Love RSS feeds? So do we!!
RSS feeds are a great way to follow updates on your favorite website. However, some sites set up their feeds to only show a portion of each entry, you know, to get you to click through to their actual website. We find that really annoying, and we're sure you do too.
Which is why, unlike other RSS feed readers, that either push you into a browser (in-app or otherwise), or depend on third party text parsing services and require you to be online to fetch the full text of one article at a time (which makes it no different from having to click/tap through to a website), in lire, you get your favorite RSS feeds as they should've been. You don't need to click through to any website (though, you do still have the option to, if you really wanted). It takes your favorite partial feeds, does it's magic, and converts them in to full feeds, so you don't have to click/tap on those annoying 'Read more' or 'Continue reading' links.
Once they're cached, you don't even need to be connected to read your full-text feeds.

Updated 9th Dec 2025Version 3.3.5 (and the one immediately before) broke something in this app which results in the app crashing when clicking on an article. It's so unstable that it's unusable. I reported this to the developer. He asked for a crash report. I sent this. Since then absolute silence. The app remains unusable and the developer has stopped responding to requests for support. It's a shame when developers abandon their paying users, but that's what this developer has done. I've updated this review to reflect my experiences and as a warning to prospective users.Original review:Lire used to be one of my most prized apps. It's packed full of useful features. Unfortunately, the app consumes so much CPU (e.g. ~30%) on macOS Monterey, the heat from resting my laptop (which has an efficient M1 Pro chip) on my laps is uncomfortable. I contacted the developer about this, but he stressed that 30% CPU was normal. He also made clear he has no intentions of introducing CPU efficiencies in upcoming releases. So, sadly, my usage of Lire is now limited to opening the app, retrieving articles, quickly exporting them as Epubs and then quickly closing the app. C'est la vie.
