A new app icon. The j now sits on deep green next to an equals sign, so Jotsum is far easier to pick out on a crowded Home Screen — the old cream tile tended to disappear against light wallpapers.

Fixes an issue on iPhone and iPad where a page's text could be invisible. If pages looked empty, this update brings them back — nothing was lost. Fixes, including several that could give a wrong answer. • Subtracting or dividing with a currency respects the order you wrote: "100 - 30 usd" is $70. • Commas inside functions read correctly — max(1,2) is 2, not 12. • Hours and days keep their units when scaled: "2 h × 3" is 6 h. • A stock quote that hasn't loaded no longer reads as a same-named currency. • Three crashes fixed: very large numbers, and undo after auto-formatting or inserting a line reference. • Line references stay pointed at the line you picked when you add or remove lines above them. • Numbers written on a device that uses "1.234,56" are no longer rewritten when opened elsewhere. • Your notes now sync during the free trial, as promised. • Typing is much faster in long documents. iPhone & iPad: text size and appearance settings, folder rename and delete, Empty Trash, exchange-rate freshness, and keyboard shortcuts on iPad.

Jotsum now understands Spanish — type "suma", "20% de descuento en 500", "clima en cdmx", or "hoy a navidad". It also understands spoken math in both languages: "12 plus 4", "100 divided by 4", "6 por 7". The app itself now speaks Spanish, German, French, Italian, Portuguese, Chinese, Japanese, Swedish and Russian. Also in 1.5: 1.5M / 2 billion magnitudes, totals that skip dates instead of silently breaking, comma-decimal input for European keyboards, a Mac answers column that fits its contents, tap-to-copy answers on iPhone, and a 30-day free Pro trial with a new $9.99/year plan.

Now on iPad, with the library alongside your work. Weather looks ahead. Ask about any day, not just right now — "weather in cancun tomorrow", "sunset in madrid on friday". New questions too: humidity, wind, the day's high and low, and sunrise/sunset, always in the place's own time zone. Money reaches further: over 160 currencies now, including the Colombian peso, Argentine peso, Chilean peso, dirham and rouble. Also new: implicit multiplication, so 50(6) is 300. Fixed: new pages open ready to type, rows show the folder they live in, and long answers no longer get cut off.

• Plain-language money math — type "$300k loan at 6% for 30 years" and get the monthly payment. Also "tip 15% on $80", "20% markup on 50", and more. • Subtotals — write "subtotal" under a block of lines to sum it; "total" adds up the whole sheet without double-counting. • Autocomplete — Jotsum suggests your own variable names and functions as you type, so a typo never silently becomes a note. • Mix currencies freely — "MX$100 + $5 usd" just works, converted at live rates.
