An app created by farmers, for farmers; for use with 919 Moisture Meter.
This app calculates grain moisture using the dial reading determined by the 919/3.5" or 393/3.5" moisture meter, and the grain temperature. Over 50 choices of grains built into one app using linear regression formulas based on up to date tables provided by the Canadian Grain Commission (CGC). Don't risk using the possibly out of date paper tables that came with the meter. An app made by farmers, for farmers at a reasonable price.
more Updated table for Lentils, other than red.
2.30 1 Jul
Updates to the following grains are included: Wheat, Soft White Spring; and to Pea, Yellow & Green. Sincere appreciation to The Canadian Grain Commission for updates.
2.20 07/07/2025
We are grateful for the testing, updating and sharing of the new tables by the Canadian Grain Commission: Eastern Soft Red Winter Wheat & Eastern Red Spring Wheat. New calculations are used to determine dry ranges for them. We have also updated one of the links since it changed.
2.10 02/07/2024
One very tiny improvement in this version: to ensure that all of the sample size information was available on the Favourites screen. When previous version was used, it was noted that it cut off some useful information from viewing
2.9.2 05/07/2023
After uploading the new and easier to read screens, as well as the updates from CGC, we realized that the keyboard did not dismiss after entering data on the Favourites screen. This version fixes that, and provides additional information on the Contact screen.
2.9.1 05/07/2023
This version updates charts for two grains with changes provided by The Canadian Grain Commission: Eastern Hard Red Winter & Northern Hard Red Winter. It also cleans up the user screens to make them easier to read: thanks to our supporters for feedback!
2.9 02/07/2023
Thanks to an observant customer who kindly contacted us directly about a concern - we have fixed an issue where the temperature and meter entries were "flipped", which resulted in inaccurate calculations. We are grateful for great people like this who contact us directly if there are any concerns or issues, so that we can do our best to make this app as user friendly and useful as possible. In addition to this, the screen for selecting favourites has also been tidied up.
2.8 19/07/2022
Updates for 2022 include changes to the Rye and Barley (>52 kg/hl) made by Grains Canada (CGC). The user interface (your screen experience) was also adjusted to allow for different devices to better fit/adjust the content viewing and use.
2.7 17/07/2022
This version allows for estimates to be made outside of the CGC chart values, as requested by farmers
2.6 28/08/2021
Updates to: Soft White Spring Wheat, Western Soft White Spring Wheat, Western Red Spring Wheat (aka: Hard Red Spring Wheat, >=66 kg/hL), and Canadian Prairie Spring Wheat - Red and White. There is also an update for Canary Seed and it is now an official grain (under CGC). One correction was made to the meter calibration to use for lightweight oats.
2.5 01/07/2021
This version updates the following charts from CGC: Chickpeas; Amber Durum & Prairie Spring Wheats. Please note: as per CGC instruction, these particular charts do not allow extrapolation beyond chart values.
Also included in this update is an independently derived equation to allow for calculating millet moisture (new addition to this app). Please consult with buyer regarding their moisture requirements.
Finally - also did some minor house keeping here and there.
2.4 02/07/2020
This version has updates to two grains: Pea Beans & Eastern White Winter Wheat. The resource links were also updated, due to website change by CGC - this affected 5 links for the online resources.
2.3 04/07/2019
Two main updates: 1) Privacy Policy information - find it on the Resource tab. It can also be found here: https://elderenterprises.wordpress.com/2018/12/22/grain-moisture-app-privacy-statement/ 2) An alert will pop up for the user whenever values are entered that are outside the CGC table for the particular grain. This alert is to let the user know that one or more value is outside the range and therefore interpret with caution, as the calculation may be outside the linearity of the equation used
2.2 16/01/2019
New or updated charts for: Lentils, Black Beans, and Eastern Soft Red Winter Wheat.
2.1 01/07/2018
By popular request: tab bar to choose among the nearly 60 crop/grain choices and have a favourite screen of those user choices. There is also handy selection of "resources" which is some online useful sites such as repair and servicing locations for the meter; and various important information from the Canadian Grain Commission. For those wanting to contact us, there is also a screen with that information.
2.0 20/06/2018
Found a bug....and squashed it! Also did some general clean up to the work area.
1.4 06/09/2017
As requested by users, this version adds in the feature of recalling the last used grain before the app was closed. When the user opens the app, it will automatically go to that grain. The CGC (Canadian Grain Commission) indicated that there are no new updates to the charts used in this app this year.
1.3 22/07/2017
As requested by users, we have the dry or damp range values now displayed on the screen where available. These values are provided as soon as the user scrolls to the selected grain. There are two other small changes as well: to limit dial selection entry, and fine tune calculated results for Pinto beans to be more accurate.
1.2 26/10/2016
This version adds two new crops and one change to a previous crop: 1) Yellow beans - which have estimated values based on another crop, and 2) Northern Hard Red Wheat - this grain's values are calculated using linear regression formula. As well, the Great Northern Beans is updated and has its own chart; it is no longer estimated based on another crop.
1.1.0 01/07/2016
Updated table for Lentils, other than red.
