more Share your boat with other captains, close out every trip by species, and keep learning from the days you ran.
New Features
• Share My Position: send a timed link so other captains can see your boat, how fresh your position is, and the water under you. Stop sharing at any time. When it ends, your boat leaves their map. (Elite to share)
• When you end a recorded trip, a catch summary asks what you caught, what bit, and what you raised. Raised is its own count. Add a missed fish at the right point on your trail before you confirm.
Improvements
• Hold two fingers on the map for a quick measure
• Invite a crew with a link, and open it to see what you are planning together on one map. (Pro & up)
• Free captains can drop and see their own pins, up to 10. Import stays on a paid plan.
• Basic and Pro captains see one Free Trips card. The lock screen and your trip list show your day's record while you record.
• If your plan ended, we tell you what happened. You can still open your own trips, and a come-back offer sits in Map Tools.
• When chlorophyll is on the map, pick any satellite pass
• Recorded trails draw smoother, without moving your fixes
• Name a trip yourself from the trip screen
Bug Fixes
• Your paid plan stays with the account that bought it. The app no longer moves it during an automatic restore
• Stripe renewals and failed cards now update your access
• Saved overlays add their layers without clearing the ones already on the map. (Elite)
• Sign-in errors explain what went wrong in plain language
• The map brings your ocean data back when you return, and no longer dies when you zoom all the way out
• Trip and crew lists stay smooth when you scroll
• The lock-screen clock matches the trip you are recording

3.7.0 6 days ago
Trips reach the cloud the moment you hit Record, and a saved trip now shows you the water from the day you ran it.
New Features
• Open a saved trip and the map paints that day's ocean data behind your track. Switch datasets from the bar over the chart, and pick which satellite pass you're reading
• When you're offshore, Salty can offer a clear "record this trip?" prompt so you don't forget to start tracking
• Trip Tracker guide in Settings covering recording, Live Activities, and Siri, including logging a bite by voice
Improvements
• A trip is backed up from its first fix instead of at the end, and keeps checkpointing while you run, so a phone that dies or goes over the side doesn't take the day with it. Every trip also shows whether it's backed up, and fills in the water it ran through on its own
• While you're recording, Salty tells you when GPS drops instead of leaving the numbers frozen. The trail picks up when the signal returns
• Importing another captain's trip or a chartplotter GPX lands as your own copy, so their marks never mix into your library
• The plans screen says what each plan gives you beside what other apps do, with a word from a captain who fishes it
• Your subscription shows a free trial's days left and names the first charge date. If you're billed on the web, we no longer offer you an App Store restore, and we confirm your purchase landed before asking you to set your regions
Bug Fixes
• An upgrade button inside another screen opens the plans right away
• Your trip keeps its GPS track through any edit
• A trip whose track went missing on this device comes back from your cloud copy
• A trip you delete stays deleted
• Waypoints waiting to sync are no longer dropped just because the record isn't loaded yet
3.6.6 16 Aug
Faster access to gallery, playback, and layer controls right from the dataset card.
Improvements
• Timeline row now shows a live entry thumbnail — tap to open the gallery — plus a dedicated play button
• Contours and Layers chips on the quick-action bar for one-tap control (Contours: Pro & up)
• Color filter defaults to Squash; chlorophyll water-color presets still switch into Emphasize
• Welcome tour points at the new gallery and playback controls
• Tighter timeline and thumbnail layout so the card stays compact
Bug Fixes
• Playback button renders as a true square on all devices
3.6.5 29 Jul

Improvements
• Explore live ocean layers and timeline tools for 30 minutes before subscribing.
• Water Clarity now uses clearer, fishing-focused colors, with Water Color layers grouped together for faster browsing.
• Hide/Show filters now use the full color range across the values you select.
• Add Swordfish markers manually or through voice catch logging.
• Announcements now show when they were posted.

Sharper ocean data, cleaner maps, and more dependable trips and waypoints.
Improvements
• Chlorophyll filters now highlight a chosen water-color band without losing the surrounding map, with five quick presets.
• Gulf buoy stations load faster in a single request.

• Saved trips blend into the map more naturally.
• Timeline gallery and playback now live in one simpler actions menu.

• A selected trip now appears even when the Tracks overview is off, and closing it no longer leaves waypoints hidden.
• Water Clarity now shows a useful color gradient instead of appearing nearly flat. (Elite)
• Waypoints sync more reliably when a sign-in expires or the account changes.
• Fixed a crash when running Salty on a Mac.
3.6.3 22 Jul
This release is all about reliability. We fixed the things that got in your way, sped up the app, and smoothed out onboarding, before adding anything new.
Improvements
• Your boat's position now stays current on the map. Drifting or at anchor offshore, it used to go stale and catch up a few minutes later. It now updates continuously.
• Your trips open right away, even with a full season saved. We load a trip's track only when you tap into it.
• The map uses about half the memory when you're working with ocean data, so it stays smooth on long days and is far less likely to get shut down in the background.
• The welcome tour now picks up where you left off instead of starting over.
• Renamed "Overlay Sets" to "Saved Overlays," alongside Saved Maps.
Bug Fixes
• Fixed the map sometimes opening blank after the app sat in the background. It now redraws the water right away.
• Fixed a crash that could happen when saving a playback video.
• Fixed a rare crash when switching regions or datasets with a filter set.
3.6.2 19 Jul
This update brings smoother transitions and a couple of fixes.
Improvements

• Signing out now clears your waypoints and tracks from this device.
3.6.1 17 Jul

New Features
• Start a plan on the Salty website and it unlocks in the app on your iPhone automatically.
• New captains get a free look at the live map before deciding.
• Basic and Pro captains can record and keep their first few trips at no charge.
Improvements
• Your trip's Lock Screen widget stays put through a long day, even if your phone clears the app from memory.
• AIS vessel traffic groups into clean clusters when you zoom out. (Elite, or Pro can add it on)
• Text is easier to read in light mode.
Bug Fixes
• Fixed a crash that could happen when opening panels from the map.
• The trip widget now reliably appears when you start recording.
• Your subscription status stays correct after reinstalling or restoring purchases.
• The sign-up screen no longer briefly covers the map for new captains.
3.6.0 14 Jul
This update fixes a rare crash and tightens a few details.
Bug Fixes
• Fixed a rare crash that could close the app shortly after you opened it.
• Your subscription and add-ons now unlock reliably.
• The depth you pick stays put when the data refreshes.
Improvements
• Cleaner, more consistent charts across the app.
3.5.1 8 Jul
Watch your spots for the conditions you want, get a heads-up the moment fresh data lands, and look back on your whole season.
New
• Watch a spot. Pick a condition like water temperature, current, or a temperature break, and we'll notify you when a spot hits it. All your watches live in one list.
• New data alerts. Get a push the moment fresh ocean data lands over your region, then tap it to jump straight to that layer on the map.
• Season story. Your Logbook now tells the story of your season, your trips, your water, and your catches in one recap.
• Overlay Sets. Save the layers you reach for as a named set, and load them back with one tap.
Improvements
• Faster playback. Replaying a recorded trip and dragging the timeline stays smooth, even on your longest days on the water.
• Charts. A cleaner, consistent look across every readout, with clearer axis labels and a current-direction arrow.
• AIS. Vessels stay readable when they crowd together, and your AIS toggle stays put across launches.
• Share. The Share Map sheet is simpler and keeps the details that matter.
Bug Fixes
• Fixed a crash when tapping a notification from the lock screen.
• Trips no longer get stuck backing up after their ocean conditions finish loading.
• Map controls no longer get stranded after closing a panel or returning to the app.
• A waypoint you just dropped can't be lost before it syncs to the cloud.
3.5.0 4 Jul
This update fixes one bug ahead of tournaments this weekend. After a fresh install, the app didn't ask for location access, so your boat's position never showed on the map and distance tools didn't work. Location now works as soon as you install.
3.4.7 27 Jun
Lighter on your device, sharper trip-share posters, and reliable offline opens.
Improvements
• Trip Share — fresh art-first templates, swipeable, full-bleed photo, big species row.
• Backfill — stay in add-mode after each drop, so you can place several pins in one pass.
• Offline — your downloaded region opens instantly from cache, even when the launch network read fails.
• Layers — overlay categories regrouped by what captains actually reach for.
• Nav chart — symbol labels sit above land; buoy names appear only at the zoom they're readable.
• Waypoints — a focused track always shows its pins, and the pin layer rebuilds the moment waypoints change.
Bug Fixes
• Fixed a problem where panning the map could write large amounts of data to your device. Salty is now much lighter on storage.
• Trip share still renders when a photo fails to load, instead of failing silently.
• Render-stats overlay is off by default.
• Waypoint pin layers stay in sync on add and edit.

• Satellite mode opens to the full globe instead of a locked zoom
• Shared waypoint edits now save correctly
• Depth readout holds steady on spotty connections instead of flickering
• Corrected LORAN chain configuration for accurate TD lines
• Delete All now stays deleted across your devices — owned waypoints no longer reappear after relaunch
3.4.0 16 Jun
Smarter waypoint filtering, livelier currents, and a cleaner-looking
chart.
• Filter your waypoints by symbol, depth, water temperature,
distance, and recency — all from one chip sheet. Combine as
many as you want.
• Currents flow noticeably livelier — particle motion retuned so
flow is easier to read at any zoom.
• Map labels redesigned with a clearer hierarchy — primary places
read first, secondary towns sit back, distant labels stay quiet.
• Crew-shared and track-linked waypoints are now protected from
"Delete All" — only your personal marks are removed, never your
crew's or marks tied to a recorded track.
