A wonderful App for children aged between 2 – 5 years old that includes 3 Welsh audio books featuring Dewin and Doti – Mudiad Meithrin’s unique charismatic characters. The app includes a matching pair game on two differentiated levels, an excellent way of developing children’s memory and concentration skills.
The stories meet various themes of celebrating diverse New Year traditions in Wales, visiting stunning locations within Wales and highlighting the importance of recycling. The simple, repetitive language and appealing illustrations are bound to attract the attention of early years children. The stories were written by Rhiannon Packer and the illustrations were created by Siôn Morris to accompany the wonderful stories. They include a voiceover by Jack Quick (children's TV presenter).
The titles of the books are Dewin a Doti’n Dathlu Calan ar Draws y Byd (Dewin and Doti Celebrating New Year’s Eve across the World), Dewin a Doti ar Daith (Dewin and Doti on Their Travels) and Dewin a Doti’n Ailgylchu (Dewin and Doti Recycling). There is also a Gaelic version of the ‘Dewin a Doti ar Daith’ story with Gaelic audio.
This app is a useful resource to Welsh-medium early years settings and primary schools, parents, and carers as they introduce Welsh to children in the yearly years.
