Carrier SmartHome
Ratings & Reviews
Hello, I am a big fan of this app as I have several Carrier systems I run from it. I have two main complaints, and one is a feature I’m hoping the developers can add. The first thing is, when you have a Carrier Indoor Air Quality sensor linked to the app, it shows up with the name N/A on the app Home Screen. It links to the app fine and the data is all there, but it doesn’t look very clean having it say N/A all the time. The second thing I really wish this had, was a “system run time” tracker. I use it also to monitor a system at my second home, and back on my old system I could track the furnace /AC usage, which was critical. I really wish this app had the ability to see that information, and I suspect it would not be too hard to implement.
Developer ResponseSorry you're running into this. We are investigating the Indoor Air Quality sensor displaying "N/A." Your request for a system runtime tracker will be considered for future updates. For the fastest feedback on your unique system, please use in-app support via Profile → Help & Support → Contact Us.
I turned the system off completely via the app and noticed half an hour later that the thermostat was saying dehumidifying but the app said the system was turned off. I had to turn the system off manually via the thermostat interface. This is annoying because this app is constantly updated but can’t do the most basic functions
Developer ResponseYour experience is important to us. We’re glad to hear things are running more smoothly and appreciate you sharing both your progress and remaining concerns. We’ve shared your feedback on clarity around temperature displays and usability with our team as we continue improving the app. If you have more suggestions, feel free to contact us at ResDigital@carrier.com.
The Carrier smart app and and HVAC system control panel is not friendly to use whatsoever. I previously owned a Honeywell control system panel with iPhone app, and it was 1000% better and easier to use. The Carrier HVAC system seems to be a good heating and cooling system, but the control panel is the worst!!! The Carrier HVAC system was installed 12 days ago, and I am already having issues with the smart app. It is already showing it is offline, and I cannot get it back online. I am contacting the company that installed the Carrier HVAC system to see if they can reinstall the old Honeywell control unit with its iPhone app. This is so frustrating since I just spent a large sum of money on the Carrier system. Huge Regrets!!!!!!!!! Carrier needs to develop a new control panel and a new smart app!! Terrible design , absolutely terrible.
The software seems better than the last time I used it. The thermostat seems to update faster compared to when I place the changes in the app. A big gripe I have though is that I cannot get the thermostat to add to google home. Even when linking the account (though I’m not sure it’s the same app necessarily because Google Home has a different logo) the thermostat doesn’t show up. Once this issue is fixed I’ll be much happier and would give it a higher rating. Note this is only commenting on the app not the actual unit (which is very good).
Developer ResponseSorry you're running into this issue with Google Home. Our system controls are designed to work with Alexa only. For voice assistant compatibility, please refer to your device specifications. Update. May 26 Update- was working fine until the most recent May update. Now it will not revert back to your comfort settings. And you have to manually go back and resume schedule to get it back on schedule. Please try and fix this app. It’s so important for me to be able to control the air in my home as I live with elderly and disabled people. Ever since the July update, the app constantly says it is off-line. However, I can see that the modem is fine and there’s a strong signal. It also constantly logs me out of the app and I have to login again. Hope you’re able to fix these issues and update the app soon. Right now it is useless.
Developer ResponseWe sincerely apologize for this frustrating experience; losing remote access is a critical failure. We want to let you know that the constant login issue was corrected on our end as of August 7th. Our team is also continuing to work on improving connectivity as a top priority. Just make a button that says “set all zones on all systems in the entire house for the entire property that my app is currently controlling to the specific numerical temperature that I want. Do you honestly think we’d be adjusting the temperature if “home” was the temperature we wanted at this moment. No. So why can we only set zones in bulk to pre-named comfort modes? And good grief, let us reorder the system controls. I’ve added and removed and added and removed in all sorts of orders and my system controls just go back to some default sort that I can’t control - and it’s not even alphabetical. Have you ever considered that my garage is not the first system that I want to see every time I open the app?So not only do I have to set each temperature manually, but I have to scroll past 15 zones to get where I’m going. It would be difficult to have a poorer user experience for a $100k AC system’s app.
Developer ResponseWe understand your frustration with the current temperature control and device ordering features. We are continuously working to improve the user experience. For setting specific temperatures across multiple zones, you can adjust each zone individually within the app. While bulk setting to custom temperatures is not currently available, we recommend using the existing comfort modes for convenience. If you continue to experience difficulties with device sorting, please use the in-app support option by navigating to Profile → Help & Support → Contact Us for further assistance.
This app is simply terrible. It glitches often and lately most of us users have gotten the “Offline” message. There’s no way to troubleshoot and get rid of it. I’ve deleted the app from my phone together, re-installed it, and I’m still getting the “Offline” error. What’s the point in having a smart thermostat if the app used to control it doesn’t function correctly and the only option to operate the thermostat is manually from the wall? 🙄 Get it together, Carrier. You’re too large and reputable of a company to have such a poor performing subpar app that’s highly unreliable.
This app very frequently show the system offline and the fix is to physically reboot the system. This happens frequently and it is infuriating that you cannot reliably interact with the thermostat when you are not physically at home. I tried the self help tools available in the app, but was directed that the fix is to physically reboot the system and that there is no way to get it online while remote. It goes offline multiple times a month. I travel extensively for work and this system is unworkable. I will be looking for a different system.
Developer ResponseWe hear you, and we’ve made updates to improve the support experience since your review. Head to Profile → Help & Support → Contact Us in the app. Most issues can be resolved here, and our team can jump in if needed.
I'm not sure why they changed this. I have an Infinity system and while the old app has bugs they mirrored the app to what I saw on my thermostat so it was very easy to navigate and manage as it was like just standing right at the thermostat. Now I can't find anything. Trying to set or edit my vacation mode takes longer as I have to click through everything find it. We had a power outage and I was out of town. No way to reset the clock on the app that I could find. Overall wish I still could use a nest for this!
Developer ResponseSorry you're running into this. For assistance with features like vacation mode or resetting the clock after a power outage, please use the in-app support. Navigate to Profile > Help & Support > Contact Us. This ensures we can review your unique system configuration. This guide may also be helpful: link.carrier.io/lqx2dt
Update: July ‘25 | Outside sensor temps are back! Excellent. Now please bring back the cost breakdown of the usage. I used to be able to see how much the electric heat cost vs heat pump heat, etc. Please bring that feature back too and then the app will be back in my good graces. Original review below until then. Original Review: This app is just fine. It’s acceptable. But it removed features that I had in the old app. It was very important to see the temperature outside at the actual compressor. If the temperature seemed abnormally high or low it gave me an indication of needing to clean the coils. Please bring this feature back. I don’t need another app telling me what the temperature is from an RSS feed from a weather service at a weather station that’s somewhere near my house. I can get that on 1 million other apps. Also, bring back the ability to see what portion of the unit was costing money. It was very useful to see the breakdown of what was costing what. Why would you remove features that were on the old app?
Developer ResponseThank you for your feedback. Your experience is important to us! Please download version 1.2.17, available now, which returns your individual outdoor air temperature to the app. You can view energy usage by going to the device screen, tapping the settings wheel, and selecting “Status & Energy Usage.” If you have more suggestions or questions, feel free to reach out at ResDigital@carrier.com.
