Date Calculator
Time Jump for iPhone & iPad is a full-featured date calculator (counts the days between two dates) that uses side-by-side calendars to allow you to flip backward and forward in time. Tap on dates and instantly see the time difference between them in days and business days as well as the total time in years, months, weeks and days. Based on a recent customer request, results are also displayed in weeks & days.
Don't want to flip through calendars? Double-tap on the selected date above either calendar and use the date picker to select a specific date – your birthday, a project deadline, an anniversary – anything. Time Jump supports dates up to 2,000 years in the past or the future. You can always tap days directly on the calendar to fine tune your selection.
Time Jump's DateCalc
When you need to do a specific calculation - like 180 days from a date, 45 business days before a date, 40 weeks from a date, etc. - use the DateCalc feature that allows you to add/subtract days, business days, weeks, months or years to/from any date.
Business Day Calculations
In addition to calendar days, Time Jump quickly and easily calculates the number of business days between two dates – this can be essential for project managers, shippers, attorneys, software developers, manufacturers – anyone working in business days. Time Jump can take US Federal and State holidays into account (skipping them) when calculating business days and you can select exactly which holidays to skip. You can also add your own custom days off (Personal Days) that are skipped for business day calculations. You can even set which days of the week are considered business days if you need to use something other than Monday through Friday.
Integrated with Your iPhone/iPad Calendar
Time Jump - with your permission - can be fully integrated with your iPhone/iPad calendar. You can see events - and even create or delete them - from within Time Jump. A tap on the selected date above either calendar and you will see a list of the calendar events you have chosen to view from within Time Jump in the Date Detail View. Use the Time Jump settings to select one, some or all of your calendars - including your Google calendar.
Create Custom Days Off for Business Day Calculations
As mentioned above, in addition to standard business day calculations, you can also add your own custom days off - Personal Days - (vacations, travel, school schedules, etc.) and Time Jump will treat these days as non-business days in the business day calculations. Of course, you can use settings to turn this feature on and off. Time Jump allows you to create your days off directly from within the app - and then they will appear in your selected iPhone calendar.
Time Jump Date Detail View
The Date Detail View shows you more details about a selected date: holiday information and/or a list of activities from your iPhone/iPad calendar (if you've given Time Jump permission to take a look). Once you've done a calculation you may wonder what's on your calendar and you can see your schedule from within Time Jump.

Time Jump does not use a network connection during normal operation - use it anywhere, anytime. It does use a network connection if you access our website from within the app or provide app feedback directly to us.

Oh, Hi ! We stepped into the Quantum Realm and didn't realize how long we were gone ( for us it was just a couple of minutes ).
We did fix a couple of small bugs while we were there... clipped text in any of the list views, tweaks to our what's new code, converted more code from Objective-C to Swift.
We're back now so you can expect more regular updates.

The holiday season is upon us once again and we love it here at Time Theory World Headquarters... decking the halls, holiday libations ( eggnog, mulled wine, tequila ( please, drink responsibly and never drink and drive )).
What's new in Time Jump:
With this release we've dropped support for iOS 16. The base iOS is now 17.6.
This required us to rewrite the code that deals with trait collection changes ( light to dark mode specifically )
We'll have more visible UI changes in the new year.

Autumn in New England... trees changing colors, getting the final crops harvested before the first frost, getting the snow blowers out of their summer storage locations ( yuck ).
The grounds here at Time Theory World Headquarters are glowing with natures fall colors, but that didn't stop us from getting our updates to Time Jump done.
What's new: mostly minor internal changes.
A new Settings icon ( replaced the gear icon with the 3 vertical sliders from SFSymbols ).
Added more descriptive text in the Settings view so you can better understand your options.
Fixed a bug in the display of a full day, month, year string that also showed the time ( found while testing on iOS 18 )

Earth Day... Ahhh, the 70's, a time of great hope and optimism.
Some of our team members here at Time Theory World Headquarters were in high school, some in college, none of us imagined that we'd be walking around some 40 years later with these little super computers in our pockets, let alone having the fun of writing software for them.
But here we are !
What's new in this release ?
The month and day names on our calendars now display in your devices preferred language.
We also made some code changes to stave off future bugs ( Xcode warned us that certain things were ok for now, but wouldn't be in the future ).
( that explanation is about as cryptic as the warning message Xcode was giving us ).

Well, it took quite a bit of effort to make our way back to Time Theory World Headquarters ( I mean, really, who prefers a gray rainy March in New England over warm sand, tropical breezes and palm trees ? ) but we did it.
To celebrate we thought we'd put out a new version of Time Jump where you'll see absolutely nothing different !
There are significant changes on the inside, however.
You know the phrase, new year, new you... we're doing our yoga and working on our core strength, and rewriting some of the internal workings of Time Jump in Swift ( originally written in Objective-C ).
Go to: Settings > About Time Jump. Everything that comes up in the about section and What's New is rewritten.
There's lots more to come but we wanted to get this out the door before St Patricks Day gets here.

Happy New Year every one, welcome to 2024 !
Time Theory World Headquarters is fairly quiet in January since most of the staff likes to get out of the New England cold and find a nice warm palm tree to code under... we tend to come up with better ideas when our feet are in warm sand and we have a nice tropical breeze.
One thing we've always wanted to add to Time Jump is a "What's New" screen so we can keep you informed and that's exactly what's new in this release.
It will only show once on the initial launch of a new version, but you can see it any time by going to Settings:About Time Jump:What's New.
Even if we're not in the office our support team will be working away.

With iOS 17, they've implemented new security requirements needed before an app can access your devices calendars.
This release of Time Jump now asks for your permission for full calendar access in the correct way.

Ah, Fall in New England... falling leaves, falling temperatures ( Brrr... ), hours of daylight falling shorter and shorter, but Time Theory World Headquarters is looking just a picturesque as you'd expect a New England place to be.
Speaking of falling things...
With this release support for iOS 15.x has fallen by the wayside. Our baseline is now 16.3 or higher.
Along with falling leaves we've raked up quite a bit of old code that's been hanging around.

Well, it's officially fall ( at least that's what the calendar says ), and Time Theory World Headquarters is a humming hive of activity.
Some of that hum is undoubtedly team members printing out the permission slips that the younger ones need to go on field trips.
Speaking of permission slips, here's what's changed in this release...
As of iOS 17 Apple has changed the requirements for how we ask users to allow access to their devices calendars.
(You did know that you can read and modify your calendars from within Time Jump, right ?
go to Settings/Calendar Options to set it up ).
We have updated our code to reflect the new way of asking. This effects iOS 17 and later only .
Also, so you're aware, as of our next release we will be dropping support for iOS 15.

Time Theory World Headquarters is generally a pretty quiet place in the Sumer time... we've said it before, summer here in New England is way too short, get out and enjoy it.
Even so, the work still gets done.
What's new ?
Juneteenth has been added to our list of federal holidays. ( we know you're using our built in lists for federal and state, right ? )
Several state specific holidays have been added / updated too.
We also made some internal code changes to any views that are table view to avoid an upcoming API deprecation.
A big thanks to our research department for reviewing and updating our holidays lists... you guys rock !

Here at Time Theory World Headquarters we believe in working from where ever you are the most productive ( let's face it, summers here in New England are far too short... get outside and enjoy it ! ) even if it means you spend more time working in the veggie garden than in Xcode; we know you'll get the work done that needs to get done.
With all that gardening comes harvest time and lots of canning and pickling ( pickled habaneros anyone ? ).
Before we get to that we thought we'd do some quick UI tweaks that, hopefully, bring more clarity about what's lurking in the background in Time Jump.
To make the location of the actual calculator for dates we added an ellipsis button to the date difference view ( that area with the arrows between the start and end dates at the top of the main page ).
We also did some other minor UI cleanup to make thing flow better.

Time Jump, the sharing edition !
As we come into the end of the year Time Theory World Headquarters is a sparkling bundle of lights and decorations.
We very much believe that sharing is caring ( even if we're still mostly virtual in the office )... sharing stories of the past year, sharing holiday libations ( did you say tequila ?, yes please ! ) and sharing our hopes for the new year.
With that in mind we've made it easier than ever to share Time Jump by adding some new options in our Settings menu ( the little gear at the bottom of the screen ).
Under the "Things about us..." section there are new options:
Write a Review - this will take you directly to our page on the App Store so you can share your thoughts with the world in a review.
Share with a friend - will bring up an iOS share sheet allowing you to share Time Jump with a friend in which ever manner you choose ( air drop, text, etc... ).
We've also spruced up our settings choices with some nice SFSymbols imagery.

People, in general ( and software engineers especially ), are really good at thinking that how something works is obvious.
Here at Time Theory World Headquarters we're luck enough to have a research department named "Well, it's not obvious to me" to keep us from falling into that trap.
Of course, their job would be a lot easier if our engineering department actually listened to them.
Well, the memo finally got through and we listened.

We've updated some of our buttons and non-button looking tappable areas to give you better visual feedback about what they do ( Using Apple's recommended SF Symbols ).

Time Theory World Headquarters is starting to feel like Superman's Fortress of Solitude... all clean and shiny, gleaming in the sun, and no one around.
All of us here miss seeing our co-workers... well, we see them but only via FaceTime ( ever notice how much smaller they've become like that ? ) but it is really all for everyones safety.
We know we're not alone in this and we hope you do too.
Now that we're getting into the middle of winter here in New England it's time to get back to writing some code, so here's what we've been up to...
With the arrival of iOS 14 Xcode insisted that we update our project build settings, which revealed places where we were using deprecated API calls; all better now.
Unfortunately, some of these changes mean that we can no longer support iOS 12.
Our current base level is iOS 13.
We've also done some tweaks to some icons and buttons.

Well, where has the summer gone ??
We've been so busy here at Time Theory World Headquarters that we haven't had time to put out an update...
( busy with things like hiking, biking, painting the barn, generally enjoying the all too short New England summer with a variety of adult beverages... you get the idea ).
We did spend time thinking about some new features we'd like to add to Time Jump but before we can do that we made some minor changes, such as:
Fixed a minor number formatting issue in the listed number of weeks and days for a date range.
Updated copyright strings and some minor changes to our disclaimer document ( you did read it, right ? )
Did some dusting and cleaning in parts of the code to remove extraneous noise.
Please Note: After this release we will no longer support versions of iOS before 11; devices older than a 5s will no longer be able to run Time Jump.
If this creates a problem for you please let us know.

SPRING, it's finally here !! ( at least on the New England Seacoast ).
Our fingers have finally thawed out enough to get out a new version of Time Jump with a customer requested feature.
TJ now shows the time between dates as both Years, Months, Weeks and Days but also as just Weeks and Days.
Both of these methods represent the TOTAL number of intervals between dates; No holidays are skipped.
Only the Business Days calculations take holidays into account.
Why have we added this ?
One of our customers in the legal community requested this... ask and ye shall receive ( you know, if it's possible ).
Our customer service department is second to none when it comes to a timely response so if you have any questions, comments or feature requests please contact us.

Happy New Year, Time Jumpers ( and soon to be new Time Jumpers ) !
A New Year... time to look back at what you did and make plans for the year ahead.
For many there are New Year's resolutions to be made, and hopefully kept, about new diets and exercise plans
so we can slim down for the year ahead.
Here at Time Theory Software Corporate HQ in New England we're no different... we've dusted off our vintage Nordic Track machines and pulled out our snow shoes and cross country skis ( even though it is wickedly bitter cold out ! ).
This is all well and good if you're a human, but as an app we don't think we can get much smaller or nimble so we've decided its time to
GET BIG !
Time Jump 3.0 is now a Universal app, taking full advantage of that big beautiful screen on your iPad !
We've also done some extra dusting and cleaning so Time Jump has an extra sparkle for the new year.

It's March... winter is almost over !
Here in New England days are getting noticeably longer, the snow is melting, plants are just starting to push buds.
The other thing that comes out at this time of year: BUGS !
Here at Time Theory Software we've spent the last couple of cold winter months bug hunting & we've squashed a couple.
( actually, some of the bug hunting was done under palm trees in the Lower Keys, but that's another story...)

Ah, February... time to dream about palm trees as you're shoveling snow, curse the name of that little rodent in Pennsylvania, and remember to get something nice for your loved one for Valentines Day.
Nothing could be more precious than the gift of time, so why not give them a copy of Time Jump !
Although we can't really give you more time we'll do our best to help you manage it better.
Try enabling the feature that lets you see events from your device calendars directly in Time Jump.
You'll be amazed at how good you'll feel never missing an anniversary or birthday again !
( assuming you allow those calendars to show in Time Jump )
To enable viewing your device calendars got to Settings: Info and Options: Show Events From [device type] Calendars.
Select which calendars you want to view in Time Jump and enjoy !
Any dates that have events from your device calendars will show with a green dot on the date... blue dots are for any events from Time Jumps list
of U.S. Federal and Optional holidays and any events that you've enabled from our list of U.S. State holidays.
Bug fixes...
Added new keys and messages to comply with iOS 10.x increased security.
Fixed an issue that prevented you from seeing the list of available calendars when you enabled access the first time to them till you killed and restarted the app.
BTW, did you know that Time Jump is fully localized for U.S English ?

And this is a very exciting time for Time Jump !
We now have much tighter integration with the calendars on your device ( provided you grant us permission to access them ).
You can now enter new events in your calendars directly from Time Jump !
Taping on the currently selected date above either calendar will bring up the Date Detail View.
On the lower left of the Date Detail View you will see the new "Add Event" button.
Tapping Add Event will bring up the standard Apple new event screen ( but since everyone needs more days off we'll first ask you if that what the new event is ).
Add events to your hearts content just like you would from your devices calendar app !
Want to delete an event ?
We've got you covered !
Green Dots on any date on the main screen indicate events that you have entered on your devices calendars that you allow us to see.
Select the date,
Show the details in the Date Detail View,
Select the event from the list and you can edit or delete it !
( this only works for events in calendars that you have write privilages for ).
But wait, there's more !
Want your days off to count in any Business Days calculations in Time Jump ?
Simple !
Only 2 rules apply:
1) The event must be marked as an All Day event.
2) The line "TTS-DayOff;" ( without the quotes, but with the semi colon on the end ) must be somewhere in the Notes field for the event.
Who knew that playing with dates could be so much fun !
