MeloTune - Mood Music Player
Tune Your Mood: Focus, Unwind
Free · In-App Purchases · Designed for iPad
Tell MeloTune how you feel or where you want to be. It shapes the music around your mood, learns what you return to, and plays from there.
Music that reads the moment.
MeloTune is your Mood Music Stations app. Two dials — Emotion and Energy — place you on a map of 400 moods, and it finds music to match across 175+ genres. Apple Music, Spotify Premium, or your own files play the tracks.
Mood Music Stations — three rows on one screen
• PICKED FOR YOU — Ready For You leads, then AI picks. No AI? Six starter stations fill the row instead, redrawn each launch. REFRESH for more.
• WHAT YOU SAVED — "Capture this moment" keeps whatever's playing as a station of its own.
• STATIONS YOU'VE LIVED IN — Play three tracks from a station and it moves here.
It learns from what you play. No questionnaires.
Ready For You is worked out on your phone. A small model learns which moods you return to and which stations you actually finish.
Journeys. Say where you want to end up.
Pick a destination on the mood map and 20, 40 or 60 minutes. MeloTune charts the route and the dial travels it — colour shifting from where you started toward where you're going, a ring counting down on your Lock Screen. Choose the ending: hold the mood, or stop and fall silent. Once it learns your mornings and evenings, it offers those journeys at your own times.
Memory. See where your listening has actually been.
Your listening drawn as a grid — a week, a month or a season. The brighter a square, the more you return to that mood; its colour is the genre you play there most. Tap a square to hear that moment again. Kept 90 days, in your private iCloud.
Sunday Constellation.
Every Sunday, the week you actually had — drawn as a constellation, named after the mood you spent most time in. A quiet week gets no name.
Music Mates. Meet the listener, not the contact.
Up to three matches a day: MeloTune listeners whose taste and mood resonate with yours.
• Being findable is off until you switch it on. Then choose how far you travel — this Wi-Fi only, or everywhere.
• Match on your whole taste, or narrow it to one of your favourite genres.
• Send a SIGNAL — your card, not a message. If they accept, you are connected.
• Accept one and you each see the handles the other chose, at the same moment. Hear what a friend is into, played from your own music.
• You are a nickname you choose. No account, and nothing about you kept on a server.
• What travels is a summary of your taste — your mood, your genres, your mood map for the week. Never the tracks you played.
Four ways to see where you are
Dial · Meters · Tracks · Memory — the same session, four faces. The accent colour follows the mood of the track playing.
Tell MeloTune what you want
• Voice — "Relaxed evening vibes" · "播放经典中国摇滚" · "Música Latina nueva". It knows the genre words of 12 languages and regions, and the classics in each.
• Text — "Deep focus", same understanding.
• Dials — Emotion and Energy, 400 moods between them.
• A wave — prop the phone up, wave to change track. Off until you turn it on; the camera keeps and sends nothing.
A home-screen widget shows your mood at a glance.
On-device by default. Free with Apple Intelligence.
On supported hardware (iOS 26+) Apple Intelligence runs the AI on your phone — nothing to set up, nothing to pay. Or connect your own AI account (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Qwen, OpenRouter) and pay them directly. What you played never leaves your phone.
Free: curate as much as you like — dial, genres, stations and voice, all of it real — and every curation plays a full track. No account, no login.
MeloTune Premium keeps the music going: $3.99/month or $29.99/year, both with a 7-day free trial, both family-shareable, auto-renewing until cancelled. Playback needs Apple Music, Spotify Premium, or your own files (billed separately by Apple or Spotify).
iOS 18.6+. The AI-picked stations and the track notes need Apple Intelligence (iOS 26+) or your own AI account.

more Similar tracks now stay in the right era.
Ask for songs like the one you're playing and the results respect when that music is from. A 1970s soul seed no longer returns a 2020s remix that merely shares a mood, and a modern indie seed isn't answered with a big-band record. We know the era for 2,943 more artists than last release, and MeloTune keeps its silence where it genuinely doesn't know rather than guessing.
More artists, better placed. 1,089 new artists this cycle, and every artist in the catalogue is now reachable by the name Apple Music actually sends — punctuated names like "The J.B.'s" used to be skipped silently.
Also in this release:
• Faster launch, with less waiting before the first track
• Fixed: deleting a station left the now-playing card frozen on the wrong song
• Fixed: "similar tracks" from an unrecognised song could wander into the wrong genre entirely
• New: a switch to stop MeloTune using your own LLM API key. Apple Intelligence and on-device curation keep working either way.
3.3.0 2 days ago
WAVE TO SKIP
Prop your phone up and wave across the screen, like swiping the song aside — left for the next track, right to go back.
• A wave, not a pose. Hands resting on a keyboard won't set it off.
• Off until you switch it on: Settings → Music Service → PLAYBACK → Wave to skip.
STATIONS STAY TRUE TO THEIR GENRE
• Songs with several artists now land in the right stations, instead of being sorted by just one name.
• Mood and genre agree across stations, journeys and the dial.
• The genre under the player always matches what's playing.
QUICKER TO THE MUSIC
• Music starts sooner — no waiting on a permission dialog.
• Journeys remember each leg's genre when you come back.
Faster all round, plus a lot of smaller fixes.
Thanks for listening.

MeloTune 3.1 — What's New
IT STARTS WITH YOU
• Open the app and it plays. The Ready For You card picks music from what you have been listening to, and it starts from the first second. The card shows the cover art of the music it picked.
• Long-press a pick and choose Dismiss. The same card will not come straight back.
• No AI turned on? Picked for You still fills up, with six stations from across the mood map — a different six each time you open it, and REFRESH draws six more. Every one is a real station you can play.
• Not subscribed yet? "Decide later" lets the track that is playing finish. The ask comes back at the next track.
MUSIC MATES, REBUILT
• Three tabs, named for what each person is to you: FRIENDS, MATCHES, INBOX.
• Matches arrive sealed. Open one to see the resonance and their card.
• You reach out by sending your card, not a message — there is nothing to type. Accept one and you each see the handle the other chose, at the same moment. Neither side sees it first.
• Friends keep their card: their week drawn on the mood map, HEAR IT, and the handle they shared. Tap HEAR IT and you hear the moods your friend has been in, played with your own music. None of their music crosses over.
• If a friend's handle or taste has changed, they can send again. Accepting replaces the card you hold.
• Being findable is off until you turn it on. Then choose how far you reach: This Wi-Fi, or Everywhere.
• "Match me on" narrows matching to one of your own top genres.
JOURNEYS
• Pick where the journey ends on the mood map itself. Drag across 400 moods, the name follows your finger, lift your finger to choose.
• Choose how it finishes: HOLD THE MOOD, or STOP · SLEEP. With STOP · SLEEP the music ends on the last song of the route and stops. There is nothing to turn off.
• Sleep destinations always land on sleep music — ambient, piano, new age. You will not get the one quiet track from a loud genre.
• The journey shows on your Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island: the ring, the mood you are passing through, and the countdown.
• Once MeloTune knows your mornings and evenings, a Morning lift and a Wind down appear at your usual times — start one with a tap, or from a reminder on your Lock Screen.
• Journeys keep playing with the phone locked, and you can take a past journey AGAIN.
STATIONS LOOK BETTER
• Bigger cards with real cover art. Every station shows covers from the music it plays — one cover for an album or artist station, a grid of covers for the rest, and no cover repeated on a card.
• Playlist rows are sized to match.
• A track shows everything on one card. You no longer have to flip it over.
FOR APPLE MUSIC LISTENERS
• Your first song comes from the genre you play most. That is read on your phone and never uploaded.
• To keep a curation as a playlist, tap the Apple Music pill under the player, then Keep in Apple Music.
Thanks for listening.
3.1.0 22 Aug
MUSIC MATES
• Up to three matches a day: listeners whose music feels like yours. Send a
signal, and if they answer, your frequencies are matched.
• Listening rooms — share a code and sit in the same mood together. Everyone
plays through their own music service.
JOURNEYS
• Say where you want to end up — calmer, lifted, focused — and pick 20, 40
or 60 minutes. MeloTune curates the whole way there and shows the route
as you travel it.
MEMORY
• Your listening laid out by mood, across a week, a month or a season. Tap any
square to hear that moment again.
SUNDAY CONSTELLATION
• Every Sunday, the week you actually had — named after the mood you spent
the most time in.
HOME SCREEN WIDGET
• Your mood at a glance, and your mates' too.
A SIMPLER WAY IN
• Curate as much as you like — dial, genres, stations and voice, all of it
real, with no account and no login. Every curation plays a full track.
• MeloTune Premium keeps the music going: $3.99/month or $29.99/year, both
with a 7-day free trial.
Plus a faster launch and the usual fixes.
Thanks for listening.
3.0.0 18 Aug
• More artists across more genres — better matches for your mood.
• Bug fixes and stability improvements.
2.11.4 22 Jun
• Faster start — your first song plays sooner.
• More music — thousands more artists across more genres.
• Better picks — closer to your mood, with more variety.
• Smoother and more reliable all around.
2.11.3 16 Jun
This update is a major upgrade to recommendations, plus a smoother and more reliable listening experience.
• A much bigger music brain. We dramatically expanded the artists MeloTune knows — thousands more across blues, jazz, soul, funk, country & Americana, drum & bass, house & EDM, metal, film scores, Japanese city-pop, J-pop, K-pop and Cantopop, and more. Your stations now draw from a far richer, more accurate catalog.
• Smarter mood & energy matching. Stations follow your chosen mood and energy more precisely, and with better variety — so you stop hearing the same handful of songs every session.
• Retuned preset stations. Every preset — Deep Sleep, Bedtime, Healing Spa, Wind Down, Power Hour and the rest — has been recalibrated so its feel truly fits the moment.
• Better genre accuracy. We fixed cross-genre mix-ups (like heavier tracks slipping into calm/sleep stations) and cases where a station occasionally came back with no music.
• More stable. Fixed a crash when opening certain preset stations, along with a range of performance and reliability improvements.
Thanks for listening.
2.11.2 4 Jun
Faster. Smarter. Speaks your language.
• Say it in your language — "play classic Chinese rock", "최신 K-Pop", "Música Latina nueva", "Nouveautés Pop Française", and more. 11 languages, classic canon for each.
• Live transcription on the mic — see what MeloTune hears as you speak. Pauses smartly when you stop.
• Mic works without a key — voice control now falls back to on-device keyword matching when no AI is configured. Set up Apple Intelligence or your own key for the full natural-language understanding.
• Voice reads the moment — time of day, current song, and active genre tunes how requests get interpreted.
• Stations start faster — especially the second tap.
• Smarter picks across more genres — samba, gospel, traditional folk, K-pop, afrobeats, neoclassical, and many more now feed the recommendations properly.
• Delete Station works on the first try.
• Small polish — book icon for Track Wiki on the card's flip side. REFRESH shows a spinner while fresh picks load. Ready For You shows a pause overlay while playing.
2.11.1 28 May
Mood Music Stations is the headline.
Three labeled rows replace the MY STATIONS / RECOMMENDED tab toggle — all visible at once:
• WHAT MELOTUNE PICKED FOR YOU — Ready For You leads, then fresh decoder picks (genre + E·N). REFRESH chip pulls a new batch when you want one.
• WHAT YOU SAVED — your captures, with "Capture this moment" at the head. Cycle PLAYED / CREATED order from the chip.
• STATIONS YOU'VE LIVED IN — new. Play three tracks from a recommended station and it's auto-promoted here, ready to return to. Survives reinstall via iCloud.
Your Playlists redesigned — every playlist on one horizontal row, no separate screen. Sort RECENT or TOP from the chip. Flip any card for per-service playback. Pause overlay on the playing card now matches the station-card style.
Preset Stations simplified — tap a preset to play directly. No Customize sheet, no Collect step.
Sixteen new genres in the ontology (Renaissance, Early Music, Late Romantic, Impressionist, Lounge, Nu Jazz, Minimalism, Opera, Film Score, Britpop, Gothic Rock, Adult Contemporary, Jazz Hop, Classical Period, Blues Rock, Post-Punk Revival) so the decoder applies era-tight guardrails for those styles. Calm Classical sessions now pull from New Age / Sleep / Meditation playlists when your mood asks for it.
2.11.0 26 May
Bug fixes.
• Stations for Enka, Anime, and other world genres now find the right playlists. Some of these stations were returning a "No Music Found" alert and now load as expected.
• Mood Map cell drawer no longer shows the same genre twice (e.g. "rock" and "Rock" as separate rows). Genre labels display consistently in lowercase.
• Recommended Stations now pick a genre that actually fits the moment they describe — the card's mood and the music it plays line up more closely.
Smaller download, less log noise, same Mood Map, same Mesh, same on-device privacy.
2.10.1 16 May
Mood Map
A new tab in the player that shows where your listening has actually clustered — the moods you keep returning to, and the ones you only visit on certain days.
• Heatmap of your last 7 days of plays on the mood grid (30 days with Pro)
• Brighter cells = the moods you return to most; hue = dominant genre
• Tap a cell to see the tracks that landed there
• Tap the card to flip → patterns you might not notice, written for your week
Listen
Tap LISTEN on any pattern or cell and a fresh session starts right at that mood anchor — same path as picking a mood by hand, just pre-set for you. If you want to keep it, save it as a Station with the existing "+ Capture this moment" placeholder.
Felt-Check
A quiet feedback loop in Insights asks "did this feel right?" after each pattern you listen to.
• "thumbs-up" keeps it and tells future picks to lean this way
• Drop excludes that anchor from future patterns
• Dismiss just clears the card
Verdicts sync across your devices via your private iCloud, so the map learns the same way everywhere you listen.
Under the Hood
• Mesh moves into Insights — the player tab strip is now DIAL / METERS / TRACKS / MOOD MAP
• Recommended Stations no longer show stale time-of-day names (no more "Night Coffee" at 10am)
• Track Wiki re-anchors to the currently playing track every time you open it
• Sleep-timer and focus-session rings retired from the home widget
2.10.0 15 May
Bug fix: your saved stations now restore from iCloud after reinstalling the app. (Stations lost in reinstalls on earlier versions can't be recovered — going forward, you're covered.)
2.9.1 10 May
Recommended Stations
A new tab of stations picked for the moment you're in — your mood, the time of day, and your activity. Mesh peers nearby shape the picks too.
• Reads your "Ready For You" prediction so picks lean toward what you actually want next
• Resonates with peer moods when other MeloTune devices are around
• Adapts to walking, running, cycling, driving, or sitting still
Track Wiki and Genre Lock
Tap WIKI in the player to read about the artist, era, and what makes the track tick — your music keeps playing underneath. Tap the lock at the top of the genre panel to keep curation inside the current genre while you tune mood freely.
• Wiki and Similar live in the player's four-button row, alongside Heart and Mood Lock
• Genre Lock applies to recommendations, voice commands, and background curation
• Picking a different genre auto-releases the lock — explicit choices always win
Bring Your Own AI
Apple Intelligence runs every AI feature on-device by default — free, private, no key. Or bring your own key from OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Qwen, or OpenRouter for a cloud override.
• Voice, text, recommended stations, and Track Wiki use your chosen provider
• Keys stay on your device — MeloTune never sees them
2.9.0 7 May
Social Mood Music
Your mood now moves their music. MeloTune 2.8.0 introduces Social Mood Mesh — connect with nearby friends over Wi-Fi and let your music respond to each other's mood in real time.
New in 2.8.0:
• Social Mood Mesh: peer-to-peer mood coupling with nearby listeners. Automatic discovery, no accounts, no servers
• Mood Rooms: create private listening rooms and invite friends via link. Each room develops its own shared mood
• Reactions & Resonance: send love, vibe, and miss reactions to peers. Watch resonance build over time as your moods align
• Selective Coupling: choose which peers influence your music — uncouple anytime
• Display Names: personalize your mesh identity in Settings
• Influence control: choose Off, Gentle, or Responsive in Settings → Mesh
• Focus mode automatically blocks peer influence so your focus session stays locked
Music That Learns You
• Personal Arousal Function (PAF) learns your emotional preferences from listening behavior
• Skips, completions, volume changes, and favorites all teach the AI what you actually want
• Adapts per genre and time of day — morning rock feels different from evening rock
• Gets smarter every session with no manual input
Under the Hood
• Faster peer reconnection when devices drop and rejoin
• Improved mesh stability across iOS backgrounding and wifi changes
• Better proactive curation — "Ready For You" uses your stored genre preference
• Apple SubscriptionStoreView for a clearer subscription experience
• Performance improvements across the curation pipeline
All connections are encrypted and peer-to-peer. Your listening data never leaves your device.

• Smarter playlist resume: custom and favorites playlists replay your actual tracks
• First-time listeners guided straight to genre selection
• Stability and performance improvements
2.7.4 14 Mar
Smarter Ready For You
Your proactive playlist just got more emotionally intelligent.
Ready For You now uses the exact mood it curated for you — not a cached mood from a previous session. If MeloTune predicted you need uplifting energy right now, that's precisely what plays. No more leftover Lo-Fi from last night's study session bleeding into your morning commute.
• Mood accuracy: playlists always match the emotion they were curated for
• No stale moods: every "Play Now" delivers exactly what was promised
• Seamless handoff: station history and play counts still tracked
This is what emotional intelligence sounds like — the right music, for the right moment, every time.
2.7.3 12 Mar
Fixed an issue where the "Create My Portrait" button appeared unresponsive when there wasn't enough listening data. The app now displays a helpful message guiding you to listen to more music before generating your mood portrait.
