Whether you’re a video-making newbie or a longtime pro, use Filmr to add text, filters and special effects like augmented reality (AR) to videos you’ve shot on your iPhone or iPad. And when you’re done with all that, share your creation on your favourite social and video apps.
Every video in Filmr exists as its own project. In any project, you can combine multiple videos and photos – either taken from your Camera Roll or shot directly in Filmr itself. Select the files you want to edit, then start adding any extras.
While editing a project, notice the menu bar across the top of the screen. Here you’ll see the options of adding music, text, filters, GIFs and changing the video’s format (from vertical to horizontal or square). The music possibilities are especially rich, with more than 20 million songs available from Filmr’s licensed music library, plus the option to sync with Apple Music.
When combining multiple videos and photos in one project, you’ll see each file at the bottom of your screen. Rearrange the files and use helpful sliders to trim them. Tap the blue edit button next to each file to speed up a video clip or have it play in slow motion.
At the bottom of the screen is a blue button with a plus sign. Tapping that lets you either add more files from your Camera Roll or launch Filmr’s camera to shoot more video. In the camera you can unlock Filmr’s AR features, known as Filmr Toys.
Add Filmr Toys to videos, giving the effect of computer-animated characters (think unicorns, snowmen and dragons) moving around in your real-world settings. Usually the characters do some sort of dance (like a breakdancing Santa Claus) or trick (like a lanky blue alien that flies into the sky).
With a Pro membership, unlock even more Filmr Toys, plus unlimited access to new fonts, GIFs, filters and special effects.
One last tip: in the menu bar up top, tap the button all the way to the right – it looks like an upward-pointed arrow – to save your video to your iPhone’s or iPad’s Camera Roll (in resolution up to 4K) and then share your video directly to the platform of your choice.
