It's getting better and better and I don't need so many plugins to make it useful.I wise I could use the default theme but the cursor on iPhone and iPad can fly randomly when moving to the beginning of the line. It occurs when I move to the list markdown - [ ] and starts flying even though the beginning of the line is not a list. The only workaround is to install Minimal theme.

Obsidian has become more like ‘Obsession’ in my workflow. it’s on everything I use. iOS, Mac, Linux, ChromeBook. Markdown just makes sense and works across so many platforms and publishing systems. Keeping the whole thing in sync I do through iCloud plus some GoogleDrive and GitHub (yes I know they offer their own sync solution). Obsidian Publish is a quick and easy way to get things out there with just a few clicks. I sometimes end up writing in other text editors and just dropping the files in to the Obsidian ‘Vaults’ for further use. Canvas & Bases have extended the scope of Obsidian but at its core it’s the best way to manage content separated from layout. The only slight hit is the use of Electron for app creation which on some and slower hardware can cause some sluggishness. however; Create once ~ use many…

While my overall experience with Obsidian has been extremely positive, I have encountered some challenges, particularly when using the app across different platforms:• Plugin and Theme Syncing: On my PC, I enjoy universal settings for themes, appearance, and plugins across all my vaults. However, on the iPad version, the plugins and themes I use on the PC do not sync automatically. This means I have to set up plugins and themes separately on each device, which can be inconvenient.• Vault Management: On the desktop, I can view and access all my vaults from a convenient panel, making navigation seamless. On the iPad, I am limited to accessing only one vault at a time, and there isn’t a similar navigator panel for switching between multiple vaults as easily as on the desktop.• Syncing Issues: Even with Obsidian Sync or iCloud, syncing plugins, settings, and hotkeys across devices-especially between desktop and iPad-remains inconsistent. This has been a known issue among users and can disrupt workflows when moving between devices.

The latest update has completely broken the mobile UI, but far worse than that it has made mobile worse than unusable. For some reason, every time I open my vault on mobile - even if it has only been closed or unfocused for a few seconds - the entire vault resyncs again. It redownloads every single note, starting from zero, from scratch, every single time. Literally hundreds of notes and hundreds of thousands of words. This means that if I open Obsidian mobile up for even a second, obsidian becomes unusably laggy for a minute or two, sometimes five minutes depending on the speed of redownload *my entire vault*. I PAY for sync, I've been using Obsidian for a while, so I'm extremely upset with this current situation.Especially considering that the use case for the IOS version is almost always going to be 'a quick way to add a thought, note something important down, update my to-do list, or add something to my calendar' having the app be locked up for several minutes WHENEVER I open it is making Obsidian and my day-to-day sluggish and unworkable.Sync was working *completely* fine before the latest IOS update, and nothing else has changed about my setup.I actually can't recommend this to anyone in its current condition.

I love obsidian on my laptop, it’s such a powerful software that has been a game-changer for me. But, the mobile experience is unusable. Admittedly, I’m on an iPhone SE and am using iCloud to sync my knowledge base, but the loading times for the app are 30-60 seconds every time you use it (even when you access it from multitasking), and for me, when I access it, I am shown a number of indecipherable errors (which is so frustrating, as it means I can’t understand the errors or try to fix them - these are also not present on my laptop, so it seems to be a mobile thing).When I do get through loading, the app completely freezes - sometimes for a minute, sometimes indefinitely, and continues to freeze for every single action I try to take in the app.If that wasn’t the case, I know the app has a rich set of features, and would be brilliant.

I love having full freedom from the note taking apps. I know my notes will always be mine and I'll never have to worry about Evernote going down or such. Although this app could be definitely improved, having the full power of the desktop application is just awesome. And there are loads of plugins to make your experience even better. Also great community. It takes a bit of time to get used to, but I've grown to love this app, specially in conjunction with the Spaced Repetition plugin to replace Anki and the Templater plugin that allows me to create really complex templates with the full power of a turing complete language like JavaScript.

I love this app. I have since discovering it moved all my notes from disconnected various platforms into one, truly adopted this second brain concept which this tool allows. I wanted to always build something like this, but even then could not have done so as well as the devs had. Truly remarkable. Obsidian is my knowledge, my memories, trusted companion.The only few things which I would LOVE to see and hence 4/5 stars currently is:1. iPhone Widget for calendar so I replace third party apps and have my daily journal / calendar appear worth my todos and reflections etc. currently I find myself using one or the other which can be frustrating 2. iPad Support - with obsidian being a tool heavily emphasis better knowledge grasping techniques through back links / tags etc., I was surprised there wasn’t much iPad written support given the many research done on how writing can positively impact knowledge capture. Hence, I would love to see this in future, to be able to write on my iPad directly on my obsidian note. Rather than screenshots of my iPad written notes

Obsidian is more than just a notes app. It’s a well crafted, user friendly, offline first and extensible experience that doesn’t drain your wallet. I bounced around different productivity apps for so long, paying all sorts of monthly subscriptions only to find that obsidian does it all. Its desktop and mobile apps feel mature and the team are rolling out improvements constantly. This feels like the old days. I own all the content, aren’t locked in to a proprietary platform and can use a really slick app that doesn’t ask for money to access it.

Where do I start? Obsidian is amazing as a tool for learning and retaining knowledge. It is infinitely customisable, and has a multitude of plugins to work with other apps that are developed within the community. As an engineering student, I create evergreen notes and questions within Obsidian that I can then review inside Anki. I’m encouraged to link notes from different modules by looking at backlinks and the amazing graph module. I can resurface notes to review them and see them again and add more information at set time intervals. Obsidian is an amazing tool - you should start using it if you haven’t already!

... with the ios17 update, the scrolling is incredibly jerky, both in editing mode and in reading more (though the problem is not quite as bad in the later). I had problems with this in the previous iOS version but got around it by having two notes open and making sure the cursor is NOT on the note I'm trying to scroll. Now this doesn't seem to fix it either. It really seems like this needs an update.It's an incredible note taking app though, I absolutely love it. It's just currently unusable for me which is very frustrating considering my second year of uni is about it start.
