  • Face scanning (required feature) non-functional

    dndhdiiernnrennejeskoddkjd

Edit: after finally taking my photo outdoors, against a neutral wall, on a cloudy day without direct sunshine, I was finally able to maybe pass the face scanning (no error that there wasn’t a match). However I now get an error that I had taken *too long* to complete the authorization and I needed to start again for security reasons. It takes me less than 2 minutes the complete the flow, after practicing literally dozens of times I guarantee that there are few people in the world that take *less time* than I do.The passport scanning and NFC functions of the MitID creation flow work very consistently - I know because I have used them dozens of times over multiple hours, having to repeat them over and over because the face scanning simply doesn’t work. I have a brand new passport, with a photo taken only one month ago. I also have a Danish ID with a photo taken one year ago. The app cannot recognize my face to either of these photos. I have tried all the recommendations in the app, I am using a brand new iPhone 15 with updated software. I haven’t grown a beard or gotten facial surgery. I have tried standing in front of blank walls, different lighting conditions. If I am having so much trouble I can only imagine the difficulty of those who have slightly changed their look, have older ID photos, are using phones with lower quality cameras. I know MitID uses a third party face scanning technology, so to an extent it’s wrong to blame MitID, but they should really, really consider changing the technology. AND it’s critical to allow for multiple tries at face scanning without kicking users back to the start of the registration flow.

  • Appears to simply not work

After a dozen attempts, I can only conclude that this app doesn’t function. I can’t speak to MitID management once connected, but the process for signing up is poorly designed and built. The flow for “manual entry” of passport details is completely broken. If I manually enter the details, and then scan my chip, I am returned to the passport details screen. The chip scanning is very unreliable. The app does nothing to suggest signal strength, gives a passive aggressive message suggesting I shouldn’t move my phone while scanning, and when scanning fails (which is almost every time) I have to tap away from the failure message and begin again. The face scan is the worst offender, however. There’s no transparency regarding what the face scan really does — my passport photo is a couple years old and taken with a different lens, so I fail to see how my front camera will be a good match. It’s a shame the sign up doesn’t work — this would otherwise be a much more convenient option.

  • A scanner that doesn’t scan.

    Nikolaj Roadley

This app is a joke. Straight up felt like a movie prop from a spy movie, where a fancy animation creates the illusion that you’re using some spectacular scanning technology, when in fact it’s nothing but a looping animation and pretend play. What’s even better is, when support was notified about the uselessness of their app, they send you a list of bullet points with obvious things to try, like you’re some incompetent person.I rarely review things. I understand things aren’t perfect. But if things don’t work, either fix it or give users who can’t show up at borgerservice an option.

  • Won’t recognize face

    iZENstein

OMG, I’m echoing other reviews here. Second time trying to use the app with a new P-Code to recognize my wife’s face and when it scans face trying to verify off of passport the biometrics fail. Of course they’re going to fail because the passport is a flat image slightly washed out and the verifying portrait is a wide angle close up which will NEVER MATCH the passport. With one time use of P-Code you then need to get another P-Code for an app that puts you in a vicious cycle of failure trying to get a MitID which is urgently needed for Danish identification so we can access a Danish bank account while not in Denmark.

  • Awful

The instructions are incredibly unclear and it keeps rejecting my facial scans. Which makes so sense since I used facial scans and my passport to travel just a month ago, why does this app have such strict and mysterious parameters for their facial scans? Why can’t you redo your facial scans without restarting the entire passport scanning processes?? After 10 failed attempts i just had to give up and home I never need to access digital mail. Anyways why not make the instructions for photos clearer and give individual clear feedback on why photos are getting rejected

  • Doesn’t work on key flow

    Foreign citizen45

Should be pretty easy, right? WRONG, when I try to scan my passport it crashes, mind you this isn’t an edge case, it’s part of the main flow, every foreign citizen who tried this problem experienced the same issue, tried to register and had to go to a citizen center. Why would you even advertise that you can do this online, when a basic function crashes the app. Just remove it at this point, say go to the citizen center and don’t waste your time trying to use this app

  • Still cant activate as non-Dane

    TylerC101

Those of us who had mitid while living in DK automatically have our access to mitid cancelled when we change our address to a foreign address. Why? No one knows, clearly our person doesn’t change just because our address does.To make this infinitely worse, we can’t reactivate without a Danish passport. So out of an excess of incompetence on the part of mitid we can’t access our Danish bank accounts and many other resources we need even once we’ve left.

  • Not working at all - try on NemId

    Superfly2245

Just like everybody else could not get it to work at all. Must be embarrassing to have rolled out an app of this importance for udenlandsdanskere that doesn’t work - to say the least?! Tried a million things but only got the red exclamation point. Somehow got the idea to try getting approved through the NemId although it is after Nov 1, 2022. Got the old app and found the passport and it worked!! So get the passport connected through NemId and then use NemId to get approved on MitId.

  • The app does not work

    Maria@74

I would give it 0 if i could. Very frustrated. I’m sure i know how to use my phone to scan documents. I did not get further than scanning a photo page in my passport. I previously used NemID and it worked well. Hard to beleive that someone in DK, with so many smart IT people, would create such a bad app for general use. Maybe works with ID card or Danish passport. Why made it so complicated for anyone who lives abroad?

  • It works

    Sgaar

This is a second factor in a multi-factor authentication setup. The app does that and that is it. It doesn’t need to do anything else so for that it gets the 5 star rating. Oh, the RIFID scanner works as well.
