Microsoft Translator
Ratings & Reviews
I downloaded this app so I could use it in Hong Kong & to speak to my wife’s family in China as 98 % of them speak no English. I used this app many times while I was there & it worked an absolute treat both with or without WiFi. I’m definitely going to use this app again.
Dear Microsoft Translator Support Team,I hope you are doing well. My name is SARMAD, and I am writing to inform you about an issue I have been having with the Microsoft Translator application ( version 23.3.2) on my iPhone SE 2022 (iOS version 17.1.1).I am currently using the latest iOS version and have ensured I have installed the most up-to-date version of the Microsoft Translator app on my iPhone. However, when attempting to use the application to translate speech, I encountered an error message stating, "Cannot translate speech. Please check your network connection and try again." Even though my internet connection is working fine. I have confirmed that my network connection is stable, and this issue persists despite having the latest software updates. Interestingly, I do not encounter the same problem when using the Microsoft Translator app on my iPad.I would greatly appreciate it if you could investigate and address this issue at your earliest convenience. The functionality of the Microsoft Translator app is crucial to my language translation needs, and resolving this problem would greatly enhance my user experience. Please do not hesitate to ask if you need any more information or details about my device and setup. I'm looking forward to your help in resolving this situation.Thank you for your time and attention.Best regards,SARMAD
Having the function to translate who web pages is inc edible useful, and in the main translates them correctly. However, it will only translate a single page so you’ll have to translate every single page if you’re navigating a website. While it can translate manually inputted text, the camera/picture function is absolutely dire! The translations are incomprehensible to the extent that you can’t even choose one single word to try and deduce meaning and more often than not will simply repeat the same word over and over again. Google translate is marvellous and will even take the different grammatical structures in to account and will therefore, will give you a grammatically correct sentence, rather then simply translating word for word - which would have been at least the minimum expectation of Microsoft Translator.
I switched from Google and have been using Microsoft for several months. It is an extremely useful and user friendly app. The translation has been mostly accurate. I love the offline feature. Also the voice translator. However some work is needed as the voice translator does not always hear correctly and is not available offline. Also I found translating from English is very good. But when reversing languages, the translation from Turkish to English does not give an accurate translation. However I give the app 7/10. I should actually get paid, as I have been publicising this app on my travels and on social media. So many of my friends around the world have now downloaded it and regularly use it.
The updated version has removed copy and paste facilities. Before this update the app had all the features that translators users needed now this improvement has deprived what I want to do and many others users of this wonderful app. Please restore the copy and past provisions. Regards AlaPlease restore the previous version without updated. The previous app has been extremely useful to users when the app has enable users to both paste and copy their translated versions. And most users have benefited by copying the translation and pasted to other apps. Thank you
The new update is so bad. It is confusing. I don’t know why they changed the old version it was so much easier i would just click on app then I would translate now I don’t know what all the buttons do I try to go back but it just takes me onto a previous photo . It used to be my favourite but now it is terrible. I have changed to Google translate and it is much better revoked getting google translate instead of any others. If you read the most recent reviews you will see instead of them being 4 and 5 star they are now 1 and 2 star. When you go onto highest rating most of them are from a couple of years ago before the update. Please change it back to how it was then I will re-download it and delete Google translate.
I’m really happy for this. It is on par feature wise, but with better backbones than google translate. Further, unlike google translate app this one ties in to Safari for web page translations. The latter feature also means I can remove the Bing app, which I only used for that purpose. Thus, this app replaces 2 and without any packs its footprint is light. Great work. Would love to know however what the option for "partial updates over cellular” means - perhaps but a brief link to a support doc, etc as I check the blog for this app and nothing is explained about the options in the app’s prefs.
I was using this to translate Korean skin care/beauty site reviews into English. Scrolling through the reviews I keep seeing ‘it’s a great place to stay’ crop up. Initially I think it’s a weird translation of references to sleeping packs. Then I see a few ‘the staff were very friendly and helpful’.The following Korean sentence 이외에는 크게 아쉬운점 없었어요.트러블 유발도 전혀 없고~ 여름에 써도 좋고 피부에는 잘 맞는편이네요 was translated as ‘the staff were very friendly and helpful. It’s a great place to stay’ Nope. It actually means ‘ Other than that, there was nothing unfortunate. There is no trouble at all~ It can be used in summer and it fits well with your skin’ so where on earth did Microsoft get their translation from. Funnily enough, it also translated 그렇다고 크게 불편하거나 한건 아님) 향은 쑥향인데 개인적으로 별로 좋아하지 않는 향이라.. ㅎㅎㅎㅎ as exactly the same ‘the staff were very friendly..’ etc rubbish. That sentence actually means ‘That doesn't mean it's very uncomfortable or not.) The scent is mugwort, but I don't like it personally.. Hahaha’ in English. Something fishy is going on eg adding fake praise to reviews. Too bad it sticks out like a sore thumb because it’s added fake ACCOMMODATION praise to a BEAUTY site. Would not recommend this app at all.
In Spain & other places we’ve been it’s handy for in restaurants & shopping whilst abroad etc...But...this year, while staying in Spain our dog ran off & for 3 whole days & nights, while he was missing. We were looking for him. The village where we stayed were helping us & one person put it all on her social media page...in Spanish ...we were out putting up notices...everything helped & the translated played a huge huge part ...who’d have thought it??? We got our beautiful dog back & are all at home. So I rate it a million times great,❤️🐾
