KEY FEATURES
• Your To-Dos
Your basic building block is the almighty To-Do—each a small step toward a great accomplishment. You can add notes, tag it, schedule it, and break it down into smaller steps.
• Your Projects
Create a Project for any big goal, then add the to-dos to reach it. Use headings to structure your list as you outline your plan. There’s also a place to jot down your notes, and a deadline to keep you on schedule.
• Your Areas
Create an Area for each sphere of your life, such as Work, Family, Finance, and so on. This keeps everything neatly organized, and helps you see the big picture as you set your plans in motion.
• Your Plan
Everything on your schedule is neatly laid out in the Today and Upcoming lists, which show your to-dos and calendar events. Each morning, see what you planned for Today and decide what you want to do. The rest is down to you :)
MORE THINGS TO LOVE
As you dive deeper, you’ll find Things packed with helpful features. Here are just a few:
• Reminders — set a time and Things will remind you.
• Repeaters — automatically repeat to-dos on a schedule you set.
• This Evening — a special place for your evening plans.
• Calendar integration — see your events and to-dos together.
• Tags — categorize your to-dos and quickly filter lists.
• Quick Entry — create to-dos from anywhere, as soon as the thought hits you.
• Quick Find — instantly locate to-dos, headings, or tags.
• Type Travel — jump from list to list with your keyboard; just start typing!
• Widgets — see your lists on the desktop or in Notification Center.
• Mail to Things — forward an email to Things; now it’s a to-do.
• Markdown — structure & style your notes.
• And much more!
MADE FOR MAC
Things is tailored to the Mac with deep system integrations as well. A great example is Quick Entry with Autofill: a shortcut that grabs content from other apps and adds it to Things for you, such as a link to a website or an email you want to get back to.
You can also enjoy a beautiful dark mode at sunset, connect your calendars, open multiple windows, add a variety of widgets, import from Reminders—Things can do it all! There’s even Shortcuts integration if you want to automate your workflows.
STAY PRODUCTIVE ON THE GO
Things also has full-featured apps for iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, and Apple Vision Pro (sold separately). All your devices sync seamlessly via our free Things Cloud service. It’s great to have everything at your fingertips when you need it!
AWARD-WINNING DESIGN
Made in Stuttgart, with two Apple Design Awards to its name, Things is a fine example of German engineering: designed not only to look fantastic, but to be perfectly functional as well. Every detail is thoughtfully considered, then polished to perfection.
“It’s like the unicorn of productivity tools: deep enough for serious work, surprisingly easy to use, and gorgeous enough to enjoy staring at.”
—Apple

more Everyone needs a task manager – and this Apple Design Award winner is adaptable enough for anyone. Organising items is as simple as dragging them where you want them, and the Magic Plus button makes it easy to add to-dos from anywhere in the app.

This app gives you plenty of options to organise your tasks. It is great that you can set up projects within 'areas' and also have sub headings within projects (as well as checklists within tasks!). It doesn't try to assign priorities like some apps but you can assign 'tags' to tasks that can be anything you want, so you can set up your own priority system which is great. The visual look of the app is not very customisable (just light or dark) and I have found the options to display your lists of tasks limited and not customisable. I would have liked an option in the side bar to select 'all tasks' indicating whether they are 'sheduled with date' or 'anytime'. They also have the option for assigning 'anytime' or 'someday' - I find this less useful than being able to list all tasks. If you select 'any time' the tasks are grouped within projects and it only shows the first 3 tasks. You have to click 'show more' to see the others. I therefore find that there is too much clicking in and out of parts of lists without being able to quickly see the overview. Overall though this app is powerful without being complex - would highly recommend it

I am in awe of this application. Paired with Things on all my iOS devices (yeah, I'm one of those folk!), Things has really revolutionised my habits. Once upon a time I continuously put off completing tasks, and was crazy forgetful about everything. Now, I simply rely upon Things to remember for me, and to prod me into doing stuff on time.It took a while to actually form the habit of listing my to-dos in the app, but once I started, it became almost automatic. Things has also become so beautiful over the years, especially the Dark Mode on OS X. The design and intuition that’s gone into it is stunning. I love it, and recommend it to everyone. One thing I would really like to draw attention to is the sync speed between devices – it is SO fast. I honestly don’t know how they manage it. It's only now that I'm writing a review (something I never do!), but as a result I can vouch that Things is one of the best apps I've used over a multi-year period. To think that the team are still adding small quality of life features every now and then! I think it’s perfect already, but you can be sure they’ll think of something.
Developer Response Thank you so much for this awesome review! We're thrilled to hear how much Things is helping you to keep on track, and has helped you to form good habits as well. Cheers!

I’ve tried various apps to try to integrate my GTD (google it and read the latest - 2015 - version of David Allen’s book if you haven’t already) into my digital world. Things is for me the best - I’ve tried a lot of the others including Omnifocus, Nozbe, ToDoIst, IoS reminders. Things 3 fixes a couple of…er…things that weren’t quite there before in Things 2. Not quite perfect alignment with GTD but very close and anyway GTD can mean different things to different people. Even if you are not into GTD, Things 3 is easily the best app of this type out there. It’s well laid out, elegant and easy to use. Spend the time on keyboard shortcuts and go through the tutorials a few times so that you really know it. Definitely set it up on all your devices and sync so that you can capture stuff and review anywhere, and definitely use Siri with Things..it works a treat! I do not use Siri for anything else but somehow it’s just right with Things. I recommend Things 3 very highly!

Repeating to-dos just got far more flexible, with two highly requested improvements: You can now complete them early, and easily reschedule them when plans change! Plus many more refinements throughout.
COMPLETE REPEATING TO-DOS EARLY
Sometimes you’re ahead of schedule and want to tick something off early. Now you can! A repeating to-do now shows a normal checkbox – just like any other to-do – so you can complete it as soon as it’s done.
RESCHEDULE WITH EASE
Repeating to-dos can now be rescheduled, which makes it easy to adapt when plans change. Simply bump it to a new date. If it repeats on a fixed schedule, Things will ask whether you want to make a one-time exception, or update the rule going forward. If it repeats after completion, it simply moves to the new date.
MORE REFINEMENTS
We’ve made a number of other refinements to repeating to-dos:
• The repeating to-do setup dialog has received a visual refresh, and lets you more easily pick the next recurrence date.
• A copy of a repeating to-do now shows a little gray repeat icon to distinguish it from regular to-dos.
• If you want to start working on a repeating project early, you now can! As soon as you start editing its to-dos, Things will offer to create the next copy of the project ahead of time.
• You can manually create the next copy of a repeating to-do ahead of time by right-clicking it and choosing Repeat > Create Next Copy.
• You can now pause, resume, and stop multiple repeating to-dos at once.
• More bug fixes and improvements – see our website for the full release notes.
---
Last but not least, this update includes a big change under the hood that we’ve been working on for some time: the display and editing of to-dos – both inside lists and when you expand them – is now driven by the same code on Mac and iOS.
---
Things now requires macOS 13.3 or later.

3.21.8 15/04/2025
