Whether you are playing your first notes or working through
intermediate repertoire, Croak: Piano Teacher meets you where you
are. Built for iPhone and iPad, the app listens as you play, adapts
to your level, and gives you immediate feedback on every note, so
every practice session is as productive as possible.
REAL-TIME NOTE DETECTION
Croak uses on-device machine learning to identify the notes you play
through your device's microphone in real time, polyphonically,
meaning it can detect multiple notes at once. No MIDI cable. No
external hardware. Just sit at your instrument and play. The
detection runs entirely on your device, with no audio ever sent to
external servers.
SIGHT-READING EXERCISES
Sharpen your reading skills with dynamically generated exercises.
Notes, key signatures, and clefs are selected based on your current
proficiency level and gradually expanded as you improve, from natural
notes in C major to accidentals across all major keys. Each exercise
is graded on both accuracy and response time, giving you an objective
measure of your progress after every session.
MUSIC LIBRARY
Practice with real pieces across six genres: Classical, Pop, Rock,
Jazz, Children's Songs, and Holiday music. Each piece is presented
bar by bar, so you can focus on the sections that need the most
attention without losing your place in the score. Save your
favorites for quick access at any time, and pick up exactly where
you left off.
ADAPTIVE LEVELING
Croak tracks your accuracy, response speed, and session streaks
across every exercise to calculate a proficiency level from 1 to 10.
As your level rises, exercises introduce wider note ranges, new key
signatures, and greater rhythmic variety. The system rewards
consistent practice with streak bonuses and keeps a full history of
your sessions so you can see exactly how far you have come.

Croak never shares your data with third parties. iCloud
synchronisation is entirely optional and uses Apple's private
CloudKit infrastructure. The microphone is only active during active
practice sessions and is never accessed in the background.
