I have used this app for several years, also tried others - Evernote, Onenote etc - but keep coming back to Standard Notes. It has a simplicity that makes it easy to use and the seamless sync between multiple devices makes it very portable when using it in the office, at home and out and about. End to end encryption makes my notes secure.Tags allow me to differentiate between many different topics, making it easy to find a note. There is also the search facility to quickly find a particular note or subject.I particularly like the simplicity of the app and the same look and feel over multiple platforms - I use it primarily on my iPhone, but also on my iPad and Linux laptop. I've never had any issues with loss of data, but appreciate the ability to have daily or weekly encrypted or unencrypted backups, which can be emailed to my account.

I love the sync and privacy features right out of the box but no markdown in the free version is ridiculous. I’m not asking for themes or new features, only markdown formatting which even the most basic of notes app have. Without it I’m seriously considering other places for my notes.The UI of the app version is frankly ill-suited to a large iPad screen, it’s just the iPhone version with more dead space and all notes are in one big list. You can filter it by tags but it’s still a poor UI compared to the browser version. According to the preview here, markdown is only available for the desktop and browser versions anyway so even if I bought the extensions there’s no reason for me to use the app over these other platforms.

Pros: bulletproof sync across all devices; excellent privacy credentials; nice clean UI. Cons: not as feature-rich as other note taking apps in either free or paid versions (VERY basic in the free app at times); pricing structure is utterly bonkers. Overall I really like this app and would definitely use the paid version if the pricing structure wasn’t so insane (the only way to get it at the same price as much more feature-rich apps is to commit to it up front for FIVE YEARS, which is insane. I get that other apps are cheaper because they sell your data, but customers should not be expected to outlay £150 for a five year service with no guarantee that the company will still be around then). Would definitely give Standard Notes a 5-star review and my money if there was a yearly subscription option for £20-£25.

I bought into the Standard Notes ecosystem about a year ago after losing a bunch of changes on a Simplenote glitch between my laptop and phone. Never had any issues with Standardnotes - not one. Totally trust it for all my work and creative projects. They/he always work on putting security first, support is awesome w/ great support community, and the sync is flawless. You’ll read reviews saying the UI isn’t very good, but v3.0.0(current version) is a huge improvement and really gives you everything you’d hope for in a modern notes app. Nailed it. I’ve tried literally every cross system notes app and I only trust and use Standardnotes. No bells. No whistles. Simply the best.
