A break reminder that knows when to shut up. Rest your eyes on the 20-20-20 rule, keep ninety days of history on your Mac, and never get pulled out of Xcode.
A break reminder that lives in your menu bar and counts down to your next rest.
When the work timer runs out, CatNap puts a full-screen break on screen with one of three eye-health routines. It never locks the Mac, and there is no account to make.
THREE WAYS TO REST
Look Away follows the 20-20-20 rule: twenty seconds at twenty feet, every twenty minutes.
Eye Exercise walks your gaze through nine points to loosen the muscles that hold focus.
Breathing paces you through the 4-7-8 pattern: in for four, hold for seven, out for eight.
TERMINAL BY DESIGN
Monospaced type, segmented progress bars, phosphor glow and CRT scanlines. Five themes redraw the break screen: Terminal, Aurora, Neural, Cyberpunk and Zen Tech. The menu bar can pick up the same colours.
NINETY DAYS OF HISTORY
Heatmaps, streaks, completion rates and week-over-week trends, all computed on your Mac. No network access, no analytics, nothing leaves the machine.
STAYS OUT OF THE WAY
CatNap pauses itself while you are in Xcode, VS Code, a terminal, or any app you add to the focus list. Learning mode offers to add new ones as it finds them. Override holds detection off for ten minutes when you need the room.
Keyboard throughout: F to pause breaks, M to mute, ESC to skip a break, return to mark it done, and A for today's numbers mid-break.
TUNED FOR BATTERY
Low Power Mode drops every looping animation and renders flat colour. Reduce Animations keeps the look and thins the motion. Both are one toggle away.
Work intervals from 5 to 120 minutes, short breaks from 10 to 300 seconds, long breaks from 5 to 30 minutes, and 2 to 8 sessions before a long one.
Requires macOS 26.
Ratings & Reviews
This app has not received enough ratings or reviews to display an overview.
Built for macOS 26. Settings, statistics and the welcome tour are rebuilt around the phosphor terminal look, with one accent colour in place of four.
A new Performance section puts battery in your hands. Low Power Mode renders flat colour with no looping animation. Reduce Animations keeps the look and thins the motion.
Pomodoro sets close out with a full long break, and Override holds focus detection off for the full ten minutes.
The popover is rebalanced around the timer, spacing and type are consistent across every window, and settings save the moment you change them.
Noticeably lighter on the CPU while idle.
