Sky Go
Ratings & Reviews
For the amount Sky costs you’d think they’d stop with this. But the ads are relentless. You’re forced to watch half a minute of them before you can skip, which is worse than watching at home, and if you’re searching for a specific moment in a show it’ll trip the adverts every time you search ahead, making it impossible to just find a part of a show if you’re trying to check something, a purpose for which it is unusable. Poor, greedy, and now deleted.
We’ve just come back to Sky after a couple of years away and I’m really surprised to see that this app is exactly the same as it was when we left - why isn’t there the ability to add programmes to your playlists yet? Almost every single streaming app has this now, including the free ones let alone the ones you have to pay to access like Sky Go.
Come on sky , I spend a fortune on sky monthly , it’s 2026 the least you could do is make sure the HD content is 1080 p and not the measly 720 p. Whilst watching older programmes they are even lower resolution & looks terrible . Step your game up ! Where’s the UHD content and 4K for mobile ? Sky Go is fantastic though it is still lacking in Resolution! We Need 4K & UHD from skygo app also 1080 p content needs to be the new standard, not 720p ! Oh and please sort out profiles or favourites !
Fantastic app to watch live TV and download everything, seems most reviewers simply don't know what they have in their sky package and then get annoyed when they can't access something they're simply not paying for!! Guess what sky Costs money but it means you can get access to all this great content anywhere aswell as watch live TV anywhere. If you can't afford it don't buy it! Simples! I can't afford my own helicopter I don't slate helicopter companies for not lowering their prices for me! The app works fine and I have access to everything, never had a playback issue download system works great apart from having to keep the app open and only be on wifi when downloading (I have unlimited data with my phone company and I wanna milk it dry!!!) and the one thing I want more than anything on this planet is to be able to download a full football match (including pre-match, half time and post-match analysis) after it's aired, I often work during games and would love to be able to download the game without learning the score so I can watch it as if it were live apart from that it has completely revolutionised train journeys or flights, instead of watching the god awful films they have on board I can download all my favourite shows and movies, people who are giving this poor reviews just have no clue and I hope they enjoy themselves when they switch to Virgin and can watch less content at home or at home
Incredible app. I've no complaints with this at all and I'm sorry to hear that so many people seem to find fault with it. The majority of the gripes seem to be about crashes and the device limit. I've been using the app on an iPad 2 since it's launch and I've not had a problem with crashes (touch wood). I know it's pretty frustrating when something stops working so I sympathise with anyone having difficulty. On the subject of the device limit I recommend that anyone who wants to use the app on more than 2 devices gets to grips with the device manager on the sky website. It's really simple to swap devices over in an instant. All you do is delete one device from the service with a couple of clicks and then login on the new device. I've not found the restriction worth complaining about although allowing more devices to be registered at once would make life a little easier for everyone. There's plenty of content but expanding wouldn't hurt. More live channels and catch-up TV would be good to see and I think it's about time that all the games from Football First were made available on Anytime+.The one thing that disappointed me was when I bought an HDMI cable for my iPad I discovered that the app doesn't support HDMI out. If Sky can add that then they're on to a complete winner as far as I'm concerned. Come on Sky, make it happen.
Hello all. I was experiencing the same problems as most of you guys but managed to get sky go working over 3G today. Basically there was a profile on my iPhone 4S blocking content from sky go streaming through 3G.Here is what I did to resolve the problem.......Go to setting and click "general" then scroll down to the bottom of the page. Between "accessibility" and "reset" there was a profile which said "iPhone data" these profiles may differ between networks, mine is o2. Click on the profile and when it opens you have a red "remove" tab. Click remove.Once removed stay in "general settings" and click "reset" from the menu click "reset all settings" don't worry, all contacts, pictures and music are unaffected and remain while the phone resets.Once the phone restarts you will have to reconfigure your wallpaper/screensaver and ringtone etc along with minor settings such as brightness and volume to restore the phone to the way it was. Now once you have restarted the the phone,go to "privacy" and turn "location services" to ON. That's it......sky go should now work. It worked for me and I've been watching the ashes cricket on my phone for most of the afternoon. I called sky today to discuss the problem and if it wasn't for them I'd probably never have found out there was a profile obstructing my viewing. They can only tell you so much regarding the handset because really anything you do is at your own risk and they can't be held responsible if you bugger your phone :-) but this what I've written above did honestly work. Give it a go. Hope you get up and running with this.
Is the worst performing sports streaming app there is. Feels like other apps did when streaming first became a thing. Other apps have evolved though and the sky app just hasn’t. Bt sport destroys this app and it’s embarrassing. Low resolution streaming and Not letting us cast is utterly ridiculous. Sometimes we can’t get on the sky box so why do we have to watch on a tiny screen. Awful. When it comes to watching box sets things get worse. Apart from the constant forced ads, (this alone makes me go and watch other streaming sites, even the dodgy ones as they have less ads and a much better resolution) the UI is painful, it crashes a lot and then you have to go back to the start, watch the same 4 ads you’ve already watched 4 times per episode, so you can use the janky fast forward to get to the next set of the same 4 ads you just watched, rinse and repeat till you finally get to where you were. Wanna binge watch a few episodes? Get ready to watch those same few ads 4 times each per episode. Annoying song in those ads. Don’t worry that annoying song will be stuck in your head and you’ll develop a hatred for the product they’re trying to advertise. Worst streaming app ever by a long way. Years later and it’s still the same low res trash. The worst streaming platform in existence.Few years late. Still miles behind every other streaming app. Low res garbage.
I do not often write App Store reviews. However this app is so broken and such a rip off that I felt I had to at least make it known somewhere. I use this app for one purpose, to watch live TV when I otherwise cannot watch it on TV. Firstly, the level of ads I get from this app is unacceptable. In the era of streaming, to have ads at all is a problem. But to have ads before being able to watch live TV with ads already in is despicable. As someone who already pays £90 for a Sky subscription, and a further £10 so I can have the device slots for my family makes me want to vomit. I primarily watch F1. And to see people all over the world get a superior service, for a tenth of the price drives me up the wall. Apart from the ads, this app functions only after performing some kind of ritual to the gods of corporate TV. I have to restart my phone multiple times to even be able to get the stream up. At first I thought it was a VPN issue, which although I disagree with, I can at least understand. So I turn it off. But still it doesn’t work. Sometimes I have to restart my phone 3-4 times before the app deems my effort worthy to give me the content I pay for. Overall, disgusting user experience, abhorrent pricing, and repulsive levels of ads. As soon as I figure out how to get F1TV working, Sky will have lost my £100 a month.
I rely on my Sky Go Extra app to provide me with entertainment on my 2 hour each way commute, especially as network reception is patchy and besides who wants to watch all the adverts? Download is the winner. On my commute, I watch the programs my other half doesn't want to watch, most of which my kids also download (we love superheroes and zombies). Between us we hit the "2 downloads per program" limit every week. If, like me, you had an entire series downloaded to your device AND like a good iPhone user you have automatic updates enabled for Apps; with this release you found all your content gone overnight and no way to download them again. Sky's New Media team told me on the phone that they did announce this would happen - on the App Store. If Sky can push an advert to the app which pops up, they can push a "turn off updates if you wish to keep your content" message. I'm going to be very bored on the 2 hour trip home tonight; as for catching up with Legion...some hope. Remember: the download ability is something I pay Extra for...
Quite frankly there’s little one can say about this app that even takes us to a positive. Oh wait a minute I can watch Sky shows that I pay for when I’m away from my Sky Glass; which to be fair, is most of the time. Like most people I work and away from home. Sky Go is a great opportunity to access what we pay for 24/7 but unfortunately it’s an afterthought in the minds of sky capitalists and business brains. When I restart a paused it did not continue on and seemed to forget where I was. In fact rather than continue on episode 2 it decided to go back to episode 1 and again feed me adverts that to be honest I didn’t want to see and it repeats these adverts. Over and over and over until your brain ends up exploding from out of your ears creating a fizzy mess. No I’m lying. I actually wished my brain turned into a fizzy mess to release me from this torture. In addition the picture and sound is also not great. So in conclusion this app could be great but unfortunately sky don’t see this app as being paid for but when you think about it we do. We are away from out TVs most of the time therefore we waste money every hour we are away from our TVs. Until the business brains understand this and start putting the customer experience of sky before their need to wrap us up in ads and making big cash the app will continue to languish in comparison to other streaming apps. So if you’re on a train for an hour and want to kill time it’s fine. But if you want to watch a series away from the family watching Dancing on Ice boxset I’d forget it or spend £12 a month for the sky puck which to be fair should never cost that much to access programmes you are already paying for.
