It’s fun to use. I enjoy the app. I had a Spanish base already but I think I would have caught on faster if I started in this manner. Especially with the made up songs. Something I will have my daughter check out as well.

False Marketing

I downloaded Stella after seeing really inteesting ads on Instagram but the marketing team is way ahead of the actual development team because the app is totallly different from what they market. They market it to make it appear you are having fluid back and forth conversations with an AI avatar. In reality there is no AI charscter talking to you. It tells you to text or talk. I cannot see a way to actually write your answers and when you talk it cant hear / understand you so you have to repeat the same answers again and again and just move on. It also markets sentance structure but I have yet to see it.

I give it two stars because the AI concept & format has potential but I tried it based on advertisement in Instagram that promoted it as if you learn Spanish in a song format. They used Salsa music in the advertisement and was teaching words as if it was learning lyrics. But once I used the app. I realized that wasn’t the actual learning format, but just as an advertisement. So I feel a tad bit mislead because I was excited to learn in that style of format. However, I think the actual learning format isn’t horrible, it might be suitable for other learners.

Great content but slow and clunky

I was excited to try this app after having used others (Speak, Jumpspeak, Praktika) but man-it’s just not usable as it is today. I don’t know what the issue is but this runs way too slow, as in it takes several seconds to “hear” and acknowledge my spoken response. And it frequently mishears my answer, like 50% of the time. Other apps I’ve tried have no such issues. It’s too bad because I do like the content and lesson plans, but I don’t have time to wrestle an unresponsive app.
