I love Cotton games. This one has beautifully drawn artwork and animation. The premise is good. But as many others have pointed out, the controls and dialogue can be frustrating. Moving around is challenge as most hit regions aren’t obvious and tapping often doesn’t move the character where you expected. At this point no one needs to reinvent the point-and-click interface, it was perfected years ago. Just stick to the norms, please. The dialogue is where this game falters the most. There is a lot of it and it’s inconsistently handled. Often it’s rendered letter by letter and sometimes you can advance it with a tap but more often tapping does nothing and have you have wait for it to fully render. Tap and wait a lot more. Then there are times when the text appears all at once but it progresses without tapping—and faster than you can read. Especially when you are reading text that’s very clearly not written by a native English speaker. Even with the recent “English polishing” I don’t feel “comfortable” reading the text. Sorry to be blunt about it but, coupled with the controls, the dialogue handling makes this game tedious to play. I still recommend it as long as you are okay with the above-mentioned caveats.

Really loved the visuals and story, looking forward to new chapters if there ever will be more. It's heartwarming, pleasant to look at and main character's ptsd is interesting to explore. You truly can see the passion of developers. Puzzles are overall good and clever, but some either too unintuitive/straight up unpleasant to solve(like maze one) or hold your hand on every step which isn't good either. But my main issue comes with english translation. It looks very cheap, almost if original text has been ran through google translator and that's it. It breaks game's immersion. Not sure if this problem exists in original text, but at some point dialogue falls out of sync, making it hard to read.

Don’t listen to these cheap morons complaining about the price and who can’t figure out simple puzzles (which you can also find online how to do) Absolutely gorgeous game, this should set the tone for most if not all mobile games. Hand drawn work of art in every frame. But guys, you have to fix the dialogue towards the end. Once the kids are caught in the theatre and you’re inspecting the cause of the paint. The dialogue is mixed up. It will be Ferricio talking but another characters mouth will move and the picture of who’s talking will be someone else. Also the translation is at times off, although minor, not everyone has common sense to get it lol. Like Doug refers to his mother as his wife once. When you go to stand on the shelf to escape ferrucios room, I got frozen up there once and had to reload. All very minor things and I don’t think it’s worth a 4 star over but could be fixed. Amazing game thank you 🥰

English dialogue is unbelievably just bad, throughout the game, even AFTER the latest update that says typos have been corrected. Sometimes it’s simply difficult to read, because spaces are missing after punctuation, or there are lots of typos. Other time the wording is a little off or confusing, such as a character who is looking for a woman that he refers to sometimes as his mom, and other times as his wife. Surely she isn’t both! But oh, at other times, the English is incomprehensible to the point of making it very difficult to figure out what the game wants you to do next. And worst of all, on multiple occasions the English is outright offensive, making this game NOT AT ALL SUITABLE FOR CHILDREN as it claims. I agree with other reviewers that the UI controls could be better, and the game does at times glitch or freeze, and not all character dialogue can be skipped which is annoying. But before tackling any of that, please, please, dear game developers: have a native English speaker clean up the mess of translations in this otherwise sweet and cozy game! I wanted to love Sunset Hills so much. And I’m pretty intuitive - I even played Neko Atsume when it was only available in Japanese. I’ve also played other games with problems, but never bothered to review a game till now, because the English is just THAT BAD and incredibly detrimental to playing the game.
