After going to the gym for years and taking a year off due to injury, the idea of getting back into it and creating my split sounded incredibly daunting. The greatest barrier for me going to the gym was always this, sitting down each week and planning new workouts always unsure if they were optimal. Thankfully with this app my coach does it for me whilst also providing support and instructions keeping me motivated and feeling good and I really do feel good, I leave the gym exhausted but full of accomplishment and confidence knowing I am doing the right thing. You can choose how far you throw yourself into your plan as there is always plenty of advice from your coach and team members if you can only do a few days a week but if you go full swing, coach takes no hostages you will be worked incredibly hard but that’s the fun of it. The team chat function is great and very motivating but I find the most support and motivation from having the voiceovers in my ear the entire workout and the app timing rests and telling me what’s up next. The weight journal is not without its faults but it is certainly so much better than my old methods of spreadsheets and messy notes on my phone. This app has given me confidence, motivation and broken down the biggest barriers into getting into the gym, worth it’s weight in gold. If you are thinking of giving it a go just do it.
As good as it gets

If you’re trying to get into shape there is no substitute in my opinion to the accountability and tailor made service you’ll get from workouts with a PT in person - however I think LADDER might be as good as it gets over an app.The workouts are great, and coaches are all excellent (shout out to Coach Brian), but what has changed my approach to app based fitness more than anything is the build of the app itself. It feels like when you open that workout that you are checking in with your coach and getting the work done. Narration throughout from them that is specific for the work out that you’re doing makes it feel personal and engages me. The app itself is super easy to use both to know what you’re supposed to be doing, but also to customise the reps/workouts/rest and to journal it all too. Every detail of this app has been thought about and executed brilliantly. It’s suitable for just about anyone and there’s a coach for whatever your taste. Honestly if you travel a lot or just like working out on your own then I can’t recommend LADDER enough - I take Coach Brian and the rest of Team Vitality all over the world with me and it has genuinely made my life better for it. Thanks guys 👊🏽
Hands down the best

I have been using the Ladder App for 10 weeks now. It isn't my first use of fitness apps. I can agree there are some awful ones out there, but this one is brilliant.I did the Shred Series and enjoyed it. I have a noticeable difference in my body shape compared to people I know using PTs and the gym. During the off-season, you get to change and try different trainers, and I have finally found my tribe in Evolve. Samantha is very knowledgeable. She walks you through the moves, which are also modifiable. I can opt for a gym equipment workout when I'm at the gym, or I can make adjustments to use dumbbells and barbells at home. They do have dumbbell-only workouts, which are a little too heavy on lunges for my old knees. They also offer body weight-only workout choices that you can access at any time, even when travelling. I believe I receive better quality results with the Ladder App compared to those using gym personal trainers. Samantha holds a doctorate in physical therapy, which aligns with my preference for science-based approaches.
Amazing resource

I’ve tried workout apps before. Loads of them. Some I deleted before I even started, some I tried for a few days, but none stuck. I am literally obsessed with Ladder. I am on team Ignite and our coach Stevie gives amazing form cues, motivational words, and pushes you to do your best. Having a program that I trust takes out the brainpower and the room for excuses. I love checking the app chats and Stevie often posts extra tips, meal ideas and motivation. The crazy thing is, this is just one team - there are tons of amazing coaches with slightly different training styles, so there’s something for everyone. This app takes the addiction of socials, the motivation of gamification, to make genuine weight training and challenging progressive overload fun and approachable. It’s easy to swap workouts, log your weights, track progress and switch to other teams. I have subscribed for a year and I look forward to my weekly workout drop every week. Thanks for a great program!
