Keeping your kids safe while watching online video shouldn’t feel impossible, but it often does. Inappropriate or misleading content can sometimes appear even in popular kids’ video experiences. That’s why we created YouApprove, a parent-managed way to give your child access to fun and educational videos while keeping you in control.
Designed for families who want more than algorithm-based filters, YouApprove puts parents in charge of their child’s video experience. Only channels you approve can be viewed, helping reduce the risk of unwanted recommendations, misleading uploads, or unexpected content.
How YouApprove Works
Most kids’ video apps rely heavily on automated systems to decide what is appropriate. YouApprove takes a different approach by giving parents direct control over which channels their child can access.
Videos are displayed only from YouTube channels that the parent has approved. For example, you can approve a trusted educational channel such as National Geographic Kids and make its videos available in Child Mode.
No random channel discovery. No unwanted recommendations. You decide what your child can watch.

A FAMILIAR HOME
Home, Channels, You, Search, and Discover now follow the layout kids already understand — a left sidebar on iPad, a clean destination bar on iPhone. Progress bars, selected states, and controls use YouApprove blue, never YouTube red.
The new You tab is their trusted library: Continue Watching, Recently Watched, Favorites, new videos from approved channels, and any Collections you make. History pages through the full recent library. Channels in the rail rise to the top based on what they actually watched this week.
ASK A GROWN-UP
When something isn’t approved, kids can ask instead of hitting a dead end. You get an in-app inbox every time, plus optional push on your phone, or Pass the Ask by text. Approve a whole channel, just this video, one time, or until a date. Unapproved videos never play — not from Home, Favorites, Search, Discover, or resume.
FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY
Invite a co-parent to share approvals, limits, and reports. Give each child their own profile, channels, and history (up to four on Premium). Weekly reports show watch time by channel and how this week compares to last. Curate Collections from a dedicated Parent tab. Turn Shorts on Home on or off per child.
SETUP AND POLISH
Onboarding is rebuilt for iPhone and iPad. Playback recovers calmly instead of going blank. Home stays put while new videos sync in the background. Switching kids is faster and safer.
Please update YouApprove on every family device so approvals, asks, and profiles stay in sync.
Free still includes your PIN, time limits, and a 6-channel approved library. Premium unlocks unlimited channels, Discover & Search, co-parent, extra profiles, Collections, weekly trends, and unlimited asks.
