Duolingo has helped me improve on my languages and my maths so much over the past few months that I started using it. Before, I didn’t even know how to speak or read Spanish terms. But thanks to Duolingo my Spanish has gotten so much better. It has provided me so much help and I really enjoy using it during my free time and I can’t stop using it when I travel, out with family or friends and even when I’m free at home doing nothing. It gives me a great motivation to continue practicing and practicing because the saying “Practice makes perfect!” I even recommend this app to my friends and family and their feedback is always so positive when I ask them about their progress. In conclusion, I really enjoy it so much and I’m so happy that my friend introduced me to this because now I know the basic words and phrases in Spanish and at the start I had no knowledge about the language. And I’m so thankful for it. Thank you so much Duolingo!! ❤️

When I first started Duolingo there were maybe some ads about super Duolingo, but other than that it was quite manageable. However, now there has been a surplus of ads, which practically force you to get super Duolingo or waste a copious amount of time watching ads while learning. On top of that, Duolingo has replaced hearts with energy, which now instead of deducting a heart for each question you get wrong, deducts one energy for EVERY question regardless if you get it right or wrong. Since you are only given a max of 25 energy, it practically forces you to either wait HOURS for your energy to refill, use your gems, or watch ads. Even though every 5 questions in a row they spin a wheel to give you 1-5 energy back, I think it’s still unfair because even if you get every question in the exercise correct, you still lose energy. Don’t get me wrong, I still love Duolingo. It has really helped me with my German, especially now that I have taken it up as a third language in school. But it’s honestly frustrating because previously I could do up to twenty exercises in one session, but now due to the new energy bar I’ve run out of motivation to do more than five, since each exercise has fifteen questions (if you get all the questions correct), I end up having to watch up to ten ads just to have enough energy to do five exercises. Why can’t they just give us back the full 5 energy if we get five in a row correct, but don’t if we get a question wrong? I would honestly prefer if they brought back the hearts, but it would honestly be a lot more manageable this way. I love Duolingo, but some of its new features are just extremely frustrating.

TLDR: Duolingo has too many tacky ads for me to learn anything.I first installed Duolingo as a free alternative to language classes, and it has helped me progress greatly in languages like German and French. But Duolingo has recently disappointed me by taking up the profiteering methods of 1-star games and inserting the ads of fellow ‘games’ after each lesson. This is not what I signed up for. Sure, when I received a glitch for unlimited hearts on a free account and it got taken away in the recent update, I just put that aside. But by adding such ads after each lesson is such a cheap move. At least people were willing to buy Super and Max plans to get extra benefits and I do enjoy those once in a while, but having to wait out those ads only drains the fun from having finished a lesson. Duolingo, what you have done is going to lose you countless users and potential new ones as well. Sure, you have to balance cost with new sources of income, I admit is important to any business. However, there are definitely other ways to go about this. Duolingo is a fantastic concept but the way that profits and ads are managed now are abysmal. Make a change Duolingo, then you can redeem your 5-stars in due time.

Updates that keep breaking the app keep coming through. Duolingo really loves to spice things up for the sake of it. Messing so many users’ progress up without any prior notice, and there’s no way to even know what “new” words I’ve missed because the app just throws random new words that I’ve never seen before into new sentences and grammatical structures because it feels like it. Then the app gaslights you by telling you that your progress remains the same, just that it has shuffled some levels around. What a colossal mess. If Duolingo is not ready to migrate users to the updated courses without informing its userbase first, without building a robust catch up tool, then you are clearly not ready to roll this “improved update” out. Reset your progress as a last resort? What a joke. Do the words practice or mistakes review? Do the devs even use that useless feature to know that it isn’t helpful in this scenario? Use the AI to help explain the mistakes? The AI doesn’t even know what needs explaining, clumps grammar and new words into a single clause/block and explains the bare minimum. Use that? WHAT. A. JOKE. And not all exercises have an “Explain my Mistake” button. That’s the proverbial cherries on top of a delusional cake, Duoflungo. Paid for a subscription for learning progress to be impeded by the team I’m paying to. Absolutely incredulous. Maybe spend less time and money on marketing and all those fancy new owl animation gimmicks and start fixing what needs to be fixed without screwing your learners over and over again for the umpteenth time? Oh, forget about contacting support. They’ll just issue you a ticket and never reply you.

This app amazes me but I earned some diamonds maybe 15 and they said there’s was errors so I kept trying to go back into the game but my diamonds were not given to me and I also updated the app but still the diamonds weren’t given….. and a lot of times my audios are missing even tho I am not offline hence I gave it a three star. I like the games it helps me a lot with learning new languages and sometimes I will take the music course. I have tried the math course but it did not work out as even if I press intermediate the lessons are really easy and was made for a 5-7 year old child. I hope you can sort this out duolingo! So that others can also enjoy their time learning new things! I also think that more hearts should’ve given and not only five as people who learn a new languages make many mistakes so it is not very likely to complete more than two lessons with a limited amount of hearts, I know that we can get the unlimited hearts or a family plan and I also get that you guys have made a huge effort to make this app amazing and up to everyone’s standard. But giving unlimited hearts is also a disadvantage as you therefore do not need to care about your mistakes and can just keep pressing the same answer and skip looking at the correct answer, that why I think we should have at least 8-10 and super duolingo a reasonable amount of hearts a day instead of unlimited that way we can learn to learn from our mistakes and also won’t be frustrated that we keep losing heart and have to wait 4 hours for just one star, even if there was practice the practice is still level one thing but I think I should be the at the level we did already instead of the first lesson.Thank you for reading what I have commented and I am totally not forcing you to apply these changes as I know setting up the game is already very hard.

This app is an excellent way to learn a new language or brush up on your speaking skills. I have taken the German course, and I am really enjoying the motivational staff that keeps me going effortlessly.However, I would like to highlight one concern: I’m not entirely sure if someone who has not been exposed to the language before will fully grasp the grammar rules. I have previously studied German, so many of the mechanisms that are not explained in the app—such as how articles change in the accusative and dative cases, or when to use the accusative, dative, and genitive cases—make sense to me because I already know the background. It seems that the app focuses on teaching the most important aspects of everyday language without providing a solid foundation in the underlying grammar.Notwithstanding, this is a brilliant app and it does deserve a solid 5 star, job well done in keeping me addicted to learning a new language !

I am trying to learn French. There is an issue with section 2: unit 13, which prevents you to complete the section and therefore proceed further with your learning. It is a 4th day I still waiting when it will be resolve if ever. No reply, no updates. I am in Japan and subscribed for “super Duo”- the only subscription available in this region , however when you press on the sign “explain my mistake “ - it shows an error message and ask to upgrade the subscription, when pressing on upgrade the subscription it again show an error message that upgrades does not available in your region. I find all this frustrating, the material explained poorly- so you need to google / outsource the explanations, the bugs are not fixed, the communication is absent. Also there is in app sales going on like to buy power or time to complete the quest. So if you have a physical impairment with your limbs ( like joint stiffness or slow motion or arthritis) you basically won’t be able to finish most of the quests on time- such a discrimination. Personally I regret that I bought the 1 year plan. My advise do not loose your time and money with Duolingo app.

I've gotten quite far learning Japanese, but I keep getting spammed by ads of Super Duolingo and its benefits. 'Support our mission to make education free for millions' Wow, very free if I can't learn because I have lives and it's very fun to watch your streak break just because you ran out of lives to learn more. I just want to learn, but I have to wait 5 hours just to get my lives back and start learning JUST TO LOSE THEM AGAIN. Don't get me wrong, Duolingo is an awesome language learning app, but the fact there are lives that you must save just to learn and ads that slow down your learning process just make it worse. Super Duolingo is a good thing to have, but it's quite expensive and the phrase 'Support our mission to make education free for everyone' is quite false. Duolingo, you're just trying to fish out money from everyone. Hook them in then take their money. Good tactics, but what about the people that actually WANT to learn but CAN'T because of these STUPID Super Duolingo ads and STUPID lives. Wow, can't believe my rage let me yap for this long

Duolingo is an amazing app, it is really good and honestly which really helps me with being consistent with my Chinese learning. However there is a few features of the app that annoy me for example when you are using the free version you have to pay with gems to do the legendary levels. I find this quite unfair as with the paying version it is completely free. They keep updating the courses which annoys me as well because I was learning about locations and then they update it and suddenly my lessons are about shopping in a supermarket? And most annoyingly I recently used all of my hearts and had to use gems to get them back mid lesson and I use my gems but the next minute I still don’t have hearts, I did this twice and lost 1200 gems just because of this glitch. I hope that this doesn’t happen again because it is incredibly frustrating. If not it is an amazing app and incredibly useful and it is definitely an app I recommend.

This is an app that you can learn language. It is actually a good choice if you want to learn languages such as Spanish, English and others. However, this app is expensive . If you downloaded Duolingo Max, you will be able to video call but whenever you still want to chat , the character will say ,” well I have to go ,OK?” and you can’t even stop it from saying that. It just ends the call with a ,” see you next time.” The day streak, sometimes after you did it and they said two free the ice thing and it can help you if you forget to do it and then the next day it just says spend 500 gems to keep your streak. When I was doing Duolingo as usual today, I wanted to score more to get to the first but when I became first place the first time, after doing another chapter, I became second again! After that, I wanted to do more and it said that I will get 60 xp and it was 223 xp at first. After doing it, my xp only increased to 243. And I did it again. This time, it increased from243 to 263. Can you explain why did this happened to me?
