I’m genuinely impressed with Preply. I initially thought I was simply paying for lessons with my tutor, but the platform offers so much more. Preply is an extremely shady service whose business model, in my opinion, is built around making users lose money.The subscription renews automatically, paid-for lessons can expire, you can’t freely use your own money the way you want, and when you try to get a refund, suddenly there are fees and other restrictions.All of this is presented as “convenience and flexibility,” while in reality the rules seem to work primarily in the platform’s favor.And the most interesting part? Just go to Reddit and read the reviews. There are countless stories about unexpected charges, expired lessons, problems canceling subscriptions, and difficulties getting refunds.Personally, I’ve come to feel that Preply isn’t really a language-learning service, but a very well-packaged way of monetizing users’ lack of attention.Before giving them your money, I strongly recommend reading Reddit and carefully going through all the terms and conditions.

they only want your money - very inconvenient purchase of lesson packages,poor ratio of free hours and the actual availability of a tutor,a huge commission, which leaves the teacher with very little money. if, due to their fault, your tutor can no longer teach your, the money will not be returned to you.

Hello Ksenia,We do follow the subscription model however we do provide users with the flexibility to cancel or pause at anytime. We allow 2 free lessons in Preply and refund of the trial lesson if the tutor was unsatisfactory. As for the availability of the tutor, they should be available as per the data shown in their calendar and if they are not, we have a strict policy against that as well. Commissions are something that we cannot change as we invest it into making the platform better and such endeavors are cost consuming.If the tutor is not willing to teach you, please report to us and we will replace the tutor for you.Thank you
