  • App still needs work!

    Slapjack99

The recent update to fix a rounding problem with F deg units did not go far enough. The setpoints for the Klima product are only allowed to be in F deg units that are equivalent to integer units of C deg. Thus, you do not have continuous integer setpoints for F deg. You are missing some integer F deg setpoints. Who does that? Also the schedule portion of the app is very restrictive. You are forced to use 6 setpoint windows. So the app will send out 6 control setpoints a day, whether you want it to or not. I would prefer to decide my own the number of desired setpoint windows. Example - I have a room that is occasionally used. When a person goes in, they set their desired room temperature. When they are leave, they cut back the room control temp. I just want one setpoint send out a day in the evening to cut back the room in the event the person using the room that day forgot to cut back the temperature setpoint when they left. This simple task can not be properly done with this app’s scheduling.

Hi,Thank you for your detailed feedback! We understand your concerns about the Fahrenheit setpoints. Since we control Air Conditioners globally, the proper step in Fahrenheit might require using the precise Fahrenheit command set, instead of the Celsius one. As both can control the unit sometimes there might be a first match to a Celsius command set during the search process and cause the different increments. Please contact us directly at support@teamboldr.com, and we'll gladly update your Klima to use precise Fahrenheit adjustments. We're also working on improving the scheduling flexibility in a future update, allowing more control over setpoint windows. We’d love to hear more of your suggestions directly to ensure the new version meets your needs. Your feedback is invaluable to us!Thank you for helping us improve! The Boldr Team

  • Missing some features, bugs…

Pretty good. Using it with three Klima mini split controllers. Setup was generally easy, though the third unit (a Fujitsu) took quite a while to find the right remote codes (the device is basically a smart IR remote with built-in WiFi. You program it through a trial and error process that involves having the device send test codes to your HVAC, and you telling the app whether the codes worked. My Mitsubishi units synced up after three or four rounds, but my Fujitsu took over 30 back-and-forths. The app is well designed, but there are bugs. The app claims it can measure your energy consumption costs, but when you manually enter your utility data, it doesn’t stick - the app won’t save the info. There are also missing features, including presence sensing and open window detection. These are shown as “coming soon,” but Klima’s sales materials don’t make their current absence entirely clear. It should. Customer service has been fine. You have to go thru their very artificial-but-not-so-intelligent automatic support tool, and after that there are time-consuming extra steps to reach a real person, but once you do they’re responsive and friendly. Overall, this is a promising solution for folks who want to remotely operate their HVAC systems.

  • Difficult setup and Wi-Fi reconfiguration

    David8-

I wanted to like this thermostat, but the setup and app experience have been extremely frustrating. From day one, I had to call customer support just to get the app to control the unit at all. Recently, I needed to change Wi-Fi networks, and that turned into another long ordeal. I came close to getting it back online once, but could never fully complete the process. After attempting a factory reset, the screen instructed me to “hold phone near unit,” but nothing ever happened. I eventually went into my phone’s Wi-Fi settings and connected the thermostat to the network manually — not because the device told me to, but because it was the only thing that seemed to work. Even then, the screen stayed stuck on “finish in app,” endlessly spinning, and the setup never actually completed. The hardware itself seems fine, but the onboarding, Wi-Fi setup, and app reliability are not. For a smart thermostat, basic tasks like initial setup and changing networks should be straightforward. Unfortunately, they’re not. “The app never suggested creating a new home, which turned out to be the only way to fix the issue.”Until the app and provisioning process are significantly improved, I would hesitate to recommend this product to anyone who isn’t very patient or very technical.

Hi David, thanks for sharing this feedback. You’re absolutely right — changing Wi-Fi and getting through setup should be simple, and I’m sorry this turned into such a frustrating experience. What you described around getting stuck on “finish in app” and needing to manually connect is not how it should work. We’re actively improving this flow, and your note about having to create a new home is especially helpful. If you’re open to it, I’d love to help get things working properly. You can reach me directly at matheus@teamboldr.com. Any additional details or suggestions you’re willing to share there would also really help us improve the app. Thanks again for taking the time to write this.MatheusCTO, Boldr

  • Newer versions work intuitively

    75R90S

I had some initial issues related to the Klima hardware device that serves as a remote control for unintelligent heaters and air conditioners and the app. Troubleshooting with Boldr support identified the issue and provided an update. The app, the Klima, and the Alexa integration work perfectly now.The most impressive aspect of this resolution is how quickly the company escalated the issue to not only developers but to those who had the ability to direct development attention to the issue. This is very uncommon in my experience and transformed a frustrating user experience into a delightful one. As a result, I can easily recommend this App and the Klima hardware especially to renters like myself who live in dwellings without centrally controlled HVAC.

  • Some bugs

    mariemiles

My experience has not been as bad as the others — set up took 5 minutes, I find the app simple to use — but the schedule is erratic. It seems to be on another time zone. I didn’t bother putting my home address during set up, and the default one was Lithuania. So at first the schedule was responding to Lithunian time zone (10 hours later). I changed the address, but it didn’t do anything. Then I adapted the heater’s schedule to fit the time zone it thinks it in. That worked partially. But there are random changes in schedule that don’t seem to be time zone related. It starts heating middle of the night, etc. Might try to delete the app and start over. That said, I can control the temperature manually. That works well.

  • DO NOT BUY Worst app, terrible product

    ElGoodL

I bought the Kelvin heater specifically so I could set up a schedule and turn it on remotely. The app didn’t work for me for the first month. Finally after many emails to their help desk and an “update” on their end I got the app to set up and link to my heater. The heater has never actually gotten my room to the target temperature but seemed to work ok. Then out of the blue all of my information and schedule was deleted off the app. I’ve tried resetting and just get error messages at every turn. There is no thermostat on the unit itself so now it’s just ON to some unspecified temperature all the time unless I manually turn it off. Expensive junk and total scam. Also btw if you try to return it you have to pay to ship it back to Lithuania which was going to be $700. lol not funny

  • Great customer service!

    Squirgee

While the app may need a little more work, the customer service I’ve received from their support team has been fantastic. The issues that popped up with my order were quickly resolved. Have three units in my home and they work great in the areas I put them in.If you’re a techie, you’ll notice these units have super reliable Shelly controllers internally. Integrated them with my home automation system (Home Assistant) and they work flawlessly.

    Developer Response

Hi Squirgee,Thank you for the wonderful review! We're glad to hear that despite some improvements needed in the app, our customer support team was able to resolve your issues quickly. It’s great to know that your three Klima units are working well and seamlessly integrated with your home automation system! We appreciate your technical insights and are thrilled you’re enjoying the reliability of the Shelly controllers inside. If you ever need anything, don’t hesitate to reach out!Best regards,The Boldr Team

  • Utter garbage

    gogounou

(This is a review for the updated app. The old version was poorly designed, but at least occasionally managed to control the heater. The new version? Good luck.)The app: My needs were few: set the heater to a temperature, turn heater on or off. This app can manage none of this. Instead it presents a needlessly complex way to set up a “smart” schedule. 20 minutes of configuring later, and the heater will turn on - but never turn off. Instead, it runs ceaselessly, cooking the roomregardless of the shut-off temperature chosen. The sensor (a golf ball-sized piece of plastic garbage, destined to be lost beneath a bookshelf) seems to only register temps in Celsius - even when the heater is configured to work in Fahrenheit. The result is a sensor reading 21 degrees, telling the heater to keep going until it reaches 68. I’d prefer if my room were not 68 degrees Celsius, thanks…If you’re reading this, you’ve probably already bought the heater and are as screwed as I am. If, by some stroke of luck, you haven’t, save yourself the money and frustration. Any other heater on the market would be better.

  • DO NOT UPDATE

    MMMMMMAAAAAASSSSSS

It’s too late for me since I can’t get the old version back, but at least it worked for the basic functions needed. I unwisely followed the prompt from the company to download the new versio. Big mistake. I can’t offset the temperature to match the actual temperature, no matter how many times I input the data into the app. It doesn’t do anything. So the heaters are essentially useless, they used to work and now with the new app they don’t. Don’t get me started on the heater itself, I have received 2 replacements, one arrived broken and the other has the same issue as the original—high pitched noise that wakes me up at night. Of course that’s only when it actually turns on.

  • Very glitchy app

    Deepakds

Set up worked fine for me (I was previously using the other Boldr app, which is apparently being deprecated and has its own serious issues). The version works with Google WiFi routers, but the app works only about 60% of the time. And when it does work, it’s very confusing to use. This makes it very difficult to actually set heating schedules that work - I found myself having to manually set the temperature each time I wanted to use a panel because the schedule didn’t work. Hope they improve it quickly because it’s almost unusable.
