From a performance standpoint this port is excellent! However there are a few things I’m disappointed with. The game isnt “Full” full screen. There are black borders around the game. Its not a big deal breaker but I don't see why they are there to start with. Also there isn't controller support. The touch controls are fine and serviceable but FF8HD has controller but not this? An enhancement I would have liked to see is a fast forward option. I feel the whole loading the battles and waiting to fight takes too long. It could be at least 10 seconds per battle just waiting.

One of the BEST RPG games to ever be created, I’ve played this game countless times over and over getting all sorts of achievements. The only thing I can say is, play the game there’s so much to it, it’s mind blowing!The only con about the game is there isn’t an online mode.For instance when you complete the game entirely you should have an option to continue on after the story line it’d be so good if they made it go online so you’re able to play with other people around the world or friends etc. (Like pvp or cards duelling online etc, etc.) There is also a rope skipping/jumping achievement to be earned and items to be collected! (probably the most frustrating part of the game but still fun and addictive 😂) Although in overall rating FF9 is a solid 8/10 the content, side quests (Chocobo hunt for artefacts and rare items) to using an aircraft to travel around the map towards end-game is top quality and must I remind everyone this game was made over 2decades ago and the graphics are EXQUISITELY WELL CONSTRUCTED!Last but not least it’s worth the money, if you’re a grinder or chilled out gamer just try it for your self you can put hundreds of hours into this game. Or you could speed run it in under 12hours for the rarest item available which would be the EXCALIBUR sword. 2 words at the tip of my tongue to describe this RPG, Master Piece. I really hope this game will seriously pop off and people will see and experience the joy that I and many others have previously experienced in the adventures of this game. It’s seriously breathtaking, so sit back download it and play it! You won’t regret it, it’s sad it’s a happy, thrilling and explosive type of game that YOU will easily get attached to. I don’t ever leave reviews on ANY game and when I say ever I mean it.

This is one of my favorite final fantasy games which i completed many years ago on the ps1. The character graphics are great and obviously updated, although the backgrounds now look a bit flat. The main problem i have is the battles, its so slow and choppy it makes it very hard to input any commands and im getting killed quite often because of this. It is strange because the rest of the game is very fast but as battles are a large part of this game i have had to give 3 stars. If they fix the battle speed then its definately a 5 star game but its just very frustrating at the moment.Edit: changed my review to one star as the game is unplayable on my ipad 4 due to battles not working. I contacted square who told me a few things to try which did not work so i had to contact apple for a refund. Apple refused me a refund with no explanation as to why. So unfortunately one star now.Edit no.2 i have changed my rating again because i decided to re-download this game after quite a while of not using it and it seems to be working a lot Better now. Fingers crossed it stays this way because i do love this game.
