I’ve used a windows machine since windows 96. Using Excel since 2006. I never had the desire to even touch a Mac until a few months after I started my first business in 2019. After helping a client with their iMac, I went to an Apple Store and started toying around with a MacBook there, then purchased one. It took me less than a week working with my new MacBook to master Numbers and realize how much more efficient I would be with my new Apple machine. I use Numbers daily for my business and for personal. I will never move back to a windows machine and will certainly never move away from Numbers. I have made it my life’s mission to show my clients the massive benefits of ditching their windows PC in favor of Mac for their business and personal use with Numbers and security being in the spotlight every time. I have even began offering a free class for my clients to show them how to more efficiently use Numbers, Pages, Keynote, and more. I 100% recommend using Numbers if you prefer a secure platform with extreme efficiency and ease of use.

I’m a lifelong Mac user and won’t use Windows unless I have to, at work. What I liked about Mac is that everything runs so smoothly together, and it does so with style and power. Windows, at best, is kind of clunky. It’s a system that tries to do too much, and it feels like everything is held together with tape and a prayer. Unfortunately, the introduction of OS26 Tahoe feels like the Mac OS has taken two steps in the direction of Microsoft - a system that tries to do too much. With all of its AI bells and whistles, Tahoe has sharply gummed up the performance of everyday apps like Numbers and Pages. The system frequently has to pause to catch up to me. I have to wait for the spinning colored wheel EVERY TIME I use command + s to save my work, and I don’t like to have to wait for it to complete its maddeningly slow processing tasks. I have a relatively powerful Mac M1 chip, with 16 GB of Ram. But now my Mac feels woefully inadequate to do the everyday spreadsheets and word processing tasks that I spend most of my time doing on Mac. Meanwhile I’m not using any of the bells and whistles - I don’t need them. If I had known then what I know now, I would not have upgraded to Tahoe. I wonder whether people who run more powerful machines, for example, with 32GB of RAM, are experiencing the same degradation of performance?

I’ll admit it, I’ve been just your basic Apple user since my first Mac SE. I’m not a power user on a daily basis, but when I need it I need it. I’ve used Microsoft products for Mac but generally always returned to Apple productivity products. Until recently, when I needed functionality Excel provides that Apple persistently (including the new Numbers) doesn’t. So having to purchase a subscription for Microsoft Office was very uncomfortable. But, hey, I still had my Apple products subscription free, until they aren’t. For me, I don’t see any added functionality advantage for purchasing the Apple suite, including Numbers, because 14.x works just fine. I’ve tried them side by side with my current workflow, and there is no difference. So I will NOT pay for something I don’t need. Period. Apple, please allow me to turn off your ads, I’m not buying! Apple is clearly and persistently going the wrong direction from a customer perspective, but in the end they will win because eventually they’ll find some way shut down (not just not support) the legacy products. Microsoft has done it, Adobe has done it, Intuit has done it. I’d hoped that Apple who has always strived to “be different” would stay true to its original vision. It’s not as if they need more profits.

Storage space is essential and I have a lot of space on both my Mac and iCloud being taking up by Keynote, Pages, Number documents only to find that version history is kept of every document I create. As someone who uses the apps every day and doesn't need to return to earlier versions of my works, I'd like to see a quick, smooth, and easy to understand way to permanently delete all the old versions of my documents (almost like how you can set the Mail App on Mac to auto clear e-mails sent or received in the selected timeframes). A user could set the number of versions they want to save and with every new save, the oldest version gets deleted. I'd like to have an app default, that way I don't have to go through each of my many documents individually to permanently delete old versions.
