Xcode offers the tools you need to develop, test, and distribute apps for Apple platforms, including predictive code completion, generative intelligence powered by the best coding models, advanced profiling and debugging tools, and simulators for Apple devices. It enables a unified workflow that spans from the earliest stages of app development to testing, debugging, optimization, and app distribution to testers and users. And with the Swift programming language, Xcode makes developing apps easy and fun.
Simulator enables rapid prototyping and testing of your app in a simulated environment when a real device isn't available. Instruments helps you profile and analyze your app, improve performance, and investigate system resource usage. And you can use Icon Composer to design stunning layered icons out of Liquid Glass, Reality Composer Pro to create spatial content, train custom machine learning models with Create ML, and identify potential accessibility issues with Accessibility Inspector.
To test or run applications on an Apple device, all you need is a free Apple Account. To submit your apps to the App Store, you must be a member of the Apple Developer Program. Some features may require internet access and may not be available in all regions or on all Apple devices.

Not bad, but far from great

Overall Xcode is not bad, but in the last year it got slower and slower. Now it sometimes takes minutes to launch even a small app on my iPhone. Indexing takes forever. The biggest issue is the ridiculous amount of free space required for update. Even with 35GB free disk space is not enough for updating a 11GB sized IDE.
Does not start

It does not start after shutdown the Mac with the reopen windows option. Freeze in full-screen mode forever. It happened just before my relevant demo. I did use the product as it supposed to. Ignore the reopen option of the operating system if it won't work with Xcode. That even better than killing the developer environment. A core function crashes in a critical moment: result you look incompetent who should have known and should have tested before the demo. The very reason I have switched to Apple from Microsoft is the reliability. I don't mind difficulties during the development process, but the development environment itself must start each time every time.
It's pretty good but leaves some things to be desired

Apple has always been about making things the way you want them to be, and easy to use, however XCode is their first major outliar. The devices tab, the settings, everything is overcomplicated, however, the live preview of the files is what saves the editor. It's fast, it's sleek, it's good
Huge improvement!

Xcode 9 is so much better than the previous versions! I love the new intelligent highlights and the autocorrect features. Also, it finally shows storyboard issues in a meaningful way. The IDE feels snappier overall. And refactoring works as it should have. Thanks for this great update! Way to go!
