Galleyhear

Proof manuscripts by ear

USD 11.99 · Designed for iPad. Not verified for macOS.

Hear what your eyes skip. Mark issues at the spoken word, review cadence and repetition signals, resolve edits, and export a private on-device proofing report. Galleyhear is an offline manuscript proofing workstation built around a simple editorial truth: your ears catch what your eyes learn to skip. Import a manuscript, report, galley, or scanned draft. Galleyhear reads it aloud with word-level tracking while you mark the exact moments that sound wrong. When the pass is over, review the issue log, inspect conservative listening signals, resolve edits, and export a plain-text proofing report for your next revision. PROOF BY EAR • Mark an issue at the current spoken word without stopping the pass • Classify missing or repeated words, cadence, pronunciation, numbers or facts, clarity, and other concerns • Add an editorial note or save the passage and category on their own • Reopen or resolve issues as the manuscript changes • Jump from any issue or listening signal directly back to its source passage A REPORT YOU CAN USE • Word, sentence, paragraph, and estimated proof-listen counts • Average sentence length and number-heavy passage awareness • Explainable flags for unusually long sentences and adjacent repeated words • Repeated three-word phrase review, ranked by frequency • Exportable report combining your issue log with the listening signals Signals are prompts, not corrections. Galleyhear does not claim to judge grammar, meaning, style, or factual accuracy. It shows the passage and the reason it was surfaced; the writer remains the editor. IMPORT THE WORK YOU ACTUALLY EDIT • PDF, including scanned PDFs with on-device text recognition • DRM-free EPUB • Word documents (.docx) • Plain text and Markdown • Camera scans of printed pages BUILT FOR A COMPLETE LISTENING PASS • Word-by-word highlighting in original PDF page view or clean reflow • Repeating header, footer, and page-number detection with manual override • Speech speed from 0.5x to 3x • Custom pronunciation dictionary for names, acronyms, and technical terms • Bookmarks and anchored notes alongside proofing issues • Sleep timer and chapter navigation • Background audio with Lock Screen and Control Center transport PRIVATE BY ARCHITECTURE Your manuscript is not a prompt, an upload, or an analytics event. Import, OCR, analysis, storage, and speech happen on your device. Galleyhear has no account, advertising, analytics, tracking, or network service. ACCESSIBILITY-FIRST Galleyhear supports VoiceOver, Voice Control, Switch Control, Dynamic Type, Reduce Motion, high contrast, focus mode, adjustable line and letter spacing, and the included OpenDyslexic typeface. Galleyhear opens DRM-free files. Copy-protected books from Kindle or Apple Books cannot be imported.
