massive, self-contained modern architectural spectacles.

(PRZNT)
Looking at my rear mirror, think how I’m gone, thought u would’ve caught up on, but now I feel it inside I can’t give bitches no more time, live your own lie, I let myself in, she take me right in,
On my own grind, mama said don’t fold now, everybody popping to my songs I’m just gone now,

These niggas be talking a lot they saying I’m better I know it yea, wrist on way below yea, I got too many hoes yea, inspire all these flows all these wannabes annoying yea, Take me to the floor yea encourage me to blow it yea,
Oh why all my life I been alone, take one pill to take my mind off being wrong, there’s too many bad decision round me in my zone, can’t be caught up w the deuces cus I’ll be in until the morn,

All these lonely faces all these broken hearts, all these people round me they don’t see this far,

Tu boli thi chodke nai jayega
Mauka jab hoga tab haqse nibhayegi
Fatse bh****egi aisa nai socha tha
Akela pan mehsoos hota tab rota tha
Pyaar pe mukhota tha
Jo hua hona tha
Kande pe sona tha
Meri maddona tha
Tu nahi milti toh marijuana tha
Jo khush karta tha Gum ko
Chupata tha
Kyu toh chupana tha
Duniya ke samne nai lana tha
Tujhse milne ko mei bahana
Banata
Galti meri bhi thi chodi meine nai
Thi
Thodi moody hai tu
Lekin itni kaisi
Badlegi faisle
Jaldi tu
Teri meri nahi banti kyu
Tu uske sath par dil mera tera
Pass
Itni si baat hai kya samjhi tu

Tere mere favourite gaane
Sunrela hu gaadi mei
Yaadon ko mitane har shaam
Karrela hu party mei (x2)

Kyu toh khoya hu mei
Na mei janu na
Saare puche mujhse
Woh ab hai kaha ?
