To return or not to the benches of a school or a university?\u00a0To invest time and money in training or not?\u00a0These are dilemmas that often arise for professionals concerned with progressing in their careers.<\/span><\/p>\n

Seizing the opportunities that arise in a changing world requires developing agility, being up to date on new managerial methods, being able to meet immediate imperatives, while taking the necessary height in the face of challenges. longer term.\u00a0In short, to\u00a0<\/span>strengthen their soft skills<\/span><\/a>\u00a0.\u00a0But, if being trained is so important, can we say that any registration in training is the guarantee of a successful professional retraining?<\/span><\/p>\n

There is nowadays a\u00a0<\/span>desire to change companies<\/span><\/a>\u00a0, especially among executives (40%, according to APEC), associated with a fragmentation of jobs, especially with regard to young people.\u00a0According to P\u00f4le Emploi, young workers today\u00a0<\/span>will change jobs<\/span><\/a>\u00a0on average 13 to 15 times during their lifetime.<\/span><\/p>\n

However, companies are still reasoning according to a logic of business sectors, and have difficulty understanding the acceleration of changes in employment.\u00a0This creates tension on the labor market, with companies having\u00a0<\/span>more and more difficulty recruiting<\/span><\/a>\u00a0, a shortage attested in France for the majority of skills (DARES), and employees in career development who no longer necessarily respond to the logic of the business sector.<\/span><\/p>\n

You no longer practice the same job all your life, and this trend has increased with the Covid-19 epidemic, during which employees have massively questioned their professional choices and deep motivations.\u00a0Trend based on the phenomenon of\u00a0<\/span>the obsolescence of skills<\/span><\/a>\u00a0\u00a0: it is becoming more and more difficult to acquire all the\u00a0<\/span>skills<\/span><\/a>\u00a0that will be needed throughout life in initial training.\u00a0In this context,\u00a0<\/span>vocational training<\/span><\/a>\u00a0is an important recourse, several authors tell us.<\/span><\/p>\n

Autonomous and \u201clearning\u201d individuals?<\/strong><\/h4>\n

The legislator wanted to respond to the problem of adaptation between jobs and skills by focusing on\u00a0<\/span>mobility and continuing education<\/span><\/a>\u00a0, and by placing the individual at the heart of their career development path.\u00a0According to this principle, by training freely, you can build the skills necessary to move towards the profession of your choice and succeed in your retraining.<\/span><\/p>\n

This has made the individual’s freedom of decision the cornerstone of the reform of continuing education.\u00a0Law\u00a0<\/span>No. 2018-771 of September 5, 2018<\/span><\/a>\u00a0titles its first chapter as follows: “Strengthening and supporting the freedom of individuals in the choice of their training”.\u00a0Vocational training no longer has as a priority to promote \u201caccess to the different levels of culture\u201d but rather \u201cto allow each employee to be an actor in his professional development\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n

In terms of knowledge, this echoes a vision in relation to which our economy is in full\u00a0<\/span>\u201cserviation\u201d<\/span><\/a>\u00a0\u00a0: all activity is becoming more and more abstract, based on the understanding and manipulation of information more than on its acquisition.\u00a0Individuals must\u00a0<\/span>gain autonomy<\/span><\/a>\u00a0and empower themselves as social actors to make decisions in a rapidly changing world.\u00a0The professional individual must become a \u201clearning\u201d individual.<\/span>
