Best single purchase app for soundscapes

Ok, so I have had several different apps. I hate subscription services so I try and avoid anything that is based on that platform. However, I am a student and do require noise to drown out my wife watching TV, company that comes over, people in the library, etc... I am constantly listening to white noise or other things. However, this app has the ability to create your own soudscapes which I absolutely need. I don't want to listen to TV static for 5 straight hours so I like to layer the sounds so that it reduces my listening fatigue. This app is awesome! One suggestion (not a complaint) is that I would like to have different enviornmental sounds. Such as wind whistling (more like the sound you hear when you are in a cabbin / snow boarding) and one other one which would be some bineural frequencies a few Studying: BETA (14-30 Hz), High Beta (40 Hz) & Meditation/ Sleep: (4-8 Hz) or (432 Hz)

Helps with Tinnitus!

This is a praise and a frustration. I have Tinnitus and I discovered years ago that that the deep brown noise on a sound machine kept my Tinnitus at bay. But after several years of use, my sound machine broke. I searched many apps and I finally found this app and was able to mix some sounds to get that deep brown noise that I could only get here and it is about the only thing that helps me. That is a huge praise! So I have this app set to my favorite sound and it is on all the time while I’m at home. My only complaint is if I have it on and I get a text, call or an alert on my phone, the app CHANGES my sound to a real low and soft WHITE NOISE sound about 8-10 seconds after the alert, text or call. I have to unlock my phone, go to the app, and switch it back to my preferred sound. Imagine my frustration when I’m group texting!! EVERY SINGLE TIME! I don’t understand why they would make it change your sound about 8 seconds after you have laid your phone down! Now you have to go back, pick it back up and change it back. It’s just really frustrating. I really wish it didn’t do that!!

Sound quality is off

I agree with scampercom about the sound quality being off. The sounds sound thinned out. I use in-ear headphones (not Apple’s) to help blocked out co-workers when trying to concentrate. I usually listen to music but sometimes that can get tiresome and I prefer white noise. This app, though I really like the selection, probably wouldn’t help. The sound quality from other apps like Noisli and Noizio are better, with Wildfulness being the absolute best with 3D sound. I can mix sounds with Noisli but the app hasn’t been updated in a year or so and you can hear the looping. Noizio is updated, has more sounds than Noisli, but you can hear the looping and it requires so many in app purchases to expand the library. Wildfulness, Wildfulness 2, and it’s 3rd counterpart Sonas Island (or something like that) has beyond amazing sound quality. You can hear the looping with a few sounds but it’s biggest flaw for me is the lack of variety. It’s ALL nature sounds. There are other apps I have tried but most were unnecessarily complicated or not worth mentioning. This app is good for it’s simplicity, ease of use, features, and variety, but unfortunately not it’s sound quality.

Best Modern Sleep Noise app!

I used to be satisfied with a sleep sound app that just made some white noise to give me a blank canvas for sleep. That was the olden days of iPhones, a simpler and more innocent time.I’ve used a different sleep sound app happily for many years. It’s been collecting strikes as iOS moved forward and they haven’t. First it had no support for Shortcuts, but at the time I thought of Shortcuts as fun and new; now it’s gotten to be a part of every day I rely on. Then no AirPlay (can’t play to the HomePod mini on my nightstand), then they collect tracking data....I finally started looking for an alternative. Turns out the other freemium sleep sound apps lack support for iOS integrations, or collect tracking data, or require a subscription, or don’t have good sounds or sound mixing (or just have nature sounds).Then I found Dark Noise. Its UI is straightforward and clear; it supports AirPlay, Shortcuts (the best Shortcuts support I’ve seen in any sound app!), collects no data, has no subscription ask... it’s fantastic! And the sound selection has a wide variety of nature and non-nature sounds - look, I’m a city boy; I really don’t have any history of sleeping hearing frogs, and if I can hear the rain that just tells my brain that there’s an unsafe open window or a leak.Dark Noise isn’t free; it costs five *whole* dollars. That’s about a penny and a half per day (well, night) over the first year.But look, free isn’t free, and that’s becoming increasingly clear. With Dark Noise, it’s above board and completely transparent: I pay five bucks and I get a really good app. What a novel concept!
