okay so. i’ve been following along with this series of apps (kana, sensei, etc) ever since a friend recommended them to me and literally i cannot express to you just how amazing this is. as soon as i saw how cheap the yearly fee for the pro version was i was like “shut up and take my money” and now that i’m actually getting into using it properly i just HAVE to leave a review.for a little background. this app literally has 13k kanji built into it + vocab all the way up to and beyond jlpt1. you can choose what to quiz yourself on via group settings (eg jlpt levels) or via personalised lists (which is SUPER handy, especially when you’re like me and want to take things at your own pace!) like kana, it has the added benefit of multiple different types of quiz questions (even questions make you write kanji out and helps with stroke order, which, again, literally PRICELESS) + the flashcard algorithm is SUPER helpful. because it requires no wifi connection, it’s also very easy to just take a really quick quiz while you’re taking a walk or waiting in line or sitting with nothing to do.the one potential improvement i could think of is a practice score colour system for kanji and/or vocab like in kana, or even a rating system similar to the lesson rating in sensei. even so, the lack of that doesn’t detract at all from the quality of the app, so i don’t mind too much at all.overall, if you’re looking for a good japanese app for learning kanji, kana, + vocab, this is it. i could not recommend it more to ANYONE for the sheer volume of stuff it has in it, and the fact that so much of it is free is just on another level. ありがとうございます, 先生!!! ( ^∀^)

I think your comment is my favorite so far! ✨ Thank you very much! The practice score colour system for kanji, vocabulary & kana is now added to the app (v1.0.5)! I also take note of your idea for the Sensei rating system. Be sure to let me know if you have any other suggestion. Again, thank you so much for taking the time to write such an awesome review, it gives me energy to keep improving the app! Best of luck in your Japanese learning journey!
High quality Japanese learning app

This app is deep. Only spent a day with it, and haven’t yet fully got to grips with it. But everything about it is well made, high quality, and it’s clear a lot of work and attention has gone into it. Every kanji has several translations for katakana and hiragana. Stats about its JLPT level, stroke count, Korean and pinyin equivalents, and lots more. You can learn kanji, kanas, reading, speaking, sounds, meaning, and lessons are heavily customisable, so you can learn in almost any way you want. Interface is well designed and visually very pleasing to work with, and I repeat, it’s so deep and customisable that after a day with the app I still haven’t got a handle on everything that it offers. I have to admit I’m not sure if there’s a Duolingo-type conversational/sentence type learning lesson structure in there (because again, it’s deep) but there is a free grammar app from the same creator. And even without that, I’d still not hesitate to give it five stars. Very well-made learning experience.
Love it

So far ive seen no major bugs and i have been doing duolingo and lingodeer for quite a long time and i say that if you have motivation and dedication to learning japanese like myself then this app is perfect for ticking along with vocabulary kanas and the dreaded kanji to master these because everything is set out before you and you can access and learn these at any time. Furthermore the flashcard system provides an easy way to categorise vocab and kanji to learn. Overall a great app and would definitely recommend to anyone who wishes to become fluent in Japanese
Boosted my Kanji knowledge
Stuo77
Update: it now crashes every single time it asks me to draw a character. It’s very frustrating :( I’m really enjoying using this as part of my mixed method approach. I came to this having already learned hiragana and katakana and some basic Kanji. My understanding of Kanji has measurably improved in just a few days of use. It’s enjoyable to use. The quiz is excellent, I forced myself to use hard mode where you have to type or draw the answer and it’s supercharged my learning. I will say that I’m a dedicated learner and spend at least a few hours a day learning Japanese every single day. It would be difficult to retain if you only work sporadically so that’s where the spaced repetition reminders should help. Great learning tool which is very well implemented.
