INTVL: The World Is the Game.
INTVL turns every walk, run or bike ride into a game played on the real world globe. The idea is simple. When you run or ride in a loop, the ground inside that loop becomes your territory. The bigger, smarter and more tactical your routes, the more of the map you hold.
Claim your territory
Every loop you complete claims real space. Other players are out there doing the same thing, so the map is always moving. You can take a new route to take new ground, or go back over an area to defend what's already yours.
Play it your way
Some people want to be the best in the world, so they chase the global leaderboard. Others care more about home turf and work to become the territory leader of their own suburb or city. Both are worth playing for, and you can switch focus whenever you want.
Hold ground, win real prizes
Every bit of the map you hold earns you entries into our competitions, where the prizes are real. The more territory you hold at the end of the competition, the better your odds.
Run and ride with clubs
Join a club and play as a team. Your territory adds to your club's total, so a good capture from you helps everyone you're playing alongside.
A feed built around the game
INTVL has a social feed where you can follow other players, see their activities, and cheer them on. It's a good way to find people around you and stay connected to other athletes around the world.
Bring your own gear
INTVL works with the devices you already train on, so your activities sync straight into the game:
- Garmin
- Suunto
- Polar
- Coros
- Fitbit
- Hammerhead
- Wahoo
We built INTVL to give a new meaning to fitness. Movement without stakes is just exercise. The world is the game. Take it.

They’ve somehow managed to make running fun by harnessing the power of Ego. The constant competition for territory is a genius way to encourage people to run, and keep running, to fight for dominance. The app can be as simple or as complex as you like thanks to the ability to create training plans and join clubs, or if you just want to measure territory. This app is really helping me run long distance and explore new areas, and I truly believe that this is one of, if not the best fitness tracker apps on the internet. The app is still packed with features even without pro, and it is genuinely awesome to embrace my British culture of stealing other peoples’ territory.
Great and fun app if not for one personal gripe

A fantastic and refreshing idea to encourage moving around outdoors, however I do feel the same premise is heavily flawed by a lack of ‘effort’ categorisation; I think a huge improvement would be to have layers in the world map, whereby if you claim a territory at an avg pace of 7min/mi, you claim that territory in all layers (eg sprint/run/job/walk), however if a user subsequently claims the same territory at 20min/mi pace, then they only capture the territory in the ‘walk pace’ layer, meaning the original user retains the territory in all ‘layers’ above ‘walk pace’. I frequently have territory stolen by users who have claimed it at a much slower pace, which I’m not discouraging, but I would feel more inclined to involve myself more with this app if effort to claim territory is a consideration in how territory is captured and retained.
Lots of potential

This is a great concept. There are two reasons this isn’t a 5 star review:Mainly, I think the free features are a bit limited. Specifically limiting free users to only five runs in a private lobby completely defeats the point of a private lobby. If this limit was increased considerably, the free user experience would improve greatly. Our private lobby is the main reason me and my friends got the app, so the limit seriously hampers our interest in INTVL. The other reason for 3 stars is that the app is a bit laggy, but I’m not as bothered by this. I’m sure it will get better with time.
Great foundation, almost there
yo family?
I think the core concept of the app is great, it’s motivating and competitive which for me is a perfect mix. Never loved running before. The only thing I think is if you’re new to the app it’s entirely overwhelming. I tried to convince my dad to download, but the concept of unlocking the map and having to level up etc was all too much. Those features are great but for those who just want to run and capture territory it should be much simpler. Still definitely recommended.
