Easy to follow, real Chinese speakers and videos of native Chinese showing you how it sounds.The course is very easy to follow, there are multiple ways to customise your learning experience, from slowing voices down, showing only Chinese characters, showing pinyin, or choosing to have no guides at all and throw yourself in the deep end.There are comprehensive sections on grammar and sounds. Games to test your knowledge, conversations to try yourself, characters to learn. They have really gone to town on how this can help your learn. Some apps are over complicated, don’t explain enough, don’t teach you about grammar or punish you for mistakes by not Letting you carry on learning unless you pay.I started off with the free version but I had no hesitation in paying for this as I really felt it deserved my time and attention as the devs have done a wonderful job which I will happily support.If you just want to learn Chinese and only Chinese, do not hesitate in downloading this app. If you want other languages as well, then go for LingoDeer. Either way, you will love this.Great job ChineseSkill, five stars.
Best Chinese-learning app I've found

This is the only app that I've been happy and satisfied to practice Chinese on! There is consistency in the lessons, you are allowed to skip the character writing if you're more interested in communication than actual literacy, and you can ALWAYS go back and review things that you've already learned in a multitude of ways. With every lesson you build more, so unlike many other apps, you don't just "tick off" learning something and then never practice it again so you forget. There's also games and immersion lessons. I haven't even been able to use every facet of the app yet, but I know I will continue using this for a long time! Thank you for making a great app--and for free!

What sets this app apart from the rest is that the contents are all free, as well as being completely ad-free (unheard of these days). This app is up there with the best paid language apps! very easy to pick up and has great depth that cover the basics excellently, before steadily moving you onto a higher level which all feels very fluid and streamlined! It’s the perfect stepping stone for anyone beginning mandarin, and looking to progress onwards from there. The devs have obviously put a lot of time and effort into this app and clearly share a passion for language learning. Download it, give it a try, and if you enjoy it as much as I have be sure to give a little donation for their efforts!

What this app is teaching is great, and it is very good for beginners, however there were lots of technical bugs/glitches that would make the learning experience almost impossible for newbies. Issue 1: In the games, the sound does not match up with the word displayed on screen, so for example the word on screen could be ‘apple’ but the sound/pronunciation could be for the word ‘ice cream’. This is annoying, and distracting as well, for you don’t get to learn the actual pronunciation of the word you are trying to learn. I know this because I have a Chinese relative who has been helping me with my lessons, and they say it is wrong.Issue 2: In one of the games, the buttons that you are meant to click disappear to the bottom of the screen, so you can only top of the button but cannot click on it. This can be solved either by restarting the game or closing and reopening the app. This is annoying because you loose your progress. Issue 3: We subscribed to the ‘premium version’ of this app, but after 24 hours, it still hasn’t been activated.Issue 4: This one isn’t really an issue but just something that could be better. If you have forgotten your password, ChineseSkill make it really hard to reset your password, unless you download it on a different device and ask for a password reset.What this app is teaching is brilliant, this course is great for learning if you aren’t playing the games, and so far there have been no issues in the main section itself, and we have been using this app for a few years now. I would recommend it if you aren’t focused on using the games. I have a short attention span, so I like to play the games to break it up, and this app would be the best Chinese learning app out there, so please, please, please fix these issues!
