Mailtemi - Mail & Contacts
First Native JMAP email app.
Free
Mailtemi is the fastest app if you use IMAP, JMAP or GMail.
- UNIFIED INBOX - Combines all email accounts into one organized list. This means all IMAP folders, GMail/JMAP labels are really merged.
- SMART INBOX - Organize email messages into categories (Primary/Forums/Updates/Promotions).
- Contacts - Support multiple contact sync APIs (CardDAV/Google People/MS Graph).
- OFFICE 356/OUTLOOK - works with Microsoft Exchange, Office 365, Outlook.com (including Hotmail and MSN). Native support via MSGraph protocol. Minimize data usage and speed up synchronization.
- JMAP/FASTMAIL - Native support of the first modern open source email protocol. Fast synchronization even within a slow network.
- EXCEPTIONAL SPEED - Even before the app is displayed, many threads simultaneously synchronize ALL the folders from your mail server. Everything done with the fastest technology possible in iOS (C++, Swift).
- FAMILIAR UI - Uses the familiar Mail user interface, enhanced with Avatars, Color Coding, and better Unified Inbox.
- DARK MODE - in addition to making full use of the capabilities of iOS, we show the mail itself dark. It is a matter of choice whether it is dark HTML or Markdown.
- COLOR CODING - subtle accent which account the mail arrived, to synchronize the colors with the GMail labels.
- EASY SETUP - Creating a new account is easy. All you have to do is provide your username and password for your email provider and your email address. If the mail service is configured correctly, we will find the settings automatically.
- CONVERSATIONS - smartly aggregates all of your emails, and threads them into one conversation for your convenience. You can perform bulk operations on the entire conversation as well.
- PRIVACY - Mailtemi uses advanced security protocols and practices to ensure data integrity, security, and privacy. All settings/password remain stored on your iPhone.

more Account setup fix
Fixed a bug that could make it impossible to add an account with manual server settings — the "Next" button stayed greyed out, with nothing to say what was missing.
Manual setup now switches on mail only. Contacts (CardDAV) and Calendar (CalDAV) can be switched on in the same screen.

Push notifications for JMAP accounts
Mailtemi 3.3.2 adds push support for JMAP mail servers. Your server tells your device the moment something changes, so new mail shows up straight away instead of waiting for the next scheduled fetch — and the app stops waking up on a timer just to find nothing new, which is easier on your battery.
WHAT'S NEW
• JMAP push. New mail is announced as it arrives, not on a schedule.
• Per-account choice. Each account picks its own delivery: Settings > Fetch New Data > your account > Push. Accounts on servers without push keep using scheduled fetch, and both can run side by side.
• Status you can see. The Fetch New Data screen shows where registration stands for every account, and offers Retry when a server needs another attempt instead of leaving you guessing.
• Notifications that go somewhere. Tapping a notification opens the message it announced, and senders are shown with the same avatar style as the rest of the app.
• Quieter inbox. Mail that only lands in Junk or Trash no longer interrupts you.
PRIVACY
Push is a wake-up signal, nothing more. The relay that carries it never receives your message: it passes along a notice that something changed, then your device fetches the mail directly from your own server and composes the notification locally. As always, Mailtemi collects no analytics and makes no network calls beyond the servers you choose.
Requires a JMAP account on a server that supports push, and notification permission on this device.
3.3.2 23 Aug
Microsoft / Outlook accounts — more reliable
- Outlook accounts now recover automatically when the server is busy or rate-limits us, instead of showing errors — syncing retries and picks up where it left off.
- Fixed folders that could stop updating after a while — they now re-sync on their own.
- Fixed messages going missing or failing to update after being moved or archived.
- Fixed crashes when closing or switching accounts.
- More accurate search and flag (read/unread, flagged) updates.
Adding an account is smoother
- Improved auto-discovery of server settings, including servers with stricter or non-standard security setups.
- Clearer, more specific messages when a connection or security problem prevents setup.
- Smarter sign-in defaults: the right sign-in method is preselected and secure sign-in starts automatically where appropriate; your email address is used to pre-fill the username.
Sending & syncing fixes
- Fixed a sent message leaving an extra draft copy on the server.
- Read/unread status now stays correct after syncing.
- Fixed attachment upload failures with some server configurations.
Interface
- Cleaner mailbox layout: compose button moved to the top-right, simplified bottom bar, and small fixes in Edit Account.
3.3.1 23 Jul
Fix: DNS-based auto-discovery (SRV/MX) failed on networks whose local resolver returned short or non-standard UDP replies (captive-portal Wi‑Fi, some carrier networks, certain home routers). The DNS reader now handles those responses correctly.
On certain MX responses the app could terminate due to an unhandled out-of-bounds read in the DNS response parser. This has been fixed.
3.3.0 20 May
- Fixed stale conversation ordering when returning to foreground
- HUD now hides correctly on account refresh
3.2.9 1 May
Preserve conversation unread status when syncing from Sent folder.
Other minor fixes.
3.2.8 7 Mar
- Pinch-to-zoom: pinch or double-tap to zoom into small text, receipts, and dense tables. Horizontal panning works while zoomed.
- Enhanced dark mode: emails with their own dark CSS are detected and left untouched. Only emails that lack dark support get targeted color adjustments. No more double-darkening or fighting with the sender's styling.
- Markdown view: toggle between the original HTML and a distraction-free markdown view. Strips away newsletter layouts, leaving just text, headings, and links.
- Faster content display: email content appears instantly without blank flashes when switching between messages.

Automatic Email Configuration with Autodiscovery
- Setting up your email accounts just got significantly easier with our new Autodiscovery feature.
- Mailtemi now automatically detects the correct server settings based on your email address, saving you from manually entering server details.
- Supported methods include:
- JMAP Service Discovery: For accounts using the JMAP protocol, Mailtemi automatically retrieves configuration details to streamline the setup.
- IMAP SRV Lookups: Using DNS SRV records, Mailtemi identifies your email provider’s IMAP and SMTP servers for seamless configuration.
- Microsoft AutoDiscover for MSGraph: For Microsoft-based accounts, including Office 365, Mailtemi leverages AutoDiscover to securely fetch the necessary settings.
- Well-Known URL Lookup: For providers using standard configuration URLs, Mailtemi ensures your account is set up with minimal effort.
Improved Security and Reliability
Autodiscovery ensures secure connections by detecting and enforcing the correct encryption protocols during account setup.
Other Improvements
- General bug fixes and minor optimizations to enhance app stability and performance.
Why Autodiscovery Matters
This feature eliminates guesswork and configuration errors, providing a smoother onboarding experience while maintaining robust security.
Update to the latest version and enjoy faster, smarter email setup with Mailtemi.

#### New Features and Enhancements:
- JMAP Protocol Improvements:
- Enhanced Account Setup via JMAP: Setting up accounts through JMAP has been improved, offering smoother configuration.
- Support for Partial URLs on Self-Hosted Servers: The app now supports self-hosted servers that provide only partial URLs. In these cases, the URL is automatically prepended with the JMAP `./well-known` DNS SRV record for accurate configuration.
- Custom 'From' Field Editing: Users can now edit the 'From' field using a literal address format like `*@my-domain.com` for JMAP catch-all send identities, allowing for more flexible email management.
- Improved Draft Email Handling: Draft emails now utilize blob IDs instead of fetching the entire email content, optimizing performance and data usage.
- On-Demand Folder Creation for Standalone Servers: For standalone servers like Stalwart and Cyrus IMAP, which do not come with predefined folders, the app now automatically creates necessary folders like "Draft" and "Sent" when sending emails.
- Fallback Email Address for Invalid Send Identities: If a Send Identity lacks a valid email address, the app will automatically use the email address from the setup account, ensuring seamless email delivery.
#### Other Improvements and Bug Fixes:
- Avatar Refresh Handling: When refreshing avatars, if a temporary error (such as a timeout) occurs, the app now retains the current avatar icons instead of stripping them.
- Enhanced UI Error Reporting: Improved the accuracy and clarity of error messages throughout the app, making it easier for users to identify and resolve issues.
