Wider Midlands region (coming soon).
WaitLess is a patient empowerment app designed to help patients make an informed decision about where to the seek urgent medical attention, avoiding busy A&E departments where possible.
The App helps patients identify the fastest route to receiving care for non-life-threatening emergencies, by presenting combined live waiting-times for Minor Injury Units (MIUs), Urgent Treatment Centres (UTCs), Walk-In Centres, (WICs) and Emergency Departments (EDs), and indicative travel time information for all urgent care facilities across a locality.
The App gives patients the option to call 999 or 111 or access the 111 web-app, before patients to proceed to WaitLess.
WaitLess clearly displays the number of patients waiting in a treatment centre, wait times for the longest waiting patient, as well as travel time information for multiple modes of transport with directions to each facility, and ranks each site in fastest order.
With just one click, the app will geo-locate the patient and redirect to the google map service on their device to present directions and travel routes.
In addition to this, the app provides detailed site and service information for each treatment centre, including opening hours, treatments offered, parking facilities and disabled access details.
WaitLess also displays a directory of pharmacies within the locality, allowing patients to access details such as services provided on site, opening hours, address details and contact telephone numbers, along with directions via google maps.
WaitLess is designed to help patients get the treatment they need more quickly by presenting alternative care locations to help them avoid long queues and wait times. By using the WaitLess App, patients will help the NHS to reduce pressure in busy A&E departments and provide lifesaving emergency treatment to those who really need it.
The app displays waiting times for adults only. If you are seeking care for a child under 16, please dial 111.
For serious injuries and medical emergencies please call 999.
I think it needs to be expanded to reach all parts of Kent not just certain areas, I live in Chislehurst so it’s extremely difficult to find a hospital closer to me on here. I think it needs to be expanded to reach all parts of Kent not just certain areas, I live in Chislehurst so it’s extremely difficult to find a hospital closer to me on here. But other than that it would be a great little app. I’ve noticed the pharmacy side keeps forcing the app to close, so I can’t use it but would definitely use this app more if it was more accurate and you had the hospitals in there that were closer to me, I don’t drive if I’m ill so the public transport side would help if the wait times load once you’ve changed the by car to public transport, like others I’ve notice wait times don’t load once choosing that as an option. So to sum up - Add more Kent hospitals, emergency centres on there. - Ensure wait times reload once you’ve chosen public transport. - Update the whole pharmacy side as it shows you where they all are but once you click into one the whole app crashes. Happy to discuss feedback if needed, thank you for starting this app though I think once these challenges have been overcome it would be a massive help to everyone. Kind regards Kerry
Love it but

The problem with this great app is I have my text set to large and the app does not communicate for this so cannot see a lot of the information. Also at the bottom where it displays the centre which includes the information there an open with click on section it doesn’t open. But this is a really good idea love I but needs work.
This needs to be rolled out everywhere

I’ve personally used this app several times and 1) it’s opened every time and 2) it was accurate when I got to the unit showing the shortest wait time. Even without the waiting times it’s useful to know what’s available and where, at what times and what’s provided there (X-rays etc).. helps navigate a complex health system that even those who work in it, like I do, struggle to understand 👍
Needs a small tweak

This is an absolutely fantastic resource, and I really love how simple it is and it seems to have a lot of up to date information in the Dorset area. My main gripe though is that if you pick travel by public transport or walking, it doesn’t re-list which service is the shortest time to be seen. Not everyone has a car and it would be great to see which is fastest by other transport without having to scroll through every single option.
