Grid Diary Classic
Ratings & Reviews
13th May 2017: Nearly two months of planning and journaling every day, and this app just gets better. I use this app more than any other, and it is helping me change my life.23rd March 2017: Just an hour on this between iPhone and IPad says it's been really well, intelligently thought through and put together. The pro version is well worth it.Give me a week or a month and I'm guessing I'll come back and rate it 5 stars.7th April 2017: and I'm not surprised, here's my 5 star review. If you're on a mission, and want to create, sustain and record your daily momentum, nothing else will accommodate your needs so easily as this. If you are aiming to document your days by organised parts of your life, nothing else matches or is so flexible. You can have a different grid for any day of the week or the year. Really, this is as lucid as your mind. You just have to play with it, play with the format and sometimes be inspired by the library of grid titles. Like any classic app, this is up to you. It's smooth as silk all-through, and has a beautiful, exquisite interface and sweep between views!Swipe navigation between your day, week, your year... or your daily grid,... Honestly, if you're serious about making a diary entry that isn't just a "do and do it at this time" this it it. I wholeheartedly applaud the author — Kevin Cao — who is actively involved and enthusiastic in feedback, as the support forum demonstrates. And it's rock-solid stable: not a single crash or freeze on my iPad, iPhone or iPod.This is one of the best apps on the store. THE best in it's class.
I've been looking for a journal app for a long time, and have tried a couple for weeks at a time. All seem to work fine, but this is something else. Add or remove different grids, making the entry as small or as big as you want. Add pictures, record the weather and overall feelings with one tap at the top of each day. All the grids, ask a different question which you then answer and this makes up one full entry which is neatly and easily broken up into multiple sections. Each grid is customisable too, so you can choose a different question for each grid - or just create your own!I'm a 24 year old guy, in a stressful job and have numerous financial and personal worries. Nothing major, but I often feel the need to write things down so it's out of my system. I've had this app for a couple of days now, and I've noticed a big change. I come home and before bed I'll record the day, which is made so easy by the nice breakdown of questions. The questions already built into the app are good enough for me, and one of the best is how to make tomorrow better. I've found this is always my biggest section. And so far I've noticed big changes. Biggest regrets of today, turn into biggest changes tomorrow. By writing down what I felt I should have done today, I've now automatically set myself a goal for tomorrow. And it's very satisfying to come home and write down that I've achieved this. And similarly, if I'm conscious that I will write in the app later on - I make more of an effort to achieve those goals in the day; as its not a great feeling to come home and write yet again, that you have the same regrets as the previous day. It might not change your life drastically, but it will have a positive impact on you - just give it a chance!
I've troweled the App Store and tried all sorts of journals and diaries but this one is definitely by far the most simple when you struggle to put into words, it breaks your days down and makes you think about each aspect of your day if your like me and find it hard to put into words what you need to get written down. It's quick and easy to use, I really like that you can choose your own questions but even when your stuck you have the option to chose a question/grid space from the library already built in. A* amazing app. Maybe being able to add more than the 10 grids would be better, especially when your life is complicated or as I said, for mental health there's a lot that could make you reflect and actually think about your actions and the day you've had.
I think this app offers a simple and effective way to keep a diary. It is almost everything that I was looking for and offers an organised way of viewing a calm or chaotic lifestyle. The grid method allows easy organisation of your thoughts whilst the alternative layout offers easy reading with customisable options. The daily questions allow you to reflect deeply on how each day affects you personally and the people surrounding you and having the ability to write your own headings is a good, personal touch. The questions are positivity and power promoting which means that your day should end on an upbeat note! I also love the little icons that display your mood and the weather. They just make me smile! The only improvement that I would make to this: give the ability to have different colour backgrounds. I have dyslexia and the bright white background can give me an awful headache so I can't use it for long.Another suggestion would be to make the password option available on the free version. I would not pay £4 (£3.99) for this app, just so I can have a password and the likelihood of me using this app often, without that ability, is not good.
I was having serious problems with the screen freezing upon opening the app on my iPad. I found a workaround by shrinking the viewing size back down to iPhone screen size, then I can click on things and can also put it back up to full screen size. Now that I can use it, I really like having a set of questions to jog my memory on what happened that day. The questions are totally customisable. I have some of their standard ones the app provides as suggestions and some I designed myself. I like that you can also change a question just for the day too.Now that I have found a solution for my bug, I really like the app and use it every day, thanks to the reminder push notification.
Really excellent way to keep a journal. You think you won't write much and before you know it you've written tons. The questions are great as prompts and you can always change them or add your own if you want. It's nice being able to put in how you're feeling and what the weather is like as it's nice to look back on. It being free is just fantastic, if you pay you get to add more than five photos but it's really not necessary. It allows you to think of what you can do better tomorrow and what was good today and it's really nice to see it all down like a blog post of your day after filling in grid questions. Really brilliant five stars!
Love the design aesthetic and the concept is brilliant, highlighting the realities behind writing a diary which can be both time consuming and a lot of people struggle to express their feelings so freehandedly. This app gives you a way to express those feelings by selecting questions of your choice and let's you write about your day with ease.A big issue remains. The app is incredibly buggy at the point where I wasn't sure if my posts were being saved to my day or if they were they aren't showing, along with a couple of other issues that are irritants. I think these issues might get ironed out with it being only a few days old and I have faith that the developer will fix these ASAP so I can give it 5 stars instead of 3!
This app is exactly what I was looking for, though I didn't really know that before I got it! The interface is clean, attractive and intuitive, and the questions are thought provoking and cover a huge range of topics. If you're someone who's always wanted to keep a daily journal but could never think of anything significant enough to write, this app is for you. If, like me, you already keep a journal, I would still recommend this app. So many of the questions brought thoughts about the day to the front of my mind that I wouldn't necessarily have considered writing about otherwise. Just brilliant.
I use this app because I like to a diary/journal of what I have done through the day interacting with it as I arrive at places or do something. Thus keeping a timeline of events as I do them and review at the end of the day. I like being able to export to Evernote, where I keep everything. I don't bother with all the grid titles preferring to use personal, work and hobby titles simply. I'm undecided on having 3 grids or just the 1. I enjoy interacting with the app finding it easy to use. I always delete the ss in the time as I don't see the point, so a request is to have just hh:mm setting. Also, can it interact with my calendar? Thanks for a good app.
I love this! It's a real commitment. I must say I love the fact that you can set some daily questions to ask yourself and answer everyday. It feels like writing a proper journal/diary! You get so into writing in the grids. I love it. The one thing I would say is that maybe the passcode feature shouldn't just be for the "pro" section. I think this because maybe you didn't want anyone reading your pages but they got onto your phone and started reading them. It would be embarrassing wouldn't it? Other than that I think overall it's an amazing app with a lot of potential.
