I have given this app and Sky’s equipment two months. At the moment I’m only using the doorbell and indoor camera. When they work they are good but, they frequently disconnect from the network and become completely unresponsive. They seem very sensitive to power cuts or router resets. I have yet to successfully complete an update without having to uninstall the kit and reconnect everything. The App is functional and works well on wifi and remotely over 4/5G. Unfortunately it does lose connection and can lock up during and after an update. The only solution I have found is to uninstall and then reinstall the app, then set up the equipment again. I’m not sure how much longer I’m going to put up with this.** A year on **Things have stabilised now. I don’t know if updates improved things or I just got used to managing things better. Anyway I’m happy to upgrade to 4*

Great but with an issue

Everything else is super easy to set up and connect. The video doorbell chime on the other hand, just won’t connect to the app using my iPhone 14 pro max. Searched and found others have had issues whilst trying to set it up using the same model. Ended up having to use another phone (iPhone 11 pro max) to set it up and had no problem. Had all the tech less than a week and I’ve had to take my doorbell off for charging for the second time and now it won’t reconnect. Had to remove it and now having to wait for a friend to come to set it up again using a different phone.The camera and sensors are great. Though adjustment of the water sensors may be needed as had a few false alarms.If you have Ring or another video doorbell service that works great, I wouldn’t recommend installing the sky video doorbell as a replacement unless you have a phone model that hasn’t got any issues in the set up process.

I was sceptical but I’m amazed
I must admit that I a little sceptical when I read all the reviews especially regarding the doorbell battery life. I’m 73 and my 14 year old grandson had this set up in no time and all he left me to do was finish charging the video doorbell and mount it on the wall outside the front door. I don’t have any problems at all with the doorbell battery but I did leave it on charge for 36 hours before it was used. It was a win win for me as the Sky quote for my insurance was £100 less than I could find elsewhere and it came with all this security package.

To top it off, no one at sky seems to know how to fix the issue or even care that you have purchased something from them, after sales support on this is far from what I’d expect from sky. Having been a sky customer for nearly 20 years I’d expect better. If your looking to get a video door bell, other makes like Ring are far more reliable, with clean mobile interface that actually work. Also there dealers support is far better. Avoid at all costs - unless you want to throw money away and lose storage on your iPhone due to the app not working- if that’s the case give it a go!
