Our mission is to make art more democratic without compromising quality. We want to offer tools to every artist to unleash their potential and reach out to their audience efficiently. Public appreciation, not a gallerist’s personal choice, should determine success. However, for the public, relevance and quality are what matter most. In short, we want every artist to find their audience, and at the same time, everyone looking for paintings, drawings, illustrations, or other types of art can find exactly what they are looking for and like most. We know that it's not easy to combine these requirements, but this goal fascinates us.
We want to create a platform and a community, an art-centred social network with a marketplace, where you, as an artist, are seen by the people who love precisely the type of work you are doing. Irrespective of your artistic background (like formal education or success elsewhere) if people like your work you can become popular. This is what should matter. We understand that as an artist, one can learn and evolve over time. Our aim is to support you in this process and help you to share your amazing art with the world. Becoming a famous artist requires a great deal of work. We can’t change that, but we can help to make this process more efficient and enjoyable.
We are currently a small startup. Please, be aware that some functionality might still not be implemented. We will work hard on adding new exciting features. Do you have feedback for us? Contact us at artpic.org/contact
more Our biggest update yet — new features, plus a big wave of fixes, improvements and polish, with extra care for older devices.
NEW FEATURES
• Automatic theme. Until now you could only pick Light or Dark by hand, and Artpic ignored your device's own setting. Now Artpic can follow your device automatically and switch the moment it does, even while the app is open. There are three options: Automatic (system default), Always light mode, and Always dark mode. Your current choice is kept; new installs start on Automatic.
• A branded launch animation. The app's smooth opening animation (the blue colour filling the screen) now shows the Artpic logo.
BIG IMPROVEMENTS
• Deleting posts is much faster. Deletes used to clear everything tied to a post one piece at a time, so the more followers you had, the longer you waited — up to around 20 seconds for large followings. Those long waits are gone: most deletions now finish in a few seconds or less, and deleting several in a row is near-instant. Deletion is also more thorough and safe to retry.
• Challenge streaks load instantly. Your streak used to be counted week by week over the internet, so a long streak took a while to appear and showed nothing in the meantime. It now loads in one go and shows up immediately.
• A big keyboard overhaul. Typing across the app is much smoother and more reliable now:
- In chats and comments, the text box used to snap into place only after the keyboard fully slid in, and could end up half-hidden behind it. It now glides with the keyboard and sits neatly just above it.
- Tapping a field could scroll to slightly the wrong spot, and dragging to scroll could jump or freeze. Fields now land in the right place, scrolling stays smooth, and you can tap straight from one field to the next.
- Chats, comments, post descriptions and text posts had no word suggestions; predictive text now works in all of them.
- The typing cursor and text-selection highlight were sometimes invisible in light mode; they are now clearly visible.
- If the keyboard was open when a popup or loading screen appeared, it used to stay on top and could hide their buttons; it now closes on its own.
- On some older iPhones, closing the keyboard in a chat or comment could briefly leave a second, frozen copy of the text box on screen — that double box is gone.
- The area behind the keyboard's rounded corners — and, on the newest iPhones, its see-through parts — used to show other content peeking through; it now has a clean, solid backdrop.
BETTER ON OLDER & LOWER-END DEVICES
• Profile pictures, cards and other rounded graphics could flicker, disappear, or show distorted gradients while scrolling on some older devices — they now display correctly.
• The whole screen could shift slightly whenever the status bar hides (for example while zooming a post); it now stays put.
OTHER FIXES & IMPROVEMENTS
• The information text on the text-post screen was almost unreadable in dark mode; it is now clearly legible.
• The hashtags field would not let you paste when creating an image post; now it does.
• Tapping away from a field, or returning to the app while one was selected, could make the content jump and hide it behind the keyboard; fixed.
• Input fields now sit evenly above the keyboard, and no longer scroll further than intended while it is open.
UNDER THE HOOD & SECURITY
• Added behind-the-scenes tools that help us look into reports of spam, scams and abusive accounts, so we can keep Artpic a safe space for artists.
• Groundwork to better support the wide range of devices our users have — which enabled many of the older-device fixes above.
• Modernised and slimmed down some internal systems, including sharing.
• Fixed some behind-the-scenes issues in the messaging system.
• Various small text tweaks and minor fixes throughout.
Thank you for using Artpic — even more improvements and features are on the way very soon!
4.5 10 Jul
Big update incoming. We've modernized Artpic under the hood and added a batch of improvements and fixes to make everyday use smoother.
HIGHLIGHTS:
- Artpic is now ad-free. Ads were already rare here, and we've removed them entirely — we'd rather Artpic stay a clean, focused space for your art.
- The keyboard's "Done" key now reliably moves you to the next field, or closes the keyboard when there's nothing left to fill in — no more fields where "Done" did nothing. (Especially handy on iPhone, where there's no system back button to dismiss the keyboard.)
- Significant under-the-hood updates. We've refreshed Artpic's core components — including a more reliable Google sign-in — for better stability and smoother updates going forward.
OTHER IMPROVEMENTS & FIXES:
- Tidied up the screen where you create an account or sign in, so its layout now matches the rest of the app.
- Fixed a quick blue flash that could appear in dark mode right after the splash screen.
- Fixed a rare issue where tapping "Continue" on the welcome screen did nothing.
- Plus a range of smaller polish and stability improvements throughout.
Thanks for using Artpic — keep creating!
4.4 2 Jul
Big News! A major update is here with exciting improvements, crucial fixes, and a brand-new Notification Menu!
- Introducing the Notification Menu!
Now, all your notifications – new likes, comments, followers, and more – are conveniently gathered in one place. You'll find this new menu in its own dedicated tab in the bottom carousel navigation.
Each notification is packed with details: the type of action (like, follow, etc.), the exact date and time, a quick link to the user's profile, and the ability to open a post preview for notifications related to posts (likes, pins, comments). Speaking of post previews, this is another new addition! You can now directly open and view a single, specific post without scrolling through your feed to find it. You have full control: delete notifications one by one (with a cool shattering animation!) or clear them all at once.
- Major Bug Fix: Instant Content Loading!
We've squashed a significant bug! Previously, if you left the app in the background and returned, content could take a long time (up to tens of seconds) to load. This is now fixed! Content should load immediately when you return to the app.
Other Fixes and Enhancements:
- Improved Link Tapping: Links in posts now require a deliberate tap, preventing accidental triggers while scrolling.
- Easy Contact: We've added contact info to the settings menu. You can now easily start an in-app chat with Artpic staff via a link there.
- Faster Image Loading: Fixed an issue where smaller image versions weren't loading in 2 or 3 column feed views. Images in these modes should now load faster and with less lag.
- Grammar Fix: Corrected the "1 hours ago" / "1 days ago" phrasing for last online status in chats.
- Plus, several other bug fixes and improvements to make your experience smoother.
4.2 30/05/2025
A new big design feature in this update - transparent status and navigation bars!
- New big user interface feature: transparent top and bottom bars.
- Now, the top bars (where the menu titles are) and the bottom navigation carousel menu bar will slowly fade as you scroll down in feeds. When you scroll back up, they gradually become opaque again.
- This also applies to the system's status bar (where the clock, battery, and notifications are) and navigation bar (where the home button area is).
- This way, you will have more space to see posts and other content!
- The bars don't become fully transparent, just semi-transparent (it would have been confusing otherwise).
- This feature is implemented in almost all feeds (if there is enough content), except for chats and comments.
- If you want the bars to become fully opaque again, just scroll up.
- The transparency adjusts based on the visibility of the top bar. If it is fully visible, the bars stay opaque. If it is fully hidden, the bars turn semi-transparent.
- This feature was also added to the profile feeds, even though there are no hideable top bars.
- When you reach the end of a feed, the system's navigation bar, along with the navigation carousel menu, will return to full opacity.
Important fixes and improvements:
- Added a confirmation popup when clicking on links to prevent accidental navigation to external websites.
- Fixed an issue where user UIs (user UI is the panel where a user's name, username, icon, etc... is in one place) wouldn't load after returning from some other tab (E.g., if you open the "User exploration" tab, then go to some different tab and return back, the user UIs wouldn't load. This was now fixed.).
- Fixed an issue where clicking the "Go to challenges" button in your profile menu didn't update the bottom navigation carousel menu to the correct position for the challenges tab.
Small fixes and improvements (you can skip reading this if you don't want to):
- Corrected text to display "1 hour ago" (instead of "1 hours ago") and "1 day ago" (instead of "1 days ago") in the user UIs and also in user profile menu online status (you can access it by opening the profile options popup and clicking the 3 dots in the top right corner of each user profile menu). Also made the user profile menu online status text green if it is "Online now".
- Resolved an issue where the bottom navigation carousel menu continued scrolling inertially for some time, even after reaching the last navigation panel on the right.
- Redesigned the search button in the World Feed (where the latest posts from all users are displayed) to make it more prominent and easier to notice.
- In the "User exploration" tab, when switching between different feed types or pressing the "Switch order" button, the scroller containing the "Switch order" button and info text now automatically scrolls to the beginning (so that a user can read the feed type description from the beginning immediately without the need to scroll to the beginning when the scroller is not in the beginning).
- Adjusted the transparency of the post feed column back button (a button that appears in the 1-column view mode and takes you back to 2 or 3 columns) so it now matches the appearance of the status bar and top bar when they are semi-transparent.
- When switching between 1, 2, or 3-column views in post feeds, the feed will now automatically scroll to the top (this is applied to all feeds except profile feeds, which is either your profile or other users' profiles).
- When scrolling down, the top bars now hide at a slightly slower speed for a more natural transition.
- When opening the "Settings" menu, the "Start tab" will now appear centered.
- A couple of other minor improvements.
4.1 17/09/2024
A new update has arrived after a long time, and it brings some big features and many improvements!
Big new features:
- Carousel bottom navigation:
changed the bottom navigation menu from being a static bar to a dynamic carousel menu. Now, you can scroll through the bottom navigation menu! This new carousel menu includes nice animations and added vibrations for enhanced user experience.
- A new tab: User exploration.
This update brings a new tab called "User exploration", which lets you explore all Artpic users in a convenient and easy way! It allows you to sort all users based on one of these nine sorting criteria:
1. posts count
2. pins count
3. challenge posts count
4. followers count
5. following count
6. last time online
7. name
8. username
9. account registration date
You can choose either ascending or descending order of users for each one of these. A description text explains each chosen combination of sorting criteria and order.
- A completely new, much more informative user UI!
The new "User exploration" tab prompted us to rework the user UI (user lists contain user UIs). Up until now, the user UI only contained the icon, name, posts count, followers count, and follow button. We thought it would be better to display as much information about each user as possible in a small space without opening the user's profile. That's why we completely reworked the user UI from the ground up. So now, it also contains the username, challenge posts count, pins count, following count, last time online, account registration date, and chat button (only if you follow the user; if you don't follow, the follow button is shown, though it is much smaller than before).
Although the new user UI is larger than before (so fewer of them fit on the screen), you can see much more information now.
Important fixes and improvements:
- Fixed links in post comments and chats not being clickable.
- Made "@" a valid URL part, so now the character "@" doesn't break URLs.
- Fixed many special characters not showing in the name in profile menus.
- Added last online status to each user's profile menu. You can access it by opening the profile options popup and clicking the 3 dots in the top right corner of each user profile menu.
- Now, when using the scroll-up button (available in post feeds and user lists), content doesn't reload unnecessarily during fast, automatic scrolling up as it used to, resulting in better app performance when using this scroll-up button.
- The online indicator is now green if the user has been online within the last 5 minutes (was just 1 minute before).
Small, insignificant fixes and improvements (you can skip reading this if you don't want to):
- In group chats, when the chat title in the top bar is clicked, the group chat members list is shown (nothing happened before when clicked).
- Changed the functionality of the "no internet" popup that appears when internet connection problems are detected. Now, the popup can be closed, so users are not prevented from using the app, even though they may have internet connection issues.
- Slightly improved the share text when sharing a post.
- Changed the color of the date text in messages (the text that tells when the message was written) in dark mode from blue to black to make it more readable.
- After uploading a challenge post, the success popup now mandatorily shows for 6 seconds instead of 8 seconds as before. Also added an explosion effect to the particle effect animation, which shows when this success popup opens.
- Removed the option to "Add new members" to group chats (it didn't work previously).
- Fixed the horizontal line at the bottom of each dropdown menu being visible in the system's status bar when scrolled enough up. This happened in the medium/topic dropdown menus in the image post upload menu.
- Fixed the wrong color of a line in the user profiles in light mode.
- Various other minor improvements.
4.0 28/08/2024
A small update with some improvements and fixes:
- Added support for Arabic and Bengali scripts in the user-generated texts. Now, you can write comments, messages, post texts, and any other texts in Arabic and Bengali. The Arabic script is not working in left-to-right mode yet.
- Fixed a rare bug where you could send a notification to yourself if you like/comment your post.
- Fixed the "+" character not being recognised as a valid URL part. Now, URLs with the "+" will appear and work properly.
- Fixed a bug when comment creation time is not shown (only the date was shown without time) after clicking on a comment. Now, both the comment's creation date and the comment's creation time will be shown.
- Comment creation date and time will be shown by default on each comment instead of being hidden by default. Now, if you click on a comment, the comment creation date and time text will hide (and appear again if you click on it again).
- Fixed a bug where the last few challenges were not showing up in the challenge list.
- Added animation to the feed chooser bar when switching between the newest/most liked/most pinned/most commented feeds.
- Some other small improvements.
3.3 07/03/2024
A dark mode was added! And also some other important fixes.
- A new color theme was added: dark mode. If you switch to dark mode, many things in the app will appear darker.
You can switch to dark mode (and back to light mode) manually in the settings (we will add an option to automatically turn dark mode on/off based on your system's settings in the future).
- Potentially fixed a critical crash happening when creating a new account.
- Fixed a bug where the wrong feed is shown if very quickly switching between the newest/most liked/most pinned/most commented feeds.
- Made the background of the post likes/post pins/post comments/post details menus more translucent so that you can see the post behind the menu when it is opened.
- Added button color dim tint effect (when clicked) to some buttons that didn't have this effect before.
- Fixed a bug where the splash panel is not shown when the app is launched, and you have a menu other than the main feed as your first tab.
- A lot of very minor design improvements.
- Some other small improvements.
3.2 12/02/2024
A small update containing a couple of fixes.
- Fixed a bug where content is shown behind the status bar when scrolling the post likes or post pins list (this bug was introduced in the last update).
- Fixed not being able to change a profile picture.
- Fixed wrong scroll bar position in challenge feeds.
3.1 01/02/2024
A large update with some big features and tons of minor fixes and improvements!
- A new big feature: added 3 new feeds of most liked, most pinned and most commented posts!
You will find these new feeds in the same tab as the main feed, where the latest posts are shown.
- New big user interface feature: hideable top bars.
Now, the top bars (where the menu titles are) will slowly hide when you scroll down in the feed and show again when you scroll up.
This way, you will have more screen space to see posts.
If you want the top bar to appear again, just scroll up - it will appear again quickly.
- Challenge posts will now show up in the main feed. So if you create a challenge post, it will show up in the main feed as well.
- On the posts where the number of followers of the post author is shown, the number of posts will also be shown. Also added the number of posts to each user in the user lists.
- On the posts where the date of the post is shown, the day of the week will also be shown.
- Added a warning popup when a user tries to post non-artistic content.
- Redesigned the challenge feed top bar (made the title larger, changed the buttons' backgrounds).
- Added the visual confetti effect when you click on your profile streak status after you complete a challenge in any given week.
- Fixed post details menu not loading properly after going back to it from an other tab.
- Tons of other new features, improvements and fixes.
3 22/01/2024
Some small features were added in this update.
- Added an ability to change profile name. You can change your profile name in the settings.
- Added image safety check to comments, chats and profile pictures. Now, inappropriate images will be blocked from being uploaded everywhere.
- Added a button to the chat to open a profile of the user you are chatting with. The same functionality was also added to the group chats, when showing members using using "Show members", you can then click on a member to open the profile.
- Each comment now has the ability to open the user's profile. You can click on the user's profile picture or name in the comment, and it will open the user's profile.
- Added a button to delete all AI-generated hashtags to the upload image post menu.
- Upload image post menu was slightly redesigned.
- Fixed "More" button not being clickable on some posts.
- Some other minor improvements.
2.3 08/01/2024
New big feature - post sharing!
- Added a new ability to share posts. Now, you can share each post anywhere you want. You can share your posts or posts made by other users.
- Added an option to reorder bottom navigation bar buttons. You can find this new option in the settings.
- Warning about using generative AI tools in challenges was removed. Now, you can freely use generative AI when completing challenges. In fact, we will add an image-generation tool to Artpic soon!
- Added a new personalized popup with a visual confetti effect after completing a challenge. Each time you complete a challenge, you will randomly get one of 3 possible confetti effects.
- Fixed links not being clickable in text posts.
- Fixed links not showing properly when having more than 1 same URL in a text.
- A bunch of other minor improvements and fixes.
2.2 26/12/2023
Added challenge streaks! And a bunch of small improvements.
- Added streak information to each profile. Increase your streak by completing weekly challenges.
- Click on the streak in your profile to show information about the status of your streak.
- Added challenge posts tab to each profile. All your challenge posts will be in this new section.
- Redesigned profile section.
Other changes and improvements:
- Allowed more aspect ratios of images. From now on, you can post wider and taller images than ever before.
- Switched positions of "Challenges" and "Posts by users you follow" menus so that the challenges menu is second now (to emphasize its importance).
- Removed warning popup when creating a post with no custom hashtags. Many people don't want to use custom hashtags, so showing a warning popup only distracts new users from posting their first post.
- Fixed upload image post menu showing behind status and navigation bar.
- Many other small changes and improvements.
2.1 17/11/2023
A big content update!
- Challenges were added! Every week, a new challenge starts. Complete a challenge each week and become a better artist over time.
- A dedicated menu for challenges was added. You can access it by tapping a star button in the bottom panel.
- You have one week to complete a challenge. After that, you will no longer be able to complete it. Be sure to complete challenges because we will add a streak indicator in a future update.
- Every challenge has a different topic, so rest assured they will be exciting.
Other improvements:
- Added a new medium option: "AI Art". If the art you upload on Artpic is generated using artificial intelligence, use an "AI Art" topic when creating a post.
- Added support for URLs in bios. You can put your website address in your bio, and every user will be able to click on it.
- Fixed posts not loading in the "Posts by users you follow" feed.
- Fixed not being able to scroll posts when opening some users' profiles.
- Added a closing animation when closing some menus.
- Added a new animation when opening the app.
- Some other small changes and improvements.
2 21/10/2023
Various bugs were fixed, and some small features were added. Read more below if you want to know the exact changes made:
- A new feature was added - scroll up button. When you scroll down enough on a feed, a button will appear. If you click on that button, you will be taken back to the top of the feed. The button was not only added to the post feeds, but also to the user lists, like followers, post likes, etc...
- Added a way to like posts when 2 or 3 columns are shown - just hold the image for half a second and the post will be liked (and a floating heart will be generated). In the 1-column feed, we will keep the old way of creating likes - double tapping (yeah, if you didn't know - in a 1-column feed you can like a post by double-tapping it).
- Reduced the size of the downloadable app by approximately 5 MB.
Now a changelog of all the fixes:
- Fixed a major bug when your posts can appear on somebody else's profile.
- Fixed emojis not being able to show up. Now you can write text with emojis (although not all emojis are supported).
- Fixed user lists not showing more than 20 users. Also fixed a bug when no users are shown in the list if there is a user in the list who deleted an account.
- Fixed the zooming bug, where zooming was stopped immediately after it was started for the first time on a post.
- Fixed not being able to delete an account.
- Fixed various small problems during the registration and logging process. A user experience was improved when creating a new account.
- Added show/hide more button to the settings. Now you must click on the \"Show more\" button to see the account deletion button, policies text and app version info.
- From now on the chat button is also shown on the profiles, which you don't follow. But to open a chat, you still need to follow the account.
- Other small fixes and improvements.
1.4 10/09/2023
Added an ability to view posts in multiple columns!
- Now each feed not only has 1 column, but you can switch to 2 columns or 3 columns freely.
- In 2 or 3 columns, only images will appear and nothing else. To see likes, comments, post details, etc... you need to click on an image, and the usual 1 column will appear.
- In 2 or 3 columns, you can also zoom images (as in the 1 column). But to see higher-quality images, you need to open just 1 column. Because the maximal size of the images in 1 column is 2048x2048, while in 2 and 3 columns it is only 512x512.
- From now on text posts will not appear in the "All posts:" feed.
1.3 04/09/2023
Greatly expanded notifications.
- Now you will receive a push notification in these 5 cases: when somebody starts following you, when somebody likes or pins your post, when somebody comments on your post, or when you receive a message from some user.
- Remember: you must grant notification permission in the phone's settings in order to receive notifications.
- Stay tuned for future updates: In one of the upcoming updates, we will add notification settings where you will be able to choose which notifications to get. For now, you can turn all notifications either on or off in your phone's settings.
- Tracking permission prompt moved to second app launch and added explanation before prompting a user.
- Added ad consent for users in European Economic Area
- Some bug fixes and other improvements.
1.2 21/07/2023
- added the ability to create an account (or log in to your account) using your Apple ID or Google account
