Grocy Mobile
Mobile App for Grocy
Free
This app is a companion for the Grocy application (https://grocy.info/). Grocy provides a self-hosted solution to pantry management and shopping lists.
The app allows you to access the server with a mobile-optimized interface on your iOS/iPadOS device and also login via Home Assistant Ingress.
You need to host Grocy yourself, otherwise a reliable data storage is not possible (demo servers may get wiped sometimes).
There are no rented servers available in-app, you have to setup the server yourself.
This allows for a free distribution of this app, since the app has no infrastructure on its own.
Features:
- native design, fully optimized for Liquid Glass
- localization in many languages
- full stock management, shopping lists, chores and master data management
- a convenient Quick Scan mode, allowing for fast interactions
- 100% free and open source
more Hello again, this is just a small update for Grocy Mobile which fixes some bugs reported by users. If you find more, feel free to create an issue on Github.
Changes:
- Stock Entries: Use quick consume amount for consuming/opening
- Stock journal: Show correct quantity unit
- Stock: Show correct opened amount for aggregated products
- Stock: Show child products when searching
- Stock: Prevent double meta-products
- Consume product: Allow consuming child products
- Small logo/icon changes
3.3.1 10 Apr
This is one of the biggest updates for Grocy functionality-wise ever! I call it the recipe update. As you may have guessed, this update brings support for recipes to Grocy Mobile.
With this you can view existing recipes as well as create new ones. It is possible to add ingredients to a recipe, add subrecipes and edit the preparation by using an integrated WYSIWYG HTML editor.
This is the first version of the recipe feature, so some improvements will be made to it.
There are also some small features, like that the sorting should be saved in most views.
A small sneek peek on the next feature: I am trying to add a parser using Apple Intelligence to get recipes automatically from a website.
Changes:
- New recipe feature
- Sorting is saved in some views
- Small bug fixes (and another try at the CoreData bug)
3.3.0 1 Apr
This is another small maintenance update for Grocy Mobile.
Besides some small fixes, it contains one really nice feature: scanning of due dates. Leveraging the Vision framework, it is possible to detect text wich represent dates. This text is then entered as due date, making tedious scrolling in the calendar a thing of the past.
The recipe functionality is not quite ready yet, but big steps have been made.
Changes:
- Date scanner to easily scan due dates
- fix date problems with stock entries
- try to improve reliability with initialization of SwiftData containers
3.2.2 20 Feb
This is a small bugfix update for Grocy Mobile.
It contains no new features, but should fix multiple small issues and crashes.
Changes:
- Small graphic fixes and changes (Sidebar, Text field, Server Selection)
- Fix crashes for specific system time formats
- Show non-provided dates for stock as never overdue
- Show stock elements with no own stock but accumulated stock
- Allow unsafe connections for ts.net (Tailscale) domains, since these are local
3.2.1 23 Jan
Happy new year! This is the first update for Grocy Mobile in 2026. It brings support for tasks, so that you can track your new year's resolutions. It also brings multiple small improvements and bug fixes, which should make the app more stable and usable.
For users on iPhone who just use a specific featureset of the app, it is now possible to hide tabs. Just head to the App settings.
As an experiment, a first Apple Intelligence feature is added. It uses the Foundation Model integrated on modern devices, to guess product category, location and quantity unit using the product name. When your device supports this, just press the button in the product form. It can be disabled of course.
The recipe support is WIP, but not ready yet.
Changes:
- Tasks
- Hide Tabs on iPhone
- Made WebSocket for Home Assistant more stable
- Try to fix SwiftData problems
- Multiple Design fixes
3.2.0 19 Jan
Were you naughty or nice this year? Did you do your chores properly?
Answering this will be no problem with the new feature for Grocy Mobile: Chores!
This aims to support most features of chores supported by the server, but in the mobile-friendly design you all know and love from the rest of the App.
Add Chores in Master Data, track them in overview with a swipe and look at the log for a history. If you scan a Grocy Code for Chores in Quick Scan, it should also work.
Since this is the first element in the TabBar brings the number over 5 tabs on iPhone, so Master Data will be hidden behind more. If you don't use a feature, you can disable it server-wide. It should also disappear in the app now. (Please don't do so, all features are great.)
There are some small changes concerning the stock journal, it is now also filtered by date and can be sorted.
Have fun with the app, season's greetings and a happy new year.
Changes:
- Chores
- Stock journal sorting
3.1.0 19/12/2025
This is the first update for Grocy Mobile 3.0, the new version with Liquid Glass design and a multitude of changes.
The new data structure allows for a quite simple implementation of the first widget for the app. It shows the current volatile stock count (due soon, overdue, expired, below min stock). It is available in 3 sizes, and on medium and large the filter gets applied to stock view when you click on it.
Another feature was in a semi-ready state for more than 3 years: Reminders integration. This is only the first stage of the implementation, it allows to export a shopping list to the Reminders app. Just tap on the shopping list menu, select export to Reminders and confirm. Import is not fully implemented yet and will take some time.
Additionally, some bugs should be fixed, namely the error with external Barcode lookup and hopefully some part of the factored amount.
Changes:
- Widget for volatile stock
- Reminders export
- Bug fixes
3.0.1 09/12/2025
It took way longer than expected, but here it is: Grocy 3.0
Grocy 3.0 is build on the foundations of the previous versions, but is completely new in design, navigation and technology. It embraces the new Liquid Glass design, bringing a haptic feel to the app. Every view and logic was updated and touched on many parts, to make for a better experience.
One of the biggest changes is the integration of Core Data in the app. This acts as an offline storage for the data, so you can look it up even with no connection (for interaction it is still needed of course). This also allows to build new features in the future.
The user logins are now saved in a database as well, allowing for storing multiple accounts (your old login should be converted, so no re-login is needed).
Leveraging the Localizable feature, translations got way easier. So now way more languages are supported. They are not all 100% yet, but a big step forward.
Last but not least, many bugs and inconsistencies were fixed.
Main changes:
- Liquid Glass design
- Core Data backend
- Store multiple user-accounts
- more localizations
- bug fixes
3.0.0 06/12/2025
Hello and sorry for the long hiatus of the app. Grocy Mobile is still in development, but work on Grocy Mobile 3.x is a bit slower than anticipated. But it is on a good way there. This is the old 2.x version of Grocy Mobile, still supporting iOS 15/macOS 12. It was built using the newest Xcode, so newer platforms should run good as well. The current version ran flawlessly, so no new update was required.
Changes:
- Support for Grocy Server 4.1.0
- Allowed local networking (should help with missing HTTPS in local networks)
- small improvements in quantity unit selection
Now for a small sneak peak on Grocy Mobile 3.x:
- developed from the ground up for iOS 17/macOS 14 (and this is required for it)
- new navigation for iPhone (like on iPadOS/macOS), this allows for more features in the future
- Database "cache" with SwiftData, so that data is available locally
- much more!

2.9.2 09/06/2023
Hi, this is a small update for Grocy Mobile! Some small problems were tackled and new features added.
Changes:
- done shopping list entries can now be removed with an action
- product field is now sorted again
- failed data requests can be retried
2.9.1 27/05/2023
Hello and welcome to maybe the biggest behind-the-scenes update to Grocy Mobile since the first release of the app. All network requests are now handled via the modern Async/Await pattern instead of Combine. For this, big parts of the app were changed and therefore errors are possible. I am looking towards your bug reports.
By using this pattern, the change from WebRequest to WebSocket for Home Assistant was possible without big problems, it works now. And new functionality should be much easier now!
Changes:
- change networking from Combine to Async/Await
- small changes in handling should be noticeable
- Home Assistant works again
2.9.0 24/04/2023
Hello and welcome to a new update for Grocy Mobile.
A place for everything and everything in its place. This is why the stock and shopping list is now groupable and sortable. This allows for a better overview and should make your spring cleaning easier.
- grouping and sorting the elements in stock
- grouping and sorting the elements on the shopping list
- small bug fixes
- small text fixes
Hint: The Home Assistant integration is still broken. I was unable to find a working solution for it.
2.8.0 01/04/2023

Hello and welcome to the new version of Grocy Mobile. This update brings a big new feature: automatic updates. You can select an update interval and the app fetches new data automatically. This should dramatically improve the usage experience when working with multiple users at the same time.
Additionally, Grocy Server 3.3.2 is now supported and a product can be "bought" as self-produced.
Changes:

2.6.0 27/11/2022
Vítá vás! Grocy Mobile is now available in Czech. Many thanks to zemanl79 and all translators who make this possible, the app now supports 6 languages and you can help to add more.
The app is now build to support iOS/iPadOS 16.1 and the new hardware, but still only requires iOS 15. Also the problem with pickers on iOS 16.1 was fixed, the relevant ones now behave like they did on iOS 15.
Changes:
- Czech translation
- some pickers now use the old layout
- build with XCode 14.1 and should thus support the new platforms and devices
2.5.3 29/10/2022
[This .2 version brings a hot fix for unusable product selector views.]
Hi! After the summer break, a new update for Grocy Mobile is available.
This includes support for the new iOS, but it is not required for now. Nevertheless, it is planned that Grocy Mobile 2.5.x is the last major version supporting iOS 15, before Grocy Mobile 3.x will require iOS 16.
But enough of planning, this version contains some interesting changes. Now the Quick Scan Mode uses the "normal" forms, used in other parts of the app, so they contain more features. Some new product fields were added to improve workflows, e.g. whether a product should not be frozen or an automatic transfer on opening (allows to place opened products automatically in the fridge). Also some bugs were fixed.
Changes:
- Support for iOS 16 (display of some elements was adapted)
- Quick Scan forms now use normal forms with more features
- "Default consume location", "Move on open" and "Should not be frozen" can be set for products
- Bug fixes and under-the-hood changes
2.5.2 02/10/2022
