This is a pretty good app and I appreciate it being available. Two things keep it from being great.First, the battery drain is bothersome. Fixing that would be a great leap forward.Second, the fact that all non-Tailscale network data leaks out unprotected to the Internet creates difficulty for those who cannot safely use an exit node on our Tailscale network. Thus, if I connect to my Tailscale network on a “unsafe“ Wi-Fi, I lose all the protective benefits of the VPN for the majority of my data flow. Having a setting that says that the only data that can flow to and from my device must go through Tailscale would solve this vulnerability and make this a much more useful app.

Tailscale has become an absolute game-changer for my workflow. I rely on Remote Desktop for Windows-based tasks, but my Wi-Fi in certain locations is barely functional. With Tailscale, that limitation disappears. I can put one device on cellular, keep my main machine on home Wi-Fi, and Tailscale stitches everything together through its own encrypted mesh network.Because it builds a secure WireGuard-based overlay, every device feels like it's on the same LAN—even when they're on completely different networks. As long as my devices are online, Tailscale maintains the connection flawlessly. No port-forwarding, no VPN servers to babysit, no weird NAT issues. It just works, and it's shockingly reliable.The flexibility is enormous: remote access, file transfers, RDP, SSH, ad-hoc services, subnet routing, exit nodes—you name it. Once you start using Tailscale, the number of things you can do with it feels practically limitless.
Really useful! But vpn on demand does not work

I have been using this app for a year now and I really appreciate the core features. It’s really nice to be able to access local services without exposing them to the World Wide Web. However, there are times when I don’t want to have the app on, and I have found that the VPN on demand using the “except on” option I will either be stuck in VPN on all the time, ignoring the on-demand setup- or stuck in VPN off all the time, again ignoring VPN on demand. Not sure what the deal is, or if there’s a certain sequence of it of events that need to be done to make the feature work, but it’s the only blemish in an otherwise great app.
Getting better, but battery life is still a HUGE issue

App has definitely gotten better with updates and so I’m thankful for that. Not that long ago I had to force quit the app a few times to finally get it to connect and not give me re-auth errors. However, battery life and management is still a very very big deterrent to using this how I originally wanted to, which is always-on, using my pi-hole server for DNS and ad blocking. I’m following the issue in GitHub. Please please fix! Many users seeing the same thing and providing dumps. If you guys can get the battery usage under control then the app will be UNSTOPPABLE.
Fixed: Memory usage is reduced for devices on large tailnets.
Fixed: When MagicDNS is disabled, unqualified hostnames are correctly forwarded to the configured nameservers.
Fixed: Resolved an issue where nodes with Tailnet Lock enabled on large tailnets would experience startup failures.
